Frequently Asked Questions - MD2000 ElectriQ

What is the difference between a dehumidifier and a humidifier?
The MD2000 is a dehumidifier, which removes excess moisture from the air. A humidifier adds moisture. This unit uses Peltier technology to condense and collect water.
How does the auto shut-off work?
When the 2-litre water tank is full, the dehumidifier automatically switches off and the power button LED turns orange. Empty the tank and press the power button to resume.
How often should I clean the filter?
Under normal conditions, clean the mesh dust filter every three weeks by sliding it out and vacuuming or washing with mild detergent. Allow to dry fully before reinserting.
Can I use the dehumidifier in a bathroom or laundry room?
No, the manual states the unit should not be installed in laundry or wet rooms where humidity exceeds 85% RH. It is for indoor use only in dry locations.
Why does the LED turn orange?
The orange LED indicates the water tank is full or the unit has automatically shut off. After emptying the tank, press the power button to restart; the LED will turn green.
How do I empty the water tank?
Turn off the unit, slide out the rear water tank by its handle, unclip the lid, empty the water into a sink or toilet, reattach the lid, and slide the tank back in.
What is the recommended clearance around the unit?
Keep at least 30 cm distance from walls or objects to ensure proper airflow and maximum performance.
Can I use an extension cord?
No, never connect the unit using an extension cord. Plug directly into an earthed outlet. If an outlet is unavailable, have a qualified electrician install one.
What should I do if the dehumidifier does not start?
Check that the water tank is empty and properly inserted, the unit is plugged in, the fuse is intact, and the power outlet works. If issue persists, contact support.
How do I clean the water tank?
Every few weeks, partially fill the tank with clean water and a little mild detergent, swish, empty, and rinse. Do not use a dishwasher. Dry thoroughly before reinserting.
