Damage

Location of Unit

• The unit must be placed on a flat stable surface and not subjected to vibrations.
• Do not place the unit on sloped or unstable surfaces as the unit may fall off or tip over.
  • The mains socket must be located near the unit and should be easily accessible.

Temperature

• Avoid extreme degrees of temperature, either hot or cold. Place the unit well away from heat sources such as radiators or gas / electric fires.
• Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and other sources of heat.

Interference

Earphones

Knowing When to Replace the Batteries

• When the batteries become weak, the sound becomes weak and distorted.
• When the batteries are completely exhausted, the power is turned off.

Handling the Batteries

• Improper or incorrect use of batteries may cause corrosion or battery leakage, which could cause personal injury or damage to property.
• Install the batteries correctly by following the polarity (+ and −) indications in the battery compartment.
• Use only the types of batteries which are indicated in this manual.
• Do not install new batteries with used ones and do not mix different types of batteries.
• Do not dispose of the used batteries as domestic waste. Dispose of them in accordance with local regulations.
• If you are not going to use the unit for a long time, remove the batteries to avoid damage from battery leakage and corrosion.
• Due to the short battery life span of some alkaline batteries, it is recommended to use rechargeable batteries. You will need to purchase a charger to charge the rechargeable batteries. This saves cost and is more environmental-friendly.

Mains Power

• This unit is designed to operate with the provided mains adapter.
• Connecting the unit to any other power source may cause damage to the unit. Unwind the mains adapter cable to its full length. Connect the end of the cable to the DC IN 6V-500mA Socket at the side of the unit and then connect the mains adapter to the mains socket. Make sure the mains adapter is firmly inserted into the mains socket. The unit is now connected and ready to use.

Using Earphones

Turn down the volume before connecting the earphones. Slowly raise the volume with the earphones on until you reach your desired volume.

Long-term exposure to loud music may cause hearing damage. It is best to avoid extreme volume when using earphones, especially for extended periods of time.

• To switch the unit off completely, unplug the power adapter from the mains socket.

Adjusting the Volume

- Adjust the volume to the desired level by pressing +/- Button.

Setting Equaliser

1. Press MENU and then repeatedly to select . Press SELECT to confirm.
2. Press repeatedly to select . Press SELECT to confirm.
3. Press ▲▼ repeatedly to set the level of Treble and Bass. Press SELECT to confirm.
4. Press ▲▼ to set the level of Treble and Bass. Press ← SELECT to confirm.

Language

1. Press MENU and then repeatedly to select . Press SELECT to confirm.

2. Press repeatedly to select . Press SELECT to confirm.

3. Press repeatedly to select the desired language. Press SELECT to confirm.

Factory Reset

1. Press MENU and then repeatedly to select . Press SELECT to confirm.
2. Press repeatedly to select . Press SELECT to confirm.
3. Press ▲▼ to select . Press ← SELECT to confirm.

After the factory reset, all the tuned stations, DAB/FM preset stations will be erased.

Software Version

1. Press MENU and then repeatedly to select . Press SELECT to confirm.

3. Press MENU to exit.

DAB Operation

When you turn on the radio it will automatically search and store all the available stations. You may conduct an additional Full Scan to ensure all stations are picked up and stored. It is also recommended every few months to run a new scan to pick up any new DAB/DAB+ that may have begun broadcasting after your radio scanned last time.

1. For initial use, your radio will conduct a full scan and store stations list in memory.
2. Once the scanning is completed, the DAB/DAB+ stations will be displayed in alphanumeric order. The first station in the list will be selected.

• The DAB/DAB+ stations will be displayed and stored in alphanumeric order.
• If no DAB/DAB+ signal is found, it may be necessary for you to relocate your radio.

The clock will be updated automatically if you can receive DAB/FM signal in your location. In order to synchronize to the current local time, you must leave it on the DAB/FM station for a period of time.

Display

This feature enables you to select the station information which shows on the LCD display.

1. Press MENU button, and then press ▲buttons to select , press SELECT button to confirm.
2. Press ▲buttons to browse through Scrolling text, Signal strength, Program Type, Ensemble, Frequency, Signal quality, Bitrate and Codec, Format, and then press SELECT button to confirm your selection.

Showing Signal Strength

While you selected Signal strength, a signal bar with the strength of the current station will show on the LCD display.

The indicator on the signal bar shows the minimum acceptable signal level.

Stations with signal strength below the minimum signal level may not provide a steady stream of audio.

Full Scan

This feature enables your radio to scan for all available stations.

Press MENU button, and then press ▲buttons to select , press SELECT button to confirm.

Station Order

This feature enables your radio to display the stations in different order.

1. Press MENU button, and then press buttons to select , press SELECT button to confirm.
2. Press buttons to browse and , and then press SELECT button to confirm your selection.

Alphanumeric Display all stations in alphanumeric order.
Ensemble List	currently broadcasting active stations before inactive ones.

Station List

This feature enables you to select a station from available station list.

1. Press MENU button, and then press ▲buttons to select , press SELECT button to confirm.
2. Or, while a program is playing, press buttons to show station list.
3. Press buttons to browse stations list, and then press SELECT button to confirm. The selected station will be broadcasting.

Selecting FM Mode

1. Press MODE button repeatedly to select FM mode.
2. For initial use, it will start at the beginning of the FM frequency range (87.50 MHz). Or it will play the last FM station you were listening to.
3. To manually change the FM frequency, make sure no other order/system setting is going on, press ▲▼ buttons to change the frequency by 0.05 MHz per step.
4. To automatically scan, while FM frequency shows up, press buttons first and then press SELECT button, your radio will skip forwards or backwards until it reached the next available station.

The clock will be updated automatically if you can receive DAB/FM signal in your location. In order to synchronize to the current local time, you must leave it on the DAB/FM station for a period of time.

This feature enables you to select the station information which shows on the LCD display.

1. Press MENU button, and then press buttons to select , press SELECT button to confirm.
2. Press buttons to browse through Radio text, Program Type, Ps, Audio info and then press SELECT button to confirm your selection.

Scan Setting

By default, FM scans stop at any available station. This may result in a poor signal-to-noise ratio (hiss) from weak stations.

1. To change the scan settings to stop only at stations with good signal strength, press MENU button, and then press buttons to select , press SELECT button to confirm.

2. Press buttons to browse , and then press SELECT button to confirm.

Audio Setting

By default, all stereo stations are reproduced in stereo. For weak stations, this may result in a poor signal-to-noise ratio (hiss).

Storing Preset Stations

This is the same for DAB/DAB+ and FM stations.

Your radio can store up to 10 of your favourite DAB/DAB+ and FM stations as preset stations. This will enable you to access your favourite stations quickly and easily.

1. Press and hold the PRESETS button until display show <Preset Store < 1: (Empty) >>.
2. Press ▲ buttons to browse through the preset numbers 1-10.
3. Select one preset number and then press SELECT button, display will show .

Recalling Preset Stations

This is the same for DAB/DAB+ and FM stations.

1. Press MODE button repeatedly to select DAB or FM mode.
2. Press PRESETS button to show the saved preset stations.
3. Press buttons to select the stored preset station you want to play, and then press SELECT button to confirm.

AUX IN Mode

1. Before connecting to the mains socket, use a 3.5 mm audio cable (not included) to connect to your external audio device through the AUX IN Socket on the side of unit.
2. Connect power adapter to mains socket, press button to switch unit on.
3. Press MODE button repeatedly to select Auxiliary Input mode.
4. You may operate your audio device directly for playback features.
5. Press VOLUME +/- to adjust the volume to your desired level.

If there is low audio input or without audio input continuously for 10 minutes in Aux in mode, the unit will automatically switch to off mode to save power.

Cleaning the Unit

Ensure the unit is fully unplugged from the mains socket before cleaning.

• To clean the unit, wipe the case with a slightly moist, lint-free cloth.
- Do not use any cleaning fluids containing alcohol, ammonia or abrasives.
• Do not spray an aerosol at or near the unit.

Hints and Tips

If a problem does occur, it may often be due to something very minor. The following table contains various tips.

No coverage in your area or poor reception	Adjust the position of the aerial.
The display is blank	This may occur if the broadcaster changes the label of a service or removes a label while tuned. The unit will try to re-tune or perform a scan.
