What amplifier power is recommended for the KLH Beacon?

An amplifier delivering 20 to 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms is recommended. The Beacon has a sensitivity of 86 dB, so moderate power is sufficient for most rooms.

Can I place the Beacon on a bookshelf or do I need stands?

The Beacon is a bookshelf speaker and can be placed on a sturdy shelf, but for optimal soundstage and bass response, use speaker stands that position the tweeter at ear level.

How far from the wall should I place the speakers?

To avoid excessive bass boom, keep the Beacons at least 6 inches from the rear wall and at least 2 feet from side walls. Experiment with positioning for best imaging.

Can I bi-wire or bi-amp the KLH Beacon?

The Beacon has a single set of binding posts, so it does not support bi-wiring or bi-amping. Use standard single-wire connections.

Is there a break-in period for new speakers?

Yes, the drivers may sound slightly stiff initially. Play music at moderate levels for 20–40 hours to allow the suspension components to loosen for optimal performance.

What type of speaker wire should I use?

Use 16-gauge or thicker speaker wire for runs up to 50 feet. For longer runs, 14-gauge is recommended. Ensure proper polarity (+ to +, - to -).

Can I use the Beacon as a center channel?

While the Beacon is primarily designed as a stereo bookshelf speaker, you can use a single unit as a center channel if you have an identical matching speaker. For best timbre matching, use all Beacons across the front.

How do I clean the grille or cabinet?

Remove the grille by gently pulling it off. Vacuum dust from the grille cloth using a soft brush attachment. Wipe the cabinet with a dry microfiber cloth. Do not use any cleaning solvents.

What is the warranty on KLH Beacon?

KLH Audio offers a 10-year limited warranty covering defects in drivers and crossover components. The cabinet and cosmetic items are covered for 2 years. Keep your original receipt.

Are replacement parts available?

Yes, KLH Audio provides replacement drivers, crossovers, and grilles. Contact customer service or visit the official website to order parts. Do not attempt repairs yourself.

UNPACKING

The package should be placed on the floor or table top with the box flaps up. Cut the tape with a utility knife to open the package. Fold the carton flaps back and carefully slide the speaker and packaging from the box, or turn the box over with flaps open and remove the box. Stand the speaker and packing upright, making sure the speaker is right side up, and remove the packing material.

The Beacon surround speakers have quality nickel-plated binding posts that will accommodate stripped wire, spade connectors or banana plugs. Be sure to use quality speaker cables, up to 12 gauge (AWG). The lowest gauge possible is recommended. Before using banana plugs, be sure to remove the black and red inserts on the binding posts.

Pure electrical circuit lines without any symbols

AMPLIFICATION

Conventional amplification involves a single stereo amplifier wired to a single set of binding posts with straps connecting the second set of posts as seen in diagram above.

Simply attach the positive wire + to the red post, and the negative wire – to the black post.

ROOM POSITION

The placement of your surround speakers is very important in regard to home theater usage. The surround speakers complete the theater listening experience with ambient effects that put the listener in the middle of the action.

The Beacon surround speakers are sonically matched to work seamlessly with all other KLH speakers, and will deliver optimum performance in all home theater applications.

MOUNTING

The Beacon surround speakers can be placed behind or to either side of the main listening area. Mounting options are provided with the keyhole mount, which is used for conventional flat wall mounting, or the threaded insert which fits most standard mounting hardware, offering more flexible positioning. Be sure to install any additional mounting hardware according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Our 10-year parts warranty begins from purchase date of the item (invoice date). For warranty/service issues, please contact your place of purchase. Please keep your original receipt. The warranty covers any production and material defects of product. Warranty registration may be completed at klhaudio.com/warranty

The following is NOT COVERED by the warranty:

1. Accidents, misuse, poor maintenance, electrical overloads such as lightning or voltage.
2. Repair must be performed by an authorized KLH dealer or service center
3. Incorrect installation of product.
4. Altered serial number.
5. Transportation costs for service call.
6. Purchase of KLH products from unauthorized reseller.

Replacement item cannot exceed the cost of the item under warranty. The supplier is responsible for only repair or replacement.
