Frequently Asked Questions - 93198 No-Flame

How do I install the No-Flame 93198 smoke detector?
Mount the detector on the ceiling or high on a wall, at least 10 cm from corners. Use the included screws and anchors. Insert the 9V battery, then press the test button to confirm operation.
How do I test the smoke detector?
Press and hold the test button until the alarm sounds (typically 3 seconds). The alarm should be loud and clear. If not, replace the battery or check for dust.
Why is my smoke detector chirping?
A chirp every 30-60 seconds indicates a low battery. Replace the 9V battery immediately. If chirping continues, clean the detector and ensure it is properly mounted.
How do I silence a false alarm?
Press the hush button to temporarily silence the alarm for about 8-10 minutes. The detector will automatically reset. If false alarms persist, relocate the detector away from kitchens or bathrooms.
Where should I place the smoke detector?
Install on every level of your home, especially outside sleeping areas. Avoid bathrooms, kitchens (to prevent false alarms), and near windows or vents. Ceiling mounting is preferred.
How often should I replace the battery?
Replace the 9V battery at least once a year, or when the low battery chirp begins. Use a fresh alkaline battery for best performance.
What is the lifespan of the smoke detector?
The No-Flame 93198 has a lifespan of approximately 10 years from manufacture date. Replace the entire unit after 10 years, even if it appears functional.
Can the smoke detector be interconnected with others?
No, this model is a standalone unit and cannot be interconnected with other detectors or systems.
How do I clean the smoke detector?
Use a soft brush or vacuum cleaner with a crevice tool to remove dust from the vents at least once a month. Do not use water or cleaning agents.
What do I do if the alarm doesn't sound during testing?
First, check the battery installation and polarity. Replace with a new battery. If still no sound, clean the detector. If the issue persists, the unit may be faulty and should be replaced.

The Ground Truth image displays a single, solid horizontal line. According to Rule 2 (UNDERSCORE & LINE RULES), this is a stylistic or background line, not a placeholder underscore. Therefore, the OCR result must ignore it and output nothing or only meaningful text. The provided OCR content is "____", which consists of four underscores. This is an incorrect interpretation of the line as a placeholder, violating the rule that stylistic lines must be ignored. The OCR has hallucinated underscores where none should exist based on the GT's visual context. Hence, the OCR result is inconsistent with the Ground Truth.

Use

Choose a suitable place to install the smoke alarm.

As smoke rises, we recommend installing the smoke alarm on the ceiling in the middle of a room.

Twist the casing (1) off the mounting plate (6). Screw the mounting plate securely to the ceiling.

Insert a 9 V battery into the battery compartment of the smoke detector (4) and three 1.5 V batteries into the battery compartment of the transmitter (5).

Twist the casing securely onto the mounting plate. Press and hold the test button (2). The alarm should go off after a few seconds. Release the button.

When the alarm is functioning correctly, the red LED will flash every 43 seconds.

Connecting several smoke alarms in a network

  1. Select one alarm to serve as the main alarm. Put it aside.
  2. Select an alarm to be connected to the main alarm.
  3. Press the LEARN button (3) on this alarm several times, so that the LED shines red.
  4. If you are connecting several alarms, you should repeat point 3 for all the alarms to be connected to the main alarm.
  5. Press the test button on the main alarm and hold it in until all alarms sound.

Replacing the battery

When the batteries are about to run out, the smoke alarm emits a loud warning signal.

If the 9 V battery in the smoke detector is about to run out, the warning signal sounds every 43 seconds.

If the three 1.5 V batteries in the transmitter are about to run out, the warning signal sounds every 60 seconds.

Replace the battery as soon as possible, and test the smoke alarm by pressing and holding the test button.

Remember to reconnect the smoke alarm to the network.

Cleaning and maintenance

Wipe the smoke alarm down regularly with a well-wrung cloth. Vacuum the casing if it becomes dusty.
