What hard drives are compatible with the IB-174SSK-U?

The IB-174SSK-U supports 3.5-inch SATA hard drives (SATA I/II/III) with capacities up to 8 TB. Both HDD and SSD are compatible.

Can I use the media player without a hard drive?

No, the device requires an internal hard drive to store and play media. It does not have internal flash memory.

What video formats are supported?

It supports MP4, AVI, MKV, MOV, WMV, FLV, and MPEG. Subtitles (SRT, SUB) are also supported.

How do I connect the device to my TV?

Use the included HDMI cable to connect to your TV. Alternatively, you can use the AV out (composite) for older TVs.

Does it support Wi-Fi?

The device has an Ethernet port for wired connection. Wi-Fi can be added via a compatible USB Wi-Fi dongle (not included).

How do I install a hard drive?

Remove the top cover, insert the 3.5-inch SATA hard drive into the internal bay, and secure it with screws. Then replace the cover.

What file systems are supported?

NTFS, FAT32, exFAT, EXT2, EXT3, and EXT4. For large files (over 4 GB), use NTFS or exFAT.

Can I use the device as an external USB hard drive?

Yes, when connected to a computer via USB 3.0, it functions as an external hard drive enclosure (USB Mass Storage).

The remote control is not working. What should I do?

First, check the batteries. Then ensure there is no obstruction between the remote and the device's IR receiver. If still not working, try resetting the device or contact support.

How do I update the firmware?

Download the latest firmware from the Icy Box website, copy it to a USB flash drive, insert into the device, and follow the on-screen update instructions.

Hardware installation

1. Turn off the PC and any other connected peripheral devices.
2. Unplug the power cable from the back of the PC and remove the cover of your PC.
3. Remove the panel from the available 5.25" bay.

4. Insert the HDD enclosure into the bay and fix it with 2 screws on each side.

5. Connect the mobile rack to the SATA port on the motherboard with the included SATA data cables.

6. Then connect 15 Pin SATA Power port of motherboard to SATA power port at the back of the mobile rack.

7. Finally connect 19 Pin USB 3.0 connector to USB 3.0 port of motherboard. (If there is no USB 3.0 port on the motherboard, it will need to add a PCI Express 19 Pin USB 3.0 card on the motherboard)

8. Replace the PC cover and reconnect the power cable for the PC.

9. Turn on power switch of the mobile rack.

HDD Installation

1. If the door is locked, use the key to unlock. Squeeze the door to release the door handle, then pull the door handle open.
2. Insert the HDD into the HDD enclosure gently and close the door. Lock the door if needed.
