Frequently Asked Questions - FM Transmitter TOMTOM

How do I pair the TomTom FM Transmitter with my phone?
This device does not have Bluetooth. To use it, connect your phone via the included 3.5mm auxiliary cable to the transmitter, then tune your car radio to an unused FM frequency and set the transmitter to the same frequency.
What should I do if I hear static or interference?
Interference usually means the FM frequency is already in use. Try changing the transmitter to a different frequency that is clear on your radio. Also, ensure the cable is fully inserted and the car's engine is running for stable power.
Can I charge my phone through the USB port?
Yes, the transmitter has a USB charging port that outputs 5V/1A. You can charge your phone or other devices while playing audio.
How do I change the frequency on the transmitter?
Press the up/down buttons on the device to cycle through preset frequencies. The LED display will show the current frequency. You can manually set it by holding a button (consult manual for exact steps).
Why is there no sound coming from my speakers?
Check that the volume on both your phone and the transmitter is turned up. Also verify the car radio is set to the same FM frequency as the transmitter. Ensure the auxiliary cable is fully plugged in.
Can I use this transmitter with a non-TomTom device?
Yes, the transmitter works with any device that has a 3.5mm headphone jack, such as smartphones, tablets, and MP3 players, regardless of brand.
Does this product support hands-free calling?
No, the TomTom FM Transmitter does not have a built-in microphone, so it cannot be used for hands-free calls. It is designed only for music and audio playback.
Is it safe to leave the transmitter plugged in when the car is off?
It is generally safe, but some cars may draw power from the cigarette lighter even when off. To avoid draining the battery, unplug the transmitter when not in use.
What is the range of the FM signal?
The FM signal is designed for short-range use inside the car, typically up to 10 meters line-of-sight. The transmitter should be within a few feet of the car radio antenna for best quality.
How do I clean and maintain the transmitter?
Disconnect the device before cleaning. Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquids or abrasive materials. Keep the connectors free of dust and moisture.
