Frequently Asked Questions - Double Select 6969 OBH NORDICA

How do I adjust the temperature on the OBH Nordica Double Select 6969?
Turn the temperature selector to the desired setting from 1 (lowest, pale) to 5 (highest, darker). The indicator light will turn green when the set temperature is reached.
How long does it take to bake waffles?
Baking time depends on the batter and desired doneness. Check periodically; the waffle maker's thermostat maintains the set temperature. The signal lamp may switch between orange and green during baking.
Can I use metal utensils with the waffle plates?
No, use only plastic or wooden utensils to avoid damaging the non-stick coating. Metal utensils can scratch the plates.
How should I clean the waffle maker?
Unplug and let it cool completely. Wipe the plates with a damp cloth and a little washing-up liquid if needed. Never use hard or sharp utensils. Clean the rubber gasket by carefully lifting its lower edge and wiping around it. Do not immerse in water.
Why does the indicator light change between orange and green?
The orange light indicates the appliance is heating. When it turns green, the set temperature is reached. During baking, the thermostat cycles to maintain temperature, causing the light to switch between colors.
What should I do before first use?
Unwind the cord completely, dry the plates with a damp cloth, and lightly grease them with cooking grease. Discard the first two batches of waffles.
Can I use the waffle maker outdoors?
No, the waffle maker is for indoor domestic use only. Do not use it outdoors or near water.
What is the warranty coverage?
The warranty covers manufacturing defects according to current law. You need to present the cash receipt with purchase date. The appliance must be returned to the store of purchase.
How should I store the waffle maker?
Allow it to cool completely, clean it as instructed, and store in a dry place. Keep the cord tidy and out of reach of children under 8 years old.
Do you have a basic recipe for crispy waffles?
Yes: mix 400 g wheat flour, 150 g sugar, 1.5 tsp baking powder, 1.5 tsp vanilla sugar. Add 6 dl milk, 175 g melted butter, and 2 eggs. Whip thoroughly, let rest 30 minutes in a cool place. Bake and serve warm.

Before use

Unwind the cord completely. Dry the plates with a damp cloth and lubricate with scooking grease before you use the waffle maker for the first time. Do not eat the first two bakings.

Use

Plug the appliance to a wall outlet and the signal lamp surrounding the temperature controller will turn orange. Set the wanted temperature by pulling the temperature selector to the wanted setting (1-5). Setting 1 corresponds to low temperature (pale baking) and 5 corresponds to high temperature (darker baking). We recommend that you try your way to get the result that you want. When the set temperature is reached, the signal lamp turns green. The waffle maker is now ready for use.

Baking

Stir the batter before you pour it in the waffle maker in order that the flour does not remain at the bottom of the bowl. Pour the batter in the centre of the lower plates and close the waffle maker and press the plates for a few seconds to spread the batter evenly. It is important that the handles are not completely closed during baking, as this will prevent the waffle from “fermenting”. The signal lamp may change between orange and green during baking, which means that the set temperature is kept by the thermostat.

Baking time

The baking time depends on the batter and the degree of baking you want. When you think that the waffles are done, open the appliance and lift the waffles with a plastic or wooden utensil (metal could damage the coating). Put the waffles on a grid to keep it crispy.

Cleaning

Always unplug after use and before cleaning. Never clean the waffle maker when still connected to the wall outlet. Let the waffle maker cool completely before cleaning. Never immerse the appliance or the cord in water or any other liquid.

Only use a damp cloth and possibly with a little washing-up liquid for cleaning the plates. Never use hard or sharp utensils to clean the plates in order not to damage the coating. Around the lower handle there is a rubber gasket for protection against hot steam. Clean the gasket by carefully lifting the lower edge and first clean around it using a humid cloth and do not forget to insert the gasket after cleaning. Wipe the housing with a damp cloth.

Basic recipe for crispy waffles

400 g wheat flour

150 g sugar

175 g butter

6 dl milk

2 eggs

1.5 tsp baking powder
1.5 tsp vanilla sugar

Mix all the dry ingredients. Add milk and melted butter. Whip thoroughly and add the eggs. You may use a hand mixer or an electric mixer. Let the butter rest in a cool place for about 30 minutes before baking the waffles. The batter should be thick. Bake the waffles and put them on a grid to stay crispy. You get the best waffles if you eat them while they are still warm.
