How do I adjust the suction power?

You can adjust the suction force by using the air bypass vent (22). Covering the vent increases suction, while uncovering reduces it. This also helps to prevent small objects from being sucked in.

What should I do if the vacuum cleaner switches off by itself?

The appliance may switch off due to overheat protection. First, switch off and unplug. Check if the brush or nozzle is blocked, or if the coarse dust filter is clogged. Clean any blockages and allow the appliance to cool for at least 30 minutes before restarting.

How do I clean the filters?

The coarse dust filter and foam filter can be washed under running water and must be completely air-dried before reinserting. The hygiene filter should be rinsed with clean water only, tapped out, or cleaned with compressed air. Never use detergents or dry filters on a heater.

Can I vacuum liquids with this vacuum cleaner?

No, this vacuum cleaner is intended only for dry dirt. Never vacuum water or other liquids, as moisture can cause short circuits and damage the appliance.

How do I change the dust bin?

To empty the dust bin, first unplug the vacuum. Press the release button (7) to remove the dust bin. Release the locking mechanism under the lid to open it and empty the bin. Replace the lid, ensuring it clicks into place, then reinsert the dust bin.

What accessories are included?

■ On freshly shampooed-car pets, always wait until the detergent is completely dry before vacuuming.

■ When using the vacuum cleaner, always pull out the mains cord completely to the yellow marker.

■ Never pull the mains cord out beyond the red marker. Pulling the cord out further can damage the cable reel.

■ Never place the vacuum cleaner directly next to a heater or oven.

■ Never dry the hygiene filter on a heater or with a hair-dryer or tumble dryer. The hygiene filter is porous and can be damaged.

■ Never wash the filter in a washing machine or dish-washer.

■ The filter must be air-dried only.

■ Do not use any abrasive cleaners (scouring or thinning agents) to clean the appliance and accessories. They could damage the surface of the appliance.

Nozzles

The vacuum cleaner comes with various nozzles designed for a range of uses. Where required, before or during vacuuming, each nozzle can be attached to the telescopic suction hose (12) or the telescopic tube (13).

Floor nozzle

You will work with the floor nozzle (14) most of the time as it is designed for large, flat surfaces.

Best vacuuming results are achieved when you adapt the floor nozzle to the floor surface using the foot selector switch (17).

- For short-pile or smooth floors such as needle felt, PVC, parquet or tiles:

The foot selector switch can also be readjusted during operation.

Furniture brush

With the furniture brush (15) you can dust books or fragile items such as picture frames.

Crevice nozzle

The crevice nozzle (16) is suitable for vacuuming material folds, joints, corners and niches that cannot be reached with the floor nozzle.

Start-up

Unpacking the appliance

1. Unpack the appliance.
2. Carefully remove all parts of the packaging, plastic profiles, tape and foam padding.

Setting up the appliance

1. Connect the suction hose (12) and the telescopic tube (13).

a. Put the suction hose (12) with the connector in the opening for the suction hose connection (6).

1. Select the desired nozzle (e.g. the floor nozzle) (14) and insert it into the telescopic tube (13).

You can also insert all nozzles directly into the telescopic tube handle located on the suction hose.

1. The length of the telescopic tube (13) can be adjusted to suit the height of its user.

To do this, hold the upper part of the telescopic tube (18) with one hand and press the locking mechanism (19) downwards. At the same time, use your other hand to push the lower part of the telescopic tube (21) away from or towards you.

Make sure that the lower part of the telescopic tube audibly clicks into one of the notch-es (20) in the upper part of the telescopic tube.

All filters are prefitted in the factory, and your vacuum cleaner is now ready to use.

Operation

You can use the appliance if

– you have read the chapter ‘Safety’ (see page EN-4).
– the appliance has been set up as described in the chapter "Start-up" (see page EN-14).

Vacuuming floors

WARNING

Risk of electric shock!

The appliance operates with 220-240 V\~/50-60 Hz mains voltage. Improper use of the appliance may lead to serious injury or death.

■ Do not vacuum glow ash, burning cigarettes or matches, sharp objects, glass fragments, water or other liquids. Glowing ash, burning cigarettes, etc. set the filter on fire; moisture can cause short circuits; sharp objects damage the filter and can cause short circuits.

CAUTION

Health hazard!

Improper handling of the appliance may result in health hazards.

■ Do not use the appliance if the hygiene or coarse dust filter is missing or damaged. Otherwise, vacuumed dust can penetrate the appliance and escape into the ambient air.

NOTICE

Risk of damage!

Vacuuming unsuitable materials blocks the filter and can damage the appliance.

■ Never vacuum clay, plaster, cement, masonry dust or drilling dust.

Failure to unplug the mains cord in an appropriate way may lead to damage.

■ When using the vacuum cleaner, always pull out the mains cord completely to the yellow marker.

■ Never pull the mains cord out beyond the red marker. Pulling the cord out further can damage the cable reel.

1. Pull the mains cord out by the mains plug (11) until the yellow marking is visible on the mains cord.

If the red marking is visible, the mains cord has been pulled out too far. Allow the mains cord to retract slightly (see section „Finishing vacuuming“ on page EN-18).

1. Connect the mains plug to a properly installed socket.

1. Use your foot to press the on/off foot switch (3) to switch the appliance on.

2. To vacuum, push and pull the nozzle across the surface you are vacuuming.

Rotate the telescopic tube handle (13) slightly to reach corners more effectively. This positions the nozzle diagonally.

In rare cases this can make a whistling noise initially. This is not a malfunction and stops after a while.

Setting the suction force

You can adjust the suction force as needed by using the air bypass vent (22). The covering of the air by-pass vent (22) can be adjusted as desired.

Should you accidentally allow the vacuum cleaner to come into contact with an object, opening the air bypass vent immediately reduces the suction force. This remedial action will prevent such items from being drawn into the dust bin.

Finishing vacuuming

CAUTION

Risk of injury!

Forcefully retracting the mains cord can cause a “whipping effect” (on account of the mains cord swinging uncontrollably). This could result in injury.

■ Hold on to the mains cord when winding it up.

1. Use your foot to press the on/off foot switch (3) to switch the appliance off.
2. Pull the mains plug (11) out of the socket.

1. To retract the mains cord (11), press your foot down on the foot switch for the cable retractor (1). To avoid a 'whipping effect', hold the mains plug on the mains cord in your hand.

• To transport the appliance, lift it by the carrying handle (2).

Setting down and storing the appliance

• Insert the mounting bracket found on the floor nozzle (14) into the storage holder (8).

Care and maintenance

Emptying the dust bin

CAUTION

Health hazard!

Improper handling of the appliance may result in health hazards.

■ Do not empty the dust bin in enclosed spaces. Empty the dust bin on a balcony, 3 or outdoors directly into the waste bin.

1. Pull the mains plug (11) out of the socket.

1. Pull the suction hose (12) out of the opening of the suction hose connection (6). First press the locking mechanism (23) and then remove the suction hose.

1. Press the unlocking button for the dust bin (7) and remove the dust bin (5) using the handle.

1. Release the locking mechanism (24) under the dust bin lid (25) and remove the dust bin lid.
2. Turn the dust bin (5) upside down over a rubbish bin to empty it into the bin.

1. Place the dust bin lid (25) back onto the dust bin. Make sure that the mounting bracket (26) on the dust bin lid clicks into the opening (27) on the dust bin handle.

Cleaning/changing the coarse dust filter

WARNING

Risk of electric shock!

Improper use of the appli- ance may lead to serious inju- ry or death.

■ Always pull the mains plug out of the socket prior to changing or cleaning the coarse dust filter.

NOTICE

Risk of damage!

Improper handling of the appliance may result in damage.

■ Always use the correct filter for the appliance, otherwise the appliance may not function optimally.
■ Never vacuum without filters or with damaged filters. The vacuumed dust would penetrate the appliance and damage the motor.
■ Do not wash the filter in a washing machine or a dish-washer.

The coarse dust filter should be replaced regularly.

1. Pull the mains plug (11) out of the socket.
2. Remove the dust bin as described in section „Emptying the dust bin“ on page EN-20.

1. Remove the coarse dust filter (28) as illustrated.
2. Wash the coarse dust filter under running water. Should the coarse dust filter be damaged or no longer sufficiently cleanable, it must be replaced with a new one.
3. Allow the coarse dust filter to dry completely.
4. Insert the coarse dust filter back into the vacuum cleaner.
5. Insert the dust bin as described in section „Emptying the dust bin“ on page EN-20.

Cleaning the foam filter

1. Pull the mains plug (11) out of the socket.
2. Remove the dust bin (5) as described in section „Emptying the dust bin“ on page EN-20.

1. Remove the foam filter frame (29) and the foam filter(30).
2. Wash the foam filter under running water. If the foam filter is damaged or can no longer be sufficiently cleaned, it must be replaced with a new one.
3. Allow the foam filter to dry completely.
4. Reinsert the foam filter into the foam filter frame.

5. Re-insert the foam filter with the foam filter frame into the dust bin (5).

6. Insert the dust bin as described in section „Emptying the dust bin“ on page EN-20.

Cleaning/changing the hygiene filter

WARNING

Risk of electric shock! Improper use of the appliance may lead to serious injury or death.

■ Before changing or cleaning the hygiene filter, always pull the mains plug out of the socket.

NOTICE

Risk of damage! Improper handling of the appliance may result in damage.

■ Only use the appliance with the filters installed.
■ Never dry hygiene filters on a heater or with a hairdryer or tumble dryer, etc. It will become porous and can be damaged.

■ Never wash the hygiene filter in a washing machine.
■ Let the hygiene filter air-dry only.

The hygiene filter should be cleaned regularly.

If odours cannot be removed by cleaning or the filter is too heavily soiled, it must be replaced.

1. Pull the mains plug (11) out of the socket.

1. Remove the filter cover (9). To do this, press the the release mechanism (10)

1. Lift out the hygiene filter (31).
2. Rinse the hygiene filter only with clean water, tap it out and/or clean it with compressed air. Never use detergent or washing-up liquid to clean the hygiene filter.
3. Let the hygiene filter dry out completely.
4. Reinsert the hygiene filter and the filter cover.

Cleaning the appliance

■ Before cleaning the appliance, pull the mains plug out of the socket.
■ Ensure that no water seeps into the appliance.
■ Never immerse the appliance in water.
■ Only insert the mains plug into the socket if all appliance components are completely dry.

Improper cleaning of the appliance can impair the surface.

■ Do not use any abrasive cleaners (scouring or thinning agents) to clean the appliance.

with a damp cloth as required.

Never allow liquid to penetrate the vacuum cleaner.

- Occasionally clean the air vent with a soft brush.

Cleaning the floor nozzle

- Occasionally vacuum the underside of the floor nozzle (14) with the crevice nozzle (16).

Troubleshooting table

Malfunctions can occur in all electrical appliances. This does not necessarily mean there is a defect in the appliance. For this reason, check the tables to see if you can correct the malfunction.

Packaging

Our packaging is made of environmentally friendly, recyclable materials:

– Outer packaging made of cardboard
- Moulded parts made of foamed, CFC-free polystyrene (PS)
– Films and bags made of poly-ethylene (PE)
– Tension bands made of polypropylene (PP)

If you would like to dispose of the packaging, please dispose of it in an environmentally friendly way.

Waste prevention

According to the provisions of Directive 2008/98/EC, waste prevention measures always take priority over waste management.

For electrical and electronic devices, waste prevention measures include extending the lifespan of defective devices through repair and reselling used working appliances instead of disposing of them.

Disposing of old electrical devices in an environmentally- friendly manner

Electrical appliances contain harmful substances as well as valuable resources.

Every consumer is therefore required by law to dispose of old electrical appliances at an authorised collection or return point. They will thus be made available for environmentally-sound, resource-saving recycling.

You can dispose of old electrical appliances free of charge at your local recycling centre.
