Frequently Asked Questions - SKG 315 NF IX-M SCHNEIDER

How do I set the temperature in the refrigerator?
Unlock the display by pressing and holding the MODE/LOCK 3'S button for 3 seconds. Then press the FRIDGE button repeatedly to cycle through temperatures from +8°C to +2°C. The selected temperature flashes and activates after 5 seconds of inactivity.
What is the Eco mode and how do I activate it?
Eco mode automatically sets the refrigerator to +4°C and the freezer to -18°C for optimal energy efficiency. To activate, unlock the display, press MODE/LOCK 3'S repeatedly until the Eco indicator flashes, then wait 5 seconds. The mode engages and disables manual temperature adjustment.
How do I use the Freshness Box?
The Freshness Box has a slider to select CHILLER or CRISPER mode. Chiller mode (lower temperature) is for short-term storage of meat and fish; Crisper mode (higher temperature) is for fruits and vegetables. Adjust the slider accordingly.
What should I do if the door alarm sounds?
The door alarm sounds if the fridge door is left open for more than 90 seconds. Simply close the door properly to stop the alarm. Avoid prolonged door openings to save energy.
How do I reverse the door hinge?
Door reversal is possible but requires at least two people. Refer to the manual section 3.4. You will need to remove doors, swap hinges, and reinstall components. Important: Disconnect the appliance from the power supply before starting.
How do I clean the refrigerator?
Unplug the appliance. Use warm water and a mild, non-abrasive detergent for cleaning. Avoid harsh chemicals, organic solvents, or steam cleaners. Clean the condenser twice a year with a vacuum cleaner. Wipe all surfaces dry before reconnecting.
Why is ice forming in the freezer?
The freezer is No Frost, so ice formation should not occur. If ice appears, check that the door is closing properly, the seal is clean and intact, and food is not blocking air vents. If ice persists, run a manual defrost cycle as described in the manual.
What is the Fast Freezing mode?
Fast Freezing mode forces the compressor to run continuously, setting the freezer to -25°C. It automatically switches off after 50 hours. Activate it 24 hours before freezing large quantities of fresh food to preserve nutrients.
What should I do during a power failure?
If a power failure occurs, the appliance retains current settings. To extend cold storage, avoid opening the doors and do not add fresh food. Max storage time during malfunction is 20 hours. For a foreseeable outage, activate Fast Freezing mode and lower fridge temperature beforehand.
How do I replace the LED light?
The LED light must be replaced by a qualified professional. Do not attempt to replace it yourself. If the light is damaged, contact the aftersales service or an authorized technician.

Food must not get in touch with the surfaces inside the appliance directly. It has to be wrapped separately in aluminium foil or in cellophane foil or in airtight plastic boxes.

STORING FOOD IN THE REFRIGERATOR COMPARTMENT

The fridge helps to extend the storage times of fresh perishable foods.

PROPER STORAGE OF FRESH FOOD ENSURES BEST RESULTS

➢ Store food that is very fresh and of good quality only.
➢ Ensure that food is well wrapped or covered before it is stored. This will help to maintain the freshness of food and prevent it from dehydrating, deteriorating in colour or losing taste It will also prevent odour transfer.
- Vegetables and fruit need not be wrapped if they are stored in the crisper of the fridge compartment.
Make sure that strong smelling food is wrapped or covered in storage and kept away from foods such as butter, milk and cream as they can be spoiled by strong odours.
➢ Cool hot food down before placing it in the fridge compartment.

DAIRY FOODS AND EGGS

Most pre-packed dairy foods have a recommended „use by / best before / best by / date stamped on them. Store them in the fridge compartment and use within the recommended time.
- Butter can be spoiled by strong smelling foods so it is best stored in a sealed container.
➢ Eggs should be stored in the fridge compartment.

RED MEAT

➢ Place fresh red meat on a plate and cover it with waxed paper, plastic wrap or foil.

Store cooked and raw meat on separate plates. This will prevent any juice lost from the raw meat from contaminating the cooked product.

POULTRY

➢ Fresh whole birds should be rinsed inside and outside with cold running water, dried and placed on a plate covered with plastic wrap or foil.
➢ Poultry pieces should also be stored this way.
Whole poultry must only be filled immediately before cooking to avoid food poisoning.

FISH AND SEAFOOD

Whole fish and fillets should be used on the day of purchase. Until required, they should be stored in the fridge on a plate which is covered with plastic wrap, waxed paper or foil loosely.
If storing overnight or longer, take particular care to select very fresh fish.
Whole fish should be rinsed in cold water to remove loose scales and dirt and then patted dry with paper towels. Place whole fish or fillets in a sealed plastic bag.
Keep shellfish chilled at all times. Use within 1 – 2 days.

PRECOOKED FOOD AND LEFTOVERS

These should be stored in suitable covered containers so that the food will not dry out.
▶ Keep for 1-2 days only.
➢ Reheat leftovers once only and until steaming hot.

CRISPER

The crisper is the optimum storage location for fresh fruit and vegetables.
➢ Take care not to store the following food at temperatures of less than 7 °C for long periods: citrus fruit, melons, pineapple, papaya, passion fruit, cucumber, peppers, tomatoes.
➢ Undesirable changes will occur at low temperatures such as softening of the flesh, browning and/or accelerated decaying.
