How to access the EdgeSwitch web interface?

Connect your computer to one of the switch ports. The default IP is 192.168.1.20. Open a browser and enter that IP. Use ubnt as username and ubnt as password.

What is the PoE budget of the ES-16-150W?

The total PoE budget is 150W. Each port can deliver up to 30W (PoE+) at 802.3af/at standards.

Can I stack multiple EdgeSwitch units?

No, the ES-16-150W does not support physical stacking. However, you can manage multiple switches via the EdgeSwitch interface or using UNMS.

How to reset the switch to factory defaults?

Press and hold the Reset button (located on the front panel) for about 10 seconds until the system LED turns off and then flashes. Release the button and wait for the switch to reboot.

Does the switch support VLAN configuration?

Yes, it supports IEEE 802.1Q VLANs with up to 256 VLAN groups and 4096 VLAN IDs. You can configure VLANs via the web UI or CLI.

What is the default username and password?

Default username: ubnt; default password: ubnt. It is strongly recommended to change the password after initial setup.

Can I use the switch without a PoE power injector?

Yes, the switch has a built-in power supply and includes PoE+ ports. You can connect PoE devices directly without external injectors, as long as total power does not exceed 150W.

How many PoE devices can I power?

It depends on the power consumption of each device. With the 150W budget, you could power up to 5 devices at 30W each, or more lower-power devices like IP cameras (typically 5-15W).

Is the switch fanless?

No, it has a built-in fan that adjusts speed based on temperature. The fan is quiet under normal load but may become audible under heavy PoE load.

Can I update the firmware?

Yes, firmware updates are available from the Ubiquiti support website. You can upload the firmware via the web interface under System > Maintenance or via CLI using the fwupdate command.

Installation Requirements

• Phillips screwdriver (for rack or wall mounting)
- Standard-sized, 19" wide rack with a minimum of 1U height available (for rack mounting)
- For indoor applications, use Category 5 (or above) UTP cabling approved for indoor use.
- For outdoor applications, shielded Category 5 (or above) cabling should be used for all wired Ethernet connections and should be grounded through the AC ground of the power supply.

Note: Although the cabling can be located outdoors, the EdgeSwitch itself should be housed inside a protective enclosure.

Accessing the Configuration Interface

By default, the EdgeSwitch will try to get its IP address automatically using DHCP. If that fails, then it will use the default fallback IP address, 192.168.1.2. Proceed to the appropriate section, DHCP or "Fallback IP Address":

DHCP

Use one of the following methods:

• Set up the DHCP server to provide a specific IP address to the EdgeSwitch based on its MAC address (on the label).
• Let the EdgeSwitch obtain an IP address and then check the DHCP server to see which IP address was assigned.

To log in, follow these steps:

1. Launch your web browser. Type the appropriate IP address in the address field. Press enter (PC) or return (Mac).
2. Enter ubnt in the Username and Password fields. Click Sign In.

Fallback IP Address

1. Ensure that your computer (or other host machine) is connected to the EdgeSwitch.
2. Configure the Ethernet adapter on your host system with a static IP address on the 192.168.1.x subnet.
3. Launch your web browser. Type the appropriate IP address in the address field (192.168.1.2 is the default fallback IP address). Press enter (PC) or return (Mac).

Note: If you change the IP settings, then the session will be cut off, and you will need to reconnect to the EdgeSwitch using the new IP address.
