Frequently Asked Questions - Predator XB253Q ACER

How do I adjust the brightness on my Predator XB253Q?
Press the Navi/OK button to open the OSD menu, navigate to Picture and select Brightness. Use the slider to adjust from 0 to 100. Alternatively, you can assign the Brightness function to a hotkey using Hot Key Assignment in System settings.
How do I enable Adaptive-Sync on this monitor?
Go to the OSD menu, select Gaming, then set Adaptive-Sync to On. This enables dynamic refresh rate adjustment compatible with G-Sync and FreeSync. Note: Adaptive-Sync automatically sets Over Drive to Normal and Ultra-Low Latency to On.
What is VRB and how do I use it?
VRB (Visual Response Boost) reduces motion blur by overdriving pixels. In the OSD under Gaming, set VRB to Extreme or Normal for sharper dynamic images. Note: VRB is only available when refresh rate is 85 or 120 Hz (for 144 Hz models). When VRB is on, Adaptive-Sync is automatically turned off.
How do I set up the monitor for the first time?
1. Attach the stand arm to the base and tighten the screw. 2. Connect the monitor to your PC using HDMI or DP cable. 3. Plug in the AC power cord. 4. Press the power button (blue LED indicates power on). 5. Use OSD to adjust settings like brightness and input source.
How should I clean the screen?
Always unplug the monitor before cleaning. Use a soft cloth to gently wipe the screen and cabinet. Never spray or pour liquid directly onto the screen. Avoid ammonia or alcohol-based cleaners as they may damage the LCD.
What should I do if there is no picture on the screen?
Check the following: 1. Ensure the power cable is connected and the power switch is on (LED should be blue). 2. Verify the video signal cable (HDMI/DP) is securely attached to both monitor and PC. 3. Confirm the PC is powered on. 4. If LED is amber, the monitor is in power saving mode; press a key or move the mouse. 5. Adjust brightness/contrast via OSD or reset to defaults.
How do I switch between input sources?
Press the Input button on the monitor to cycle through available inputs (HDMI 1, HDMI 2, DP). Alternatively, go to OSD > System > Input and select the desired source. Enable Auto Source to automatically detect active inputs.
How can I adjust color settings like gamma or color temperature?
Open OSD and go to Color. Here you can adjust Gamma (default 2.2), Color Temp (Warm, Cool, Normal, Bluelight, User), and fine-tune RGB gains. You can also select Color Space (Standard, sRGB, DCI, etc.) and enable Grayscale Mode.
How do I enable HDR mode?
In OSD under Picture, set HDR to Auto or HDR-400. Auto mode automatically detects HDR signals. When HDR is enabled, the monitor switches to HDR mode and disables certain adjustments like contrast and color temperature for optimal HDR performance.
How do I reset the monitor to factory defaults?
Go to OSD, select Information page and choose Reset All Settings. Confirm to restore all settings to factory defaults. The monitor will revert to default brightness, contrast, color settings, and input source.

Tips and information for comfortable use

Computer users may complain of eyestrain and headaches after prolonged use. Users are also at risk of physical injury after long hours of working in front of a computer. Long work periods, bad posture, poor work habits, stress, inadequate working conditions, personal health and other factors greatly increase the risk of physical injury.

Incorrect computer usage may lead to carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, tenosynovitis or other musculoskeletal disorders. The following symptoms may appear in the hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, neck or back:

  • numbness, or a burning or tingling sensation
    • aching, soreness or tenderness
    • pain, swelling or throbbing
    • stiffness or tightness
    • coldness or weakness

If you have these symptoms, or any other recurring or persistent discomfort and/or pain related to computer use, consult a physician immediately and inform your company's health and safety department.

The following section provides tips for more comfortable computer use.

Finding your comfort zone

Find your comfort zone by adjusting the viewing angle of the monitor, using a footrest, or raising your sitting height to achieve maximum comfort. Observe the following tips:

• refrain from staying too long in one fixed posture
• avoid slouching forward and/or leaning backward
- stand up and walk around regularly to remove the strain on your leg muscles

Taking care of your vision

Long viewing hours, wearing incorrect glasses or contact lenses, glare, excessive room lighting, poorly focused screens, very small typefaces and low-contrast displays could stress your eyes. The following sections provide suggestions on how to reduce eyestrain.

Eyes

• Rest your eyes frequently.
- Give your eyes regular breaks by looking away from the monitor and focusing on a distant point.
- Blink frequently to keep your eyes from drying out.

Display

  • Keep your display clean.
  • Keep your head at a higher level than the top edge of the display so your eyes point downward when looking at the middle of the display.
  • Adjust the display brightness and/or contrast to a comfortable level for enhanced text readability and graphics clarity.

- Eliminate glare and reflections by:

  • placing your display in such a way that the side faces the window or any light source
  • minimizing room light by using drapes, shades or blinds
    • using a task light
    • changing the display's viewing angle
    • using a glare-reduction filter
    • using a display visor, such as a piece of cardboard extended from the display's top front edge

  • Avoid adjusting your display to an awkward viewing angle.

  • Avoid looking at bright light sources, such as open windows, for extended periods of time.

Developing good work habits

Develop the following work habits to make your computer use more relaxing and productive:

• Take short breaks regularly and often.
• Perform some stretching exercises.
- Breathe fresh air as often as possible.
• Exercise regularly and maintain a healthy body.
