ECO mode reduces energy consumption and limits cooling capacity. It is activated by pressing the button until only 1 LED is lit in cooling mode (approx. 16 °C interior temperature).
Can I connect the cooler to both AC and DC power simultaneously?
Yes, the cooler has an automatic priority circuit that will use the AC mains supply when both are connected, to save your vehicle battery.
How does the battery monitor work and what settings are available?
The battery monitor prevents excessive discharge of your vehicle battery. It has two modes: HIGH (switch-off at 11.7 V for 12 V systems) for starter batteries, and LOW (10.1 V) for deep-cycle batteries. Set via a slide switch on the device.
What is the maximum temperature difference achievable?
The cooler can cool up to 27 °C below ambient temperature and heat up to 65 °C.
How do I clean the cooler?
Disconnect the power. Clean the interior and exterior with a damp cloth. Do not immerse in water or use abrasive cleaners. Ensure air vents are free of dust.
The cooler is not cooling, and the fan is not spinning. What should I check?
First check the power supply: ensure the ignition is on (if in a vehicle) and the DC socket is clean. Check the fuse in the DC plug (replace if burnt with same rating). Also check the vehicle's fuse for the DC socket (usually 15 A).
Can I store medicine or food that requires precise temperature control?
The cooler is suitable for food storage, but for medicine, check if the cooling capacity meets the required temperature range. The device can maintain temperatures from 1 °C to 16 °C in cooling mode.
How do I remove the lid for cleaning or storage?
Open the lid to about a 30° angle, then pull it forward and lift diagonally off.
What do I do if the cooler stops working while driving?
Check if the battery monitor has switched off the device due to low voltage. If so, recharge the battery. Also verify the fuse and connections. If problems persist, contact an authorized service center.

NOTE

Before you put the new cooling device into operation, you should clean it inside and outside with a damp cloth for hygienic reasons (see also chapter "Cleaning and servicing" on page 13).

6.1 Tips to save energy

DOMETIC CoolPro TCX 14 - Tips to save energy - 1

NOTE

A ventilator in the interior space of the cooling device provides for the circulation of the cold air within the box. Thus a better cooling capacity will be achieved. In order that the cold air cannot reach the outside when opening the cooling device, it is equipped with a switch which turns off the ventilator as soon as the lid is opened.

  • Choose a well ventilated location which is protected from direct sunlight.
  • If you want to set an increased energy efficiency and a limited cooling capacity for the cooler device, use the device's ECO mode.
  • Allow warm food to cool down first before placing it in the cooling device to keep cool.
  • Do not open the cooling device more often than necessary.
  • Do not leave the cooling device open for longer than necessary.

6.2 Connecting to vehicle power

DOMETIC CoolPro TCX 14 - Connecting to vehicle power - 1

NOTE

If you connect the cooling device to the vehicle power, remember that you may have to turn on the ignition to supply it with power.

For safety reasons the cooler is equipped with an electronic system to prevent polarity reversal. This protects the cooler against short-circuiting when connecting to a battery.

6.3 Using the battery monitor

The device is equipped with a multi-level battery monitor that protects your vehicle battery against excessive discharging when the device is connected to the on-board DC supply.

If the cooler is operated when the vehicle ignition is switched off, the cooler switches off automatically as soon as the supply voltage falls below a set level. The cooler will switch back on once the battery has been recharged to the restart voltage level.
