Frequently Asked Questions - EY-3D-EMT2H MITSUBISHI

Which projectors are compatible with the EY-3D-EMT2H 3D emitter?
The EY-3D-EMT2H is compatible with Mitsubishi projectors that support 3D images. As of June 2012, the HC7900DW is explicitly listed. Compatible models may change, so check the projector's manual for details.
How far can the 3D glasses be from the emitter?
The infrared signal travels approximately 10 meters in a straight line from the front of the emitter. The range may decrease if the signal reflects off a screen or if there are obstructions.
How do I install the 3D emitter?
Unplug the projector, place the non-slip sheet on the bottom of the emitter, connect the mini DIN 5-pin cable from the emitter to the projector's 3D SYNC terminal, then plug in and power on the projector. Adjust the angle using the knob.
What do the indicators on the emitter mean?
The green LED on the emitter lights up when it is receiving power and ready to communicate with the 3D glasses. If it does not light, check the connection to the projector.
Can I use the 3D emitter with other brands of projectors?
No, the EY-3D-EMT2H is designed exclusively for Mitsubishi projectors that support 3D. Using it with other brands may not work and could cause damage.
What should I do if the 3D glasses are not receiving the signal?
First, ensure the green LED on the emitter is on. Check that there are no obstructions between the emitter and glasses. Try adjusting the emitter's angle. Also, verify that no other IR devices (like remote controls) are interfering. You can use a digital camera to see if the IR LEDs are glowing.
Is the 3D emitter safe to use?
Yes, when used according to the manual. Do not operate if there is smoke, unusual noise, or odor. Keep away from children (small parts like screws). Do not drop or modify the device.
How do I clean the 3D emitter?
Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the emitter. Do not use water, solvents, or abrasive cleaners. Ensure the device is turned off and disconnected from the projector before cleaning.
What is included in the box?
The box includes the EY-3D-EMT2H 3D emitter, two M3 screws, a non-slip sheet, and a user manual. The mini DIN 5-pin cable is supplied with the projector, not with the emitter.
How do I dispose of the 3D emitter properly?
In the European Union, follow local regulations for electronic waste. Do not dispose of it with household waste. In other countries, contact local authorities or your dealer for disposal instructions.

For details about the 3D system, see the descriptions of the 3D in the User Manual supplied with the projector.

WARNING:

Do not store screws in places where small children can reach.

There is a danger small children could swallow such parts by mistake. If a child accidentally swallows such parts, seek immediate medical attention.

Contact your dealer if there is something wrong with your 3D emitter.

Do not operate if smoke, strange noise or odor comes out of your projector. It might cause fire or electric shock. In this case, contact your dealer immediately.

Do not keep using the damaged 3D emitter.

It can lead to fire or electric shock.

Do not drop or modify your 3D emitter.

It can lead to breakdown or other failure.

CAUTION:

Not for use in a computer room as defined in the Standard for the Protection of Electronic Computer/Data Processing Equipment, ANSI/NFPA 75.

Using precautions

This 3D emitter is used only for Mitsubishi projectors supporting 3D images.

Use this 3D emitter only for viewing 3D images on the supported Mitsubishi projectors.

The 3D glasses work by receiving an infra-red light from the 3D emitter. Other infra-red communication devices, lighting fixtures, or heating appliances placed near the 3D emitter may affect the operation of the 3D glasses.

View 3D images within the signal reception range.

The signal of the 3D emitter may be affected by that of the infra-red remote control. In such a case, change the orientation of the 3D emitter.

A remote control may operate improperly while you watch the 3D images, however, it is not a malfunction.

To 3D emitter terminal To 3D SYNC terminal

Mini DIN 5-pin cable

  1. Plug the power cord of the projector into the wall outlet and turn on the power.

- The indicator on the 3D emitter will light green and the 3D emitter will be ready to communicate with the 3D glasses.

  1. Adjust the position and angle of the 3D emitter so that the 3D glasses can receive the infra-red signal.

  2. The traveling distance of the infra-red signal from the 3D emitter is about 10 ~m in straight line from the front of the infra-red transmission part.

  3. You can adjust the angle of the infra-red transmission part as shown below. Loosen the knob to adjust the angle and after finishing the adjustment, tighten the knob.

Infra-red transmission part Knob Screw holes

- Secure the 3D emitter using the supplied screws (M3) as necessary.

Important:

  • Do not put any object which obstructs the communication between the 3D emitter and the 3D glasses.
  • Do not place the 3D emitter near the remote control sensor of other devices.
  • The transmission distance is decreased when the infra-red signal from the 3D emitter is transmitted to the 3D glasses by reflecting on the screen. In addition, the transmission distance in such case varies depending on the characteristics of the screen.

Before asking for repair of the 3D emitter, check the following.

  • Check that the LED (green) on the 3D emitter is illuminated.
  • See the front of the 3D emitter through a digital camera or a cell phone camera and check that the LEDs for infra-red transmission are illuminated.
    • See the User Manual supplied with the projector.
