Frequently Asked Questions - CR-4000-B Posiflex

How do I connect the cash drawer to my POS printer?
For printer drive models (CR-4000/4020/4100/4210/6210), use the included signal cable with an 8-pin telephone plug on the drawer end and a 6-pin plug on the printer end. If your printer uses a different connector, you can cut the 6-pin end and wire it according to the printer's pinout. See the manual for wire colors: Red (drawer open sense), Blue (return), Green (+24V), Yellow (kick pulse).
How do I set the security code on the cash drawer?
For non-dedicated RS232 (CR-4002/4102/4212) and parallel (CR-4003/4103/4213) models, locate DIP switch S1 on the rear panel. Each switch bit adds a value: BIT1=1, BIT2=2, BIT3=4, BIT4=8, BIT5=16, BIT6=32, BIT7=64, BIT8=128. The security code is the sum of bits set to OFF. Factory default is 07H (bits 1-3 OFF, bits 4-8 ON).
What is the default security code?
The factory default security code is 07H (hexadecimal 7). This corresponds to DIP switch S1 with bits 1, 2, 3 set to OFF and bits 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 set to ON.
How do I change the keylock positions?
The keylock has three positions: Lock (physically locks the drawer), Open (manually open with key), and Standby (auto open by POS signal). Rotate the key to the desired position. In Standby, the drawer opens automatically when the POS system sends a kick-out pulse.
How do I install the USB interface model?
For CR-4005-II/4105-II/4215-II/6215, set the drawer number via DIP switch S1 (default drawer 7). Connect the USB cable from the drawer to the PC's USB port. Connect the power adapter to the 12VAC input. Install the USB utility driver from the Posiflex CD or website.
What are the dimensions and weight of the CR-4000-B?
The dimensions are 428 mm width, 460 mm depth, and 100 mm height. The weight is 7.0 kg.
How do I install the serial model (CR-4001/4101/4211)?
Connect the drawer's serial I/P port to the computer COM port using the provided cable. Connect the power adapter to the Power Input jack. Set DIP switch S2: position 3 OFF, position 4 ON for dedicated RS232. No other serial devices should be on the O/P port.
What is the maximum current consumption?
The solenoid drive draws a maximum of 0.75A at 12VDC or 1.5A at 24VDC. The pulse width is 100-250 ms with a max duty cycle of 10%.
How do I reset the security code if I forget it?
There is no reset button. You must manually set DIP switch S1 to a known code. If the code is lost, you can try sequential testing from 1 to 255 using a terminal program. Alternatively, contact Posiflex support for assistance.
What does the drawer open sense feature do?
On serial models (CR-4001/4101/4211, CR-4002/4102/4212), the drawer open sense signal shorts pin 9 to pin 5 of the DB9 connector when the drawer is open. This allows the POS system to detect the drawer status. For USB models (CR-4005-II/6215), status is reported through the USB driver.
