HARMONIC FUZZ

The Walrus Audio Silt Harmonic Fuzz is a collaborative project with tube expert Jim Hagerman of Hagerman Amplification. Wielding an internal pre-amp tube, the Silt is a two-in-one fuzz that creates massively rich fuzz tones perfect for chords and rhythmic parts or with the press of a switch, adds uniquely harmonic overtones to the signal before hitting the tube. Crafted specifically for those seeking a harmonically rich fuzz experience, the Silt boasts an analog circuit with the distinctive warmth of a 12AU7 tube as its drive section, letting you explore a unique and wild sonic landscape.

CONTROLS

VOLUME

The “Vol” knob sets the overall output volume of the pedal.

TONE

Sculpt your output tone with a lowpass/highpass tilt tone control. Clockwise will cut the lows and boost the highs, and counter-clock-wise will cut the highs and boost the lows.

GAIN

Control the input gain into the fuzz circuit, from subtle, distortion-like crunch to full-throttle fuzz.

CONTOUR

Toggle between highpass (up), flat (middle), and lowpass (down) curves in the pre-tube EQ stage, like uncovering layers of sonic strata. Especially helpful when switching between different styles of pickups.

TUBE MAINTENANCE

Should the tube in your Silt ever fail, follow these steps to replace it. We recommend using a JJ 12AU7 (ECC82) tube.

1. Take out the four screws to remove the backplate.

2. Grab both ends of the tube's PCB and gently pull straight up.

3. Gently pull the tube out of the socket.

4. Put the new tube into the tube socket making sure all pins are aligned.

5. Connect the tube PCB back to the Silt's main PCB ensuring that all 10 pins are lined up. (8 pins on the longer side, 2 pins on the shorter side.)
