Frequently Asked Questions - EFT 10855 WE ECG

How do I adjust the temperature in my ECG EFT 10855 WE fridge?
Use the thermostat dial inside the refrigerator compartment. Turn it clockwise for colder settings and counterclockwise for warmer. Typically, a medium setting (3-4) is recommended.
Why is my fridge making loud noises?
Normal operation sounds include humming from the compressor and gurgling from refrigerant. If you hear clicking or rattling, ensure the fridge is level and not touching walls or cabinets.
How often should I defrost the freezer?
This model has a manual defrost freezer. Defrost when ice buildup reaches about 5 mm (0.2 inches) to maintain efficiency. Unplug the fridge and let ice melt naturally.
Can I reverse the door opening direction?
Yes, the door is reversible. Follow the instructions in the manual to change the hinge side. You will need a screwdriver and possibly assistance due to the weight of the door.
What should I do if the interior light does not work?
First, check if the bulb needs replacement. Open the lamp cover and replace the LED bulb (if replaceable) with a compatible one. If the issue persists, contact support.
How can I save energy with my fridge?
Place the fridge away from heat sources, ensure adequate ventilation around the back, and keep the door closed as much as possible. Also, set temperature to recommended levels.
Why is water pooling inside my fridge?
Check if the drain hole at the back is blocked. Clean it with a soft pipe cleaner. Also, ensure the door seals are intact and closing properly.
What is the recommended temperature for the refrigerator section?
The ideal temperature is between 3°C and 5°C (37°F to 41°F) to keep food fresh without freezing. Use a thermometer to verify.
How do I clean the condenser coils?
Unplug the fridge and locate the coils at the back or bottom. Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to gently remove dust every 6-12 months.
What should I do if the fridge stops cooling?
Check the power supply, ensure the thermostat is not set to off, and verify that the door closes properly. If still not cooling, contact a qualified technician.

FREEZER INSTALLATION

  • You will also find caps for the handle and door screws, which allow you to change the direction of the door opening.
  • Before plugging it in the outlet make sure that the voltage on the nameplate corresponds with the voltage in your outlet.
    • The outlet must be accessible after installing the appliance.

Unpacking the freezer

  • Before use, remove all tapes and labels (except the rating plate) from the freezer. The remains of tape or glue can be easily removed with a sponge and a small amount of detergent. Then clean with warm water and dry.
  • Do not use any sharp objects, alcohol, flammable or abrasive cleaners, which could damage the surface finish of the appliance.
  • When transporting the appliance, do not tilt it more than 45^ from a vertical position.

Warning: At least two people are necessary to transport the freezer. Do not attempt to move the freezer yourself, as it may cause you a back or other injury.

Cleaning before first use

Remove all packaging material (in particular, remove the foam spacer between the outer condenser and the appliance cabinet itself) and then thoroughly clean the inside of the freezer before first use.

Location and space requirements

  • Leave a space of at least 20 cm between the sides and back of the freezer and the wall to ensure adequate ventilation. A space of at least 30 cm must then be provided above the top plate.
  • If you are installing the freezer at a solid wall, leave enough space on the hinge side so that the door can be opened without any problems.

- Never place the freezer near heat sources or in direct sunlight.

Warning: Prevent contact of the freezer with flammable materials and vapors such as gasoline. Otherwise, there is a risk of explosion, fire, burns or other serious injury.

Connection

  • The appliance should be plugged in a properly grounded 220 \~ 240 V /50 Hz electrical outlet protected by a 10 A fuse or breaker.
    • We recommend that freezer connects to a separate circuit, which does not power any other appliances. Use an outlet that cannot be accidentally disconnected with a switch, etc.
  • Do not use extension cables to connect the freezer.
  • Prior to first use or after relocation, let the freezer stand for 3 hours in vertical position before plugging it into the power supply.

Note: Disconnect the freezer from the power supply before any manipulation. After installation, connect the freezer to power supply and set the thermostat to the desired value.

Horizontal levelling

  • If the freezer is not seated horizontally, the door may not close or seal properly, which may cause problems with cooling performance, moisture entering and icing. For trouble-free operation, it is very important to level the freezer properly.
  • Use the adjusting feet to level the freezer. Rotate the adjusting foot clockwise to raise the respective side, rotate couterclockwise to lower it.

Note: Ask for help from another person, who will tilt the freezer backwards during adjustment to lighten the adjustable foot.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Only with proper use will you be able to take full advantage of your new freezer.

Temperature control

  • Set the temperature in the freezer using the thermostat knob. The thermostat control box is located in the compressor compartment. Turn the thermostat knob to set the temperature inside the freezer. Stages 1 \~ 4 are marked on the scale of the controller. Stage 1 represents the highest temperature (lowest cooling capacity), level 4 the lowest temperature.
  • During normal use, set the knob to a position between steps 1 and 4. The optimal setting is usually in the middle of the range.

Storage of frozen foods

  • When using the freezer for the first time or after defrosting, set the thermostat knob to position "4" for at least 2 hours before loading food.
  • All purchased frozen food should be placed in the freezer as soon as possible to prevent thawing.
  • Follow the instructions printed on the frozen food packaging.
  • Make sure that the foods do not damage the freezer pipes when closing the drawers.

Freezing fresh foods

  • Make sure that the freezing procedure takes place in the strictest possible hygienic conditions, as the freezing of the food itself does not sterilize.
    • We recommend not freezing the food as a whole, but separated into individual portions. Do not place hot or warm foods in the freezer.
  • Before storing food in the freezer, wrap it in plastic bags, aluminium foil or freezer bowls.
  • The maximum freezing capacity in kg in 24 hours at a room temperature of 25^ is given in the "Technical data" section at the end of this manual. Never freeze more than the maximum allowable quantity of food.

Note: Never put drinks or food in jars in the freezer compartment. To ensure optimum performance, leave enough space in the freezer compartment for air to flow around the individual packages.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Cleaning the freezer

  • Unplug the power cord before cleaning the freezer.
  • Use a sponge or cloth dampened in a mild solution of warm water and detergent. Do not use aggressive or abrasive cleaners.
  • Wipe all surfaces thoroughly and dry carefully.
  • Do not use cleaning waxes, concentrated detergents, bleaches or cleaners containing gasoline on plastic and rubber parts.
  • Never use paper towels, window cleaners, cleaning powders or flammable liquids on plastic parts that could scratch or otherwise damage the finish.

GB

Defrosting

  • Unplug the power cord, open the freezer door and move all food to a cool place.
  • Remove ice with a plastic spatula or allow the temperature to rise naturally enough for the ice to melt.
  • Then wipe off the remaining ice and water and plug the power cord back in.

Note: To prevent damage to the walls of the freezer compartment, do not use any sharp objects to defrost and separate frozen food.

Long-term shutdown

If you do not intend to use the freezer for a longer period of time, proceed as follows:

  • Pull the plug out of the outlet to disconnect the freezer from the power supply.
  • Clean and dry the inside of the freezer as described in the "Cleaning the freezer" section.
  • Leave the freezer door open to prevent unpleasant odors in the unused freezer.

TROUBLESHOOTING

You can solve a number of common problems on your own. If the refrigerator is not working properly, check the following points before calling a service technician:

The freezer does not work

  • The power cord is disconnected.
  • The drawers are not fully inserted in place.
  • The seals are dirty.
  • The freezer is not in a horizontal position.

The door cannot be closed completely

Noisy freezer

• Make sure that the freezer is in a horizontal position and does not touch other appliances or kitchen furniture.

The freezing in the freezer is insufficient

  • If the door has been opened for too long or too often, it will take some time for the freezer to reach the set temperature.
  • Check that the airflow is not restricted behind the freezer due to insufficient distance from the wall.

The following is neither a malfunction nor a problem.

  • Bubbling noises caused by refrigerant flowing in the piping.
    • High compressor operating temperature.
