Assembling the vacuum cleaner

The hose connector (A) is attached to the vacuum cleaner's air intake duct (see above). Then fit the hose handle to the telescopic tube (D), and finally attach the floor brush (E) to the other end of the telescopic tube. The telescopic tube is equipped with a click system at the handle as well as at the floor brush. Consequently, it is important to make sure that both hose and floor brush are correctly attached to the telescopic tube. When the hose or the floor brush is disassembled, press the appropriate button on the telescopic tube.

If the hose must be disassembled from the vacuum cleaner, press the two buttons on the sides of the hose connector while simultaneously pulling upwards.

IMPORTANT!

Only attach the original hose connector to the vacuum cleaner's air intake duct. Never use hoses from other vacuum cleaners as these may get stuck.

The floor brush

The floor brush can be used for cleaning carpets as well as hard floors. It has two positions:

Position 1 (the brushes are raised) Use when vacuum cleaning carpets. Indicated by the symbol without brushes on the floor brush.

Position 2 (the brushes are lowered) Use when vacuum cleaning hard floors such as parquet, tiles, etc. Indicated by the symbol with brushes on the floor brush.

Select position by pressing the foot pedal with the required symbol.

Additional accessories

The vacuum cleaner is equipped with additional nozzles. These accessories are stored in the accessory compartment in the vacuum cleaner.

Cross-sectional diagram of a mechanical component with labeled parts A and B (no text or symbols beyond labels)

A) Upholstery and dusting brush nozzle

B) Crevice nozzle

Upholstery nozzle

This nozzle is used for vacuum cleaning upholstered furniture, cushions, curtains, etc. The upholstery nozzle is part of the dusting brush nozzle. When you wish to use the upholstery nozzle the brushes are detached. This is done by pulling the brush section forwards. When you wish to use the dusting brush nozzle, push the brush section back on until it clicks.

Dusting brush nozzle

This nozzle is used for vacuum cleaning shelves, books, panels, etc. The nozzle must be attached to the upholstery nozzle before vacuum cleaning as described above.

Crevice nozzle

This nozzle is used for vacuum cleaning crevices, corners, etc.

Cord reel

The vacuum cleaner is equipped with a practical cord reel function making it easy to unwind the cord to the required length.

The cord is unwound by pulling the plug until the required cord length is obtained (approximately 8 meters maximum). The cord is fitted with a yellow marker indicating the ideal unwound cord length. The plug is applied to a power socket (remember to switch it on).

Important!

The cord may NOT be unwound further than the red marker on the cord. Avoid damage to the cord reel function – do not ever pull a fully unwound cord.

To rewind the cord press the foot pedal (G), and the cord is automatically reeled into the vacuum cleaner. It is recommended that you hold back the cord slightly during rewind to prevent the plug from rebounding onto the vacuum cleaner, thus protecting the cord reel and plug.

How to use the vacuum cleaner

Before the vacuum cleaner is used for the first time, make sure that the dustbag is placed correctly (see how in the section 'How to replace the dustbag').

When all vacuum cleaner parts are installed and the cord has been unwound to the required length and applied to a power socket, the vacuum cleaner is ready for use. Press the On / off foot pedal (J) to switch on the vacuum cleaner.

Suction power regulator

The suction power can be regulated to adjust to the object of cleaning or how dirty it is.

Suction power is regulated by means of the button on the vacuum cleaner (I).

MIN: Use for delicate surfaces and material such as curtains, etc.

MAX: Use for e.g. fitted carpets.

Suction power regulator on the handle

The suction regulator on the handle (C) is ideal for brief reductions in suction power. The air inlet valve can be manually adjusted to let the nozzle slide easily over the material. REMEMBER to push the valve shut again for optimal results.

Parking system

The vacuum cleaner is equipped with two parking systems; temporary (short term) and permanent (long term) parking.

The temporary parking system is used if you wish to put down the vacuum cleaner during cleaning, e.g. to move a piece of furniture. The hook on the back of the floor brush is placed in the holder (H) located on the back of the vacuum cleaner.

The permanent parking system is used when you have finished vacuum cleaning and wish to put the vacuum cleaner away. The hook on the telescopic tube is placed in the holder located underneath the main body.

Dustbag full indicator

The vacuum cleaner is equipped with a dustbag full indicator (L). This indicates when the dustbag needs to be replaced.

The indicator is a small lamp that switches on when the dustbag needs to be replaced. When the lamp turns red, it is important to replace the dustbag, even if it is not completely full, as the indicator reacts to the air flow.

The indicator measures the air flow of the dustbag. If air flow is low, the vacuum cleaner will regard this as a full dustbag and the indicator will be activated.

If the indicator is still activated after you have replaced the dustbag, this may be a sign

- that air flow through hose, tube, air intake duct, or brush is blocked. Check where the clogging is and remove it before switching on the vacuum cleaner again.

- that the motor filter is dirty/clogged and should be replaced (see section about this later on)

- that the exhaust filter is dirty/clogged and should be replaced (see section about this later on)

Do not use the vacuum cleaner when the dustbag full indicator is activated. Make sure to replace the dustbag immediately instead.

How to replace the dustbag

To replace the dustbag, switch off the vacuum cleaner and remove the plug from the power socket.

Open the lid to the dust compartment by pulling the handle (K) on the front of the vacuum cleaner. Then remove the dustbag by pulling it out of the holder in the dust compartment. The bag is equipped with an additional closing mechanism preventing dust from escaping the bag when it has been removed from the vacuum cleaner. Pull the middle piece of the cardboard collar to close the bag. You can now dispose of the dustbag.

Line drawing of a mechanical device with an open lid and internal components (no text or symbols)

The new dustbag is attached to the holder.

Be careful not to trap or puncture the dustbag when closing the lid to the dust compartment

IMPORTANT!

The vacuum cleaner may NEVER be used without a dustbag. The dust compartment lid cannot be closed if there is no dustbag in the compartment. Do not apply excessive force attempting to close the lid.

Replacing the filters

The motor filter

The vacuum cleaner is equipped with a motor filter located in a holder in the dust compartment. This motor filter should be replaced every time you start a new pack of dustbags (or approximately every 6 months).

The motor filter is replaced by taking out the holder from the dust compartment and carefully loosening the filter from the holder. Then insert a new filter and place the holder back in the dust compartment.

IMPORTANT!

The vacuum cleaner may NEVER be used without a motor filter

HEPA exhaust filter

The vacuum cleaner is equipped with a HEPA exhaust filter which is placed in a compartment just in front of the suction power regulator. This HEPA filter should be replaced every time you start a new pack of dustbags (or approximately every 6 months).

To remove the HEPA filter, open the lid to the compartment by pressing the release button on the front of the compartment lid (see illustration).

OBH NORDICA White Satin 7256 - HEPA exhaust filter - 1

Replace the HEPA filter and re-attach the lid.

IMPORTANT!

The vacuum cleaner may NEVER be used without a HEPA exhaust filter.

Cleaning the vacuum cleaner itself

The vacuum cleaner and the accessories can be wiped with a damp cloth. Remember to remove the plug from the power socket while the vacuum cleaner is cleaned.

What do I do if....

• the vacuum cleaner will not start

  • Pull the plug from the power socket and check if there is a visible defect to cord or plug. If this is the case, the vacuum cleaner must be returned for repair to the store where it was purchased.
  • Check if a mains fuse has blown. If this is the case, replace the fuse.

- the vacuum cleaner has insufficient suction power

  • Check if the suction power regulator is set to the required suction power. If this is the case, set the suction power using the slide switch.
  • Check if the dustbag is full. If this is the case, replace the dustbag.
  • Check if the slide valve for suction power regulator on the handle is open. If this is the case, push the valve shut.
  • Check if the motor filter or the HEPA filter is dirty. If this is the case, replace the filter concerned or both.
  • Check if the floor brush, the telescopic tube, or the hose is clogged. If this is the case, dismount the clogged part/parts and remove the clogging.

Safety instructions

  1. Read the instruction manual carefully before use, and save it for future use.
  2. Plug the appliance to a household outlet of 230V only, and use the appliance only for the intended use.
  3. Always unplug the appliance from the mains supply when not in use.
  4. The appliance must never be immersed into water or other liquids.
  5. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  6. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Children are not always able to understand potential risks. Teach children a responsible handling of electrical appliances.
  7. The appliance should only be used under supervision.
  8. Under no circumstances must the vacuum cleaner be used for absorption of water or other liquids, as this will damage the vacuum cleaner. Such damage is not covered by the warranty.
  9. The vacuum cleaner must not be used for collecting inflammable, explosive or corrosive materials, just as it must not be used for cleaning fireplaces which may contain warm or glowing ashes.

  13. Use only original OBH Nordica accessories and hoses.
  14. Always examine appliance, cord and plug for damage before use. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, or his service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
  15. For additional protection the installation of a residual current device (RCD) with a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30 mA is recommended. Ask your installer for advice.
  16. The appliance is for domestic use only.
  17. If the appliance is used for other purposes than intended, or is it not handled in accordance with the instruction manual, the full responsibility for any consequences will rest with the user. Any damages to the product or other things are not covered by the warranty.
