Frequently Asked Questions - NT-S25G Sabrent

How do I install drivers on Windows?
Connect the adapter to a USB port. If AutoPlay is enabled, click the prompt to install drivers. Otherwise, open File Explorer, locate the virtual CD drive (e.g., G:\ RTL_UL), double-click it, and confirm installation. The virtual drive disappears after successful setup.
Does this adapter work on macOS?
Yes, it supports Mac OS 10.4 or higher. Drivers are typically built-in; if not, download them from Sabrent's website. Connect the adapter and it should be recognized automatically.
What do the LED colors mean?
Green LED: Solid when connected at 10/100/1000 Mbps, blinks during activity. Orange LED: Solid when connected at 2.5 Gbps, blinks during activity at that speed.
Can I use this adapter with USB 2.0 ports?
Yes, it is backward compatible with USB 2.0, but performance will be limited to USB 2.0 speeds (approx. 480 Mbps). For full 2.5 Gbps, use a USB 3.0 port or higher.
What is the maximum Ethernet cable length?
Up to 100 meters (328 feet) using at least CAT5e cable. Longer distances may degrade performance.
Does it support 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps speeds?
Yes, it is fully backward compatible with 10/100/1000 Mbps networks. The adapter auto-negotiates the highest speed.
Is an external power adapter required?
No, the adapter is bus-powered directly from the USB port. No external power source needed.
Can I use this with a Nintendo Switch or other gaming consoles?
The adapter is designed for computers. Consoles may support USB Ethernet adapters, but compatibility varies. Check your console's documentation.
Why is my adapter not recognized?
Try a different USB port, ensure drivers are installed, and check Device Manager (Windows) or System Information (Mac) for conflicts. Restart your computer. If issues persist, update drivers from Sabrent's website.
How can I verify the connection speed?
On Windows, open Network and Sharing Center, click the connection, and view 'Speed'. On Mac, go to System Preferences > Network, select the adapter, and check status. Or use online speed tests.
