The USB OUTPUT 5V -1A Charging Port is only suitable for charging 5V -1A (or less) mobile phone device. It is not suitable charging other device which require more than 5V -1A of power. It is also not suitable for media playback purposes.

Important Information about Water Resistant Operation

For proper water resistant operation, make sure the plastic jack cover of the unit is completely flush with the unit by pressing along the entire edge of the cover until it is completely and securely in place.

The unit is splash proof rated. However, DO NOT immerse the unit in water. It may cause product failure.

• Make sure the jack cover and surrounding surfaces are completely dry before opening the jack cover to prevent moisture from damaging the internal electronics.
- Keep the jack cover free of dirt, sand, or other objects that can interfere with proper sealing. If for any reason the jack cover is not making a tight waterproof seal water may enter the unit.
- DO NOT clean unit with oily soaps or use chemicals or solvents. Clean with damp cloth.

Connecting to the Mains Supply

- This unit is designed to operate with an AC power supply or with the built-in battery.

- Unwind the mains adapter cable to its full length. Connect the end of the cable to the DC IN 12V -2A Socket at the rear of the unit and then connect the mains adapter to the mains socket. Make sure the mains adapter is firmly inserted into the mains socket. It starts battery charging and the unit is now ready to use.

- Charge the internal battery for 12 hours before first time use. Do not overcharge the unit. The unit will automatically charge battery when unit connected to mains socket, and it will automatically stop charging once the battery fully charged.

- Once the unit connected to mains socket, the main unit will use mains power automatically.

Charging from the USB OUTPUT Charging Port

The USB OUTPUT 5V-1A Charging Port is designed only for charging mobile devices (e.g. MP3 player, mobile phone, etc). It supplies 5 V DC at a charging current of up to 1000mA (1 A).

Use a USB cable (not included) to connect mobile device to the USB OUTPUT 5V-1A Charging Port of the unit and the mobile device will start charging.

Using Earphones

Turn down the volume before connecting the earphones (not included). Slowly raise the volume with the earphones on until you reach your desired volume. When earphones are connected, the speaker automatically mutes.

• Always unclip and extend the aerial when listening to DAB or FM radio. The aerial has a swivel base so can be set to different angles for best reception.
- Extend the aerial before switching to DAB mode for the first time. This will ensure that the initial scan captures all stations in your area.

Powering ON/OFF

While using battery power:

  • Press ⬆to switch the unit on.
  • Press again to switch the unit off.

While using mains power:

  • Press to switch the unit on.
  • Press ⏻/I again to switch the unit in Standby mode.
  • To switch the unit off completely, unplug the power adapter from the mains socket.

Adjusting the Volume

  • Press VOL+/VOL- on the unit to adjust the volume.
  • Press MUTE button to turn the sound off. The display will show "Volume Muted". Press MUTE button again to resume normal listening.

Language

  1. When in DAB, FM or AUX IN mode, press MENU and then repeatedly to select . Press button to confirm.
  2. Press button repeatedly to select the desired language. Press button to confirm.

Factory Reset

  1. When in DAB, FM or AUX IN mode, press MENU and then ▲▼ repeatedly to select . Press ← button to confirm.

After the factory reset, all the tuned stations, DAB/FM preset stations will be erased.

Software Version

  1. Press MENU and then ▲▼ button repeatedly to select . Press ← button to confirm.
  2. Press MENU to exit.

When you turn on the radio it will automatically search and store all the available stations. You may conduct an additional Full Scan to ensure all stations are picked up and stored. It is also recommended every few months to run a new scan to pick up any new DAB/DAB+ that may have begun broadcasting after your radio scanned last time.

  1. For initial use, your radio will conduct a full scan and store stations list in memory.
  2. Once the scanning is completed, the DAB/DAB+ stations will be displayed in alphanumeric order. The first station in the list will be selected.

  • If no DAB/DAB+ signal is found, it may be necessary for you to relocate your radio.

Full Scan

This feature enables your radio to scan for all available stations in DAB mode. Press MENU and then press ▲▼ button repeatedly to , press ← button to confirm.

Manual Scan

This function is for advanced users only. Stations are selected from the station list.

Manual scan enables you to tune to each multiplex channel, check if a multiplex is present and measure the signal strength.

  1. Press MENU button, and then press button to select , then press button to confirm. The display will switch to read multiplex channel number and frequency.

  2. Press Button to select through the channel numbers, and then press ← button to tune to the displayed channel number. If there is a multiplex on this channel, the multiplex name will be shown. A signal strength bar will be displayed.

  3. To playing the station, first press MENU button to exit manual tune.

Manual Tuning

  1. While in ON mode, press MENU to display the menu.
  2. Press button to select , then press button to confirm.
  3. Press ▲▼ button to select between Enable or Disable. Press ←button to confirm.

If Enable is selected, you may press ▲ button to select your desired station.

If Disable is selected, you may press button to select your desired station, and then press to confirm.

Viewing Station Information

This feature enables you to select the station information which will show on the display.

  1. Press MENU button, and then press ▲▼ button to select , press ← button to confirm.
  2. Press button to browse through Scrolling text, Signal strength, Program Type, Ensemble, Frequency, Signal quality, Bitrate and Codec, Format, Time and Date, and then press ← button to confirm your selection.

Showing Signal Strength

While you selected Signal strength, a signal bar with the strength of the current station will show on the display.

The indicator on the signal bar shows the minimum acceptable signal level.

Stations with signal strength below the minimum signal level may not provide a steady stream of audio.

Storing Preset Stations

This is the same for DAB/DAB+ and FM stations.

Your radio can store up to 12 of your favourite DAB/DAB+ stations as preset stations. This will enable you to access your favourite stations quickly and easily.

While a station is playing, you can:

  • Press and hold one of preset buttons 1/7, 2/8, 3/9, 4/10, 5/11 or 6/12 until display shows .
  • Press SHIFT button and then press and hold one of preset buttons 1/7, 2/8, 3/9, 4/10, 5/11 or 6/12 until display shows .

Recalling Preset Stations

  1. Press MODE button to select the DAB mode.
  2. Press one of preset buttons 1/7, 2/8, 3/9, 4/10, 5/11 or 6/12 to broadcast to the preset station 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6.
  3. Press SHIFT button and then press one of preset buttons 1/7, 2/8, 3/9, 4/10, 5/11 or 6/12 to broadcast the preset station 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12.

Selecting FM Mode

  1. Press MODE button repeatedly to select FM mode.
  2. For initial use, it will start at the beginning of the FM frequency range (87.50MHz). Or it will play the last FM station you were listening to.
  3. To manually change the FM frequency, make sure no other order/system setting is going on. Press ▲ button to change the frequency by 0.05MHz per step.
  4. To automatically scan, while FM frequency shows up, press and hold ▲ button. Your radio will skip forwards or backwards until it reached the next available station.

By default, all stereo stations are reproduced in stereo. For weak stations, this may result in a poor signal-to-noise ratio (hiss).

  3. Press SHIFT button and then press one of preset buttons 1/7, 2/8, 3/9, 4/10, 5/11 or 6/12 to broadcast the preset station 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12.

The unit has a Bluetooth ^® function that can receive a signal within 10 metres.

Pair the unit with a Bluetooth ^® device to listen to music:

  1. Press MODE button repeatedly to select Bluetooth mode.
  2. The display will show .
  3. Activate your Bluetooth ^® device and select the search mode.
  4. "Juice Garden" will appear on your Bluetooth® device.
  5. Select "Juice Garden" and enter "0000" for the password if necessary.

The unit will automatically switch to standby mode (running by Main power) or off (running by Battery power) after 10 minutes if the source device is disconnect, switch off or the volume is too close to mute.

NFC (Near Field Communication)

NFC enables you pair and connect with Bluetooth ^® devices in a easy way.

  1. Press MODE button repeatedly to select Bluetooth mode.
  2. Make sure that your NFC is turned "On" on your mobile device.
  3. Hold your mobile device about 2 cm close to NFC logo on the left side of unit for receiving an auto-connection between your mobile device and radio.
  4. Your device then will turn-on Bluetooth® automatically and will pair your device with radio. No additional settings are necessary.

AUX IN Mode

The AUX IN mode allows for quick and easy connection to an MP3 player or other external audio sources.

  1. Before connecting to the mains socket, use a 3.5 mm audio cable (not included) to connect to your external audio device through the AUX IN Socket on the rear side of the unit.
  2. Connect power adapter to mains socket, press button to switch unit on.
  3. Press MODE button repeatedly to select (AUX IN) mode.
  4. In AUX IN mode, you may operate your audio device directly for playback features.
  5. To gain optimal volume levels, adjusting the output volume level on the audio device as well is recommended.

Setting Sleep

This function enables your unit to switch to standby mode by itself after a set sleep time when unit runs by mains power.

  1. Press MENU button, and then press ▲▼ button to select . Press ← button to confirm.
  2. Press ▲▼ button to view options: Sleep off, 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes. Select Sleep off and then press ← button to confirm. Sleep function will be switched off.
  3. Press ▲▼ button to select 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes. Press ← button to confirm. The sleep icon ⏻ will show on the display. To view the set sleep time, redo above step 1.

Setting Equaliser

This feature enables you to set a sound equalization profile. The equalization setting will change the tone of the sound from your radio.

  1. Press MENU button, and then press ▲▼ button to select . Press ◀button to confirm.
  2. Press ▲▼ button to select or , and then press ← button to confirm.
  3. Press ▲▼ button to browse through and , and then press ← button to confirm. Press ▲▼ button to set the level of and (-3 to +3), and then press ← button to confirm.

This feature enables you to change the contrast of Power on or Standby mode while using the mains power.

  3. Press button to select through contrast level: High, Medium or Low, and then press button to confirm.

The unit will go to the selected contrast level 10 seconds after the unit is switched off to Standby mode. The display will show in high contrast level for any operation applied, and then resume to the selected contrast level after 10 seconds.

Desired station not found Weak signal. Search manually.
No coverage in your area or poor receptionAdjust the position of the aerial.
The display is blank This may occur if the broadcaster changes the label of a service or removes a label while tuned. The unit will try to re-tune or perform a scan.
