For your safety
To prevent severe injury and loss of life/property, read this section carefully before using the product to ensure proper and safe operation of your product.

WARNING
Power connection
- Use only the power source marked on the product.
- Do not overload power outlets and extension cords. This can result in the risk of fire or electric shock.
- Completely insert the AC adaptor/ power plug into the power outlet. Failure to do so may cause electric shock and/or excessive heat resulting in a fire.
- Regularly remove any dust, etc. from the AC adaptor/power plug by pulling it from the power outlet, then wiping with a dry cloth. Accumulated dust may cause an insulation defect from moisture, etc. resulting in a fire.
- Unplug the product from power outlets if it emits smoke, an abnormal smell, or makes an unusual noise. These conditions can cause fire or electric shock. Confirm that smoke has stopped emitting and contact an authorized service centre.
- Unplug from power outlets and never touch the inside of the product if its casing has been broken open.
- Never touch the plug with wet hands. Danger of electric shock exists.
Installation
- To prevent the risk of fire or electrical shock, do not expose the product to rain or any type of moisture.
- Do not place or use this product near automatically controlled devices such as automatic doors and fire alarms. Radio waves emitted from this product may cause such devices to malfunction resulting in an accident.
- Do not allow the AC adaptor or telephone line cord to be excessively pulled, bent or placed under heavy objects.
Operating safeguards
- Unplug the product from power outlets before cleaning. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
- Do not disassemble the product.
- Do not spill liquids (detergents, cleansers, etc.) onto the telephone line cord plug, or allow it to become wet at all. This may cause a fire. If the telephone line cord plug becomes wet, immediately pull it from the telephone wall jack, and do not use.
Medical
- Consult the manufacturer of any personal medical devices, such as pacemakers or hearing aids, to determine if they are adequately shielded from external RF (radio

- Do not use the product in health care facilities if any regulations posted in the area instruct you not to do so. Hospitals or health care facilities may be using equipment that could be sensitive to external RF energy.

CAUTION
Installation and location
- Never install telephone wiring during an electrical storm.
- Never install telephone line jacks in wet locations unless the jack is specifically designed for wet locations.
- Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the telephone line has been disconnected at the network interface.
- Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.
- The AC adaptor is used as the main disconnect device. Ensure that the AC outlet is installed near the product and is easily accessible.
- This product is unable to make calls when:
- the handset batteries need recharging or have failed.
- there is a power failure.
Battery
- We recommend using the batteries noted on page 4. USE ONLY rechargeable Ni-MH batteries AAA (R03) size.
- Do not mix old and new batteries.
- Do not open or damage the batteries. Released electrolyte from the batteries is corrosive and may cause burns or injury to the eyes or skin. The electrolyte is toxic and may be harmful if swallowed.
- Exercise care when handling the batteries. Do not allow conductive materials such as rings, bracelets, or keys to touch the batteries, otherwise a short circuit may cause the batteries and/or the conductive material to overheat and cause burns.
- Charge the batteries provided with or identified for use with this product only, in accordance with the instructions and limitations specified in this manual.
- Only use a compatible base unit (or charger) to charge the batteries. Do not tamper with the base unit (or charger). Failure to follow these instructions may cause the batteries to swell or explode.

For best performance
Base unit location/avoiding noise
The base unit and other compatible Panasonic units use radio waves to communicate with each other.
- For maximum coverage and noise-free communications, place your base unit: - at a convenient, high, and central location with no obstructions between the handset and base unit in an indoor environment.
– away from electronic appliances such as TVs, radios, personal computers, wireless devices, or other phones.
– facing away from radio frequency transmitters, such as external antennas of mobile phone cell stations. (Avoid putting the base unit on a bay window or near a window.)
- Coverage and voice quality depends on the local environmental conditions.
- If the reception for a base unit location is not satisfactory, move the base unit to another location for better reception.
Environment
- Keep the product away from electrical noise generating devices, such as fluorescent lamps and motors.
- The product should be kept free from excessive smoke, dust, high temperature, and vibration.
- The product should not be exposed to direct sunlight.
- Do not place heavy objects on top of the product.
- When you leave the product unused for a long period of time, unplug the product from the power outlet.
- The product should be kept away from heat sources such as heating devices, cooking appliances, etc. It should not be placed in rooms where the temperature is less
than 0 °C or greater than 40 °C. Damp basements should also be avoided.
- The maximum calling distance may be shortened when the product is used in the following places: Near obstacles such as hills, tunnels, underground, near metal objects such as wire fences, etc.
- Operating the product near electrical appliances may cause interference. Move away from the electrical appliances.
Routine care
- Wipe the outer surface of the product with a soft moist cloth.
- Do not use benzine, thinner, or any abrasive powder.

- CAUTION: Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions.

Connect the AC adaptor plug to the unit until you hear a click. Connect the AC adaptor to the power outlet.
Connect the telephone line cord to the unit, then to the telephone line jack until you hear a click.
A DSL/ADSL filter (not supplied) is required if you have a DSL/ADSL service.
Note:
- Use only the supplied AC adaptor S003AIB0600040.
- Use only the supplied telephone line cord.

Battery charging
Charge for at least 7 hours.
When the handset needs charging, the display shows "LOW BATTERY" and there is a warning beep every 2 minutes during a call, recharge the handset before using it again. When charging, 📄icon will scroll on the display.

Note for connections
- The AC adaptor must remain connected at all times. (It is normal for the adaptor to feel warm during use.)
- The AC adaptor should be connected to a vertically oriented or floor-mounted AC outlet. Do not connect the AC adaptor to a horizontally oriented AC outlet that faces the floor, such as an AC outlet installed on a ceiling or under a table, as the weight of the adaptor may cause it to become disconnected.
Power failure
The unit cannot be used to make or receive calls during a power failure. We recommend connecting a corded-type telephone that does not use an AC adaptor to your telephone line.
Note for battery installation
- Use the supplied rechargeable batteries. For replacement, we recommend using the Panasonic rechargeable batteries noted on page 4 and 9.
Note for battery charging
- It is normal for the handset to feel warm during charging.
- Clean the charge contacts of the handset, base unit and charger with a soft and dry cloth once a month. Before cleaning the unit, disconnect from power outlets and any telephone line cords. Clean more often if the unit is exposed to grease, dust, or high humidity.

Navigating the menus
The phone has an easy to use menu system. Each menu has a list of options, which can be seen on the menu map on page 18.
When the handset is switched on and in standby:
1 【▲】☐ to open the main menu.
2 [▲]: -available options.
3 [OK] to select an option.
4 To return to the previous menu level, press [←].
5 To exit the menu and return to standby, press [→] repeatedly.
Note:
If no buttons are pressed for 30 seconds, the handset returns to standby automatically.
Date and time
1 [▲]目, → [▼]“CLOCK/ALARM”, press[OK].
2 "DATE & TIME".
3 [OK] to select.
4 Enter the date using the keypad (e.g. 12--08--18 for 12th of August 2018) and press [OK] to confirm.
5 Enter the time using the keypad (e.g. 14--30 for 2:30pm) and press [OK] to save.

Making calls
1 Lift the handset and then dial the phone number.
- To correct a digit, press [←].
2 Press [ˈdʒ] to make a call.
- To make the call using the speakerphone, press [ˈdɪkər] again.
3 When you finish talking, press [💡] or place the handset on the base unit or charger.
Note:
While talking, you can switch between the receiver and the speakerphone by pressing [ ]
When "BUSY" is displayed, another handset is in use. Wait and try again later.
Adjusting the receiver or speaker volume
[+] or [−] to select the desired volume while talking.
Amplify the receiver volume
【】during a call. "AMPLIFY ON".
Note:
While talking using speakerphone, this feature is not available.
Pause (for PBX/long distance service users)
A pause is sometimes required when making calls using a PBX or long distance service. When storing a calling card access number and/or PIN in the phonebook, a pause is also needed.
Example: If you need to dial the line access number "0" when making outside calls with a PBX:
1 Press and hold [0_]. "P" (Pause) will be displayed.
2 Dial the phone number. →
Note:
A 3 second pause is inserted each time you press and hold [0_] (Pause) on the handset.
Answering calls
When an external call is received, the phone rings and icon flashes on the display.
1 Lift the handset and press [ˈlɪdʒət] when the unit rings.
2 When you finish talking, press [💡] or place the handset on the base unit or charger.
Auto answer: You can answer calls simply by lifting the handset (page 29).
Adjusting the handset ringer volume
[+] or [−] to select the desired volume while ringing.

Mute

Recall
[R] allows you to use the special features of your host PBX such as transferring an extension call, or accessing optional telephone services.
Note:
To change the recall time, see page 30.
For call waiting or Call Waiting Caller ID service users
To use call waiting or Call Waiting Caller ID, you must first subscribe with your service provider/telephone company.
This feature allows you to receive calls while you are already talking on the phone. If you receive a call while on the phone, you will hear a call waiting tone.
If you subscribe to both Caller ID and Call Waiting with Caller ID services, the 2nd caller's information is displayed on the handset that is in use after you hear the call waiting tone.
Press and hold(R) to answer the 2nd call.
Intercom, transferring calls and conference calls

Making an internal call
If 2 or more handsets are registered to the base, internal calls can be made between two handsets. Icon flashes and the display shows the handset number you are calling.
1 Press and hold [1] (Intercom) and the other handset rings automatically.
Receiving an internal call
When an internal call is received, icon flashes and the handset number that is calling is displayed.

Transferring calls
Outside calls can be transferred or a conference call with an outside party can be made between 2 handsets.
During an outside call:
1 Press and hold [①] (Intercom) and the other handset rings automatically.
2 When the other handset answers, press ⏻ to complete the transfer.
Making/Answering Calls
Note:
If there is no answer from the other handset, press and hold [1] (Intercom) to return to the external caller. The external call resumes automatically after 60 seconds if there is no answer.
3-way conference call
To hold a 3-way conference call between 2 internal callers and 1 external caller.
During a call with an outside caller:
1 Press and hold [1] (Intercom) and the other handset rings automatically.
2 Once the second handset answers, press [OK] to join all 3 callers.
3 Press [⏻] to end the call.
Redial
Making a call using the redial list
The last 10 phone numbers dialled are stored in the redial list (each 24 digits max.).

Making/Answering Calls
Lock/unlock the keypad
The keypad can be locked so that it cannot be operated accidentally while carrying it around.
Note:
When the keypad is locked an incoming call can still be answered and the handset will operate as normal. When the call ends, the keypad lock comes on again.

Handset locator
The handset locator can be used to alert a handset user that they are wanted or locate a missing handset. Locator calls cannot be answered by a handset.

Phonebook
Phonebook
The phonebook can store up to 50 names and numbers. Names can be up to 12 characters long and numbers up to 24 digits.
Storing a name and number
When subscribed to Caller ID, to display the name of the caller instead of the number, save the full telephone number including the area code to the phonebook.
Multiple entries can be stored with the same name. However, to prevent unnecessary duplicated entries, the number can be stored only once.

Caller ID and Calls list
IMPORTANT
To use Caller ID, first subscribe to the service from the network provider. A subscription fee may be payable.
If the caller's number is stored in the phonebook, the name assigned to it will be displayed.
To ensure that the caller's name is displayed, make sure the full telephone number, including the area code is stored in the phonebook.
If the number is unavailable, "UNKNOWN" will be displayed.
Caller display
If subscribed to Caller ID, the caller's number will be displayed (provided it is not withheld) prior to answering the call. The display can show the 12 digits or characters of the names and phone numbers.
If the caller's name and number are stored in the phonebook and a number match is found, the caller's name will be displayed instead.
Calls list
The Calls list stores details of the last 20 received calls, including the phone number and date and time of the call.
The caller's details are stored in the Calls list whether or not the call has been answered. When the list is full, and a new call is received, the oldest entry will be deleted automatically.

Once the alarm is set to on, the 🎨 icon is displayed. When the alarm goes on the 🔊 icon flashes. Press any dial key to stop the sound. After 10 minutes, the alarm sounds again. Press [\~/图标] or [💡] to stop the alarm completely.

Handset ringer volume
The handset ring volume can be set to different volume level. Choose from 5 volume levels or Off.

Eco mode
By operating the phone in Eco mode, the level of power emissions can be reduced. When the Eco mode is set to ON, the base transmission power will be reduced. This feature is set to OFF by default.

When Zero emit is activated and the unit has been idle for about 1 minute, the transmitted power between the handset and the base will stop, an incoming call or pressing any key will activate the unit and it will revert back to the normal mode. This feature is set to OFF by default.

Auto prefix
You can set the phone to detect a dialling number and replace it with another number. The number to be detected can be up to 5 digits long. It can be replaced with a number up to 10 digits.

Change base PIN code
Some functions are protected by a 4 digit PIN code which must be entered if the settings are changed. The default PIN is 0000. The PIN can be changed to a preferred number. When entering a PIN, the digits are shown as ****.

Resetting the phone to its default settings will delete all entries in the Calls list. Current handset and base settings will also be reset. Entries stored in the phonebook are retained.

Voicemail
Voicemail is an automatic answering service offered by your service provider/telephone company. After you subscribe to the service, your service provider/ telephone company's voicemail system answers calls for you when you are unavailable to answer the phone or when your line is busy. Messages are recorded by your service provider/telephone company, not your telephone. When you have new messages
oo is displayed on the handset if message service indication is available. Please contact your service provider/telephone company for details of this service.
Important:
If 00 still remains on the display even after you have listened to new messages, turn it off by pressing and holding [5] while viewing all voicemail entries of Caller List.
Troubleshooting
No dial tone
- Use only the telephone line cord supplied.
- Check that the telephone line cord is connected properly.
- Check that the mains power is connected properly.
No display
- Check that the batteries are inserted correctly and fully charged. Use only approved rechargeable batteries supplied.
- Check that the handset is switched on. Press and hold [💡].
- Reset the unit by removing the batteries and disconnecting the mains power. Wait for around 15 seconds before connecting it again. Allow up to one minute for the handset and base to synchronize.
icon flashes
- Handset is out of range. Move closer to the base.
- The handset registration is cancelled. Register the handset to the base, see page 33.
- Check that the mains power is connected properly and switched on.
Keypad does not seem to work
- Check that the keypad lock is not on, see page 22.
icon is not scrolling during charge
- Adjust the handset slightly on the base.
- Clean the charging contacts with a cloth moistened with alcohol.
- Check that the mains power is connected properly and switched on.
Useful Information
- The battery is full. When the handset is fully charged, 📄 icon will appear steadily on the display.
No Caller Display
- Check the subscription with the network operator, see page 25.
- The caller may have withheld their number.
- The record cannot be found in the phonebook. Check that the correct name/number is stored in the phonebook, with the full area code.
I have forgotten my PIN!
- Restore the phone to its default settings, see page 31.
Cannot register a handset to the base
- Check that correct PIN code (default = 0000) has been entered.
- Check that the handset and base are at least one metre away from other electrical equipment to avoid interference when registering.
Handset does not ring
- The handset ringer volume may be set to Off, see page 28.
Noise interference on my phone or on other electrical equipment nearby
- Place the phone at least one metre away from electrical
appliances or any metal obstructions to avoid any risk of interference.

On the base:
1 Press and hold [●●●] for 5 seconds. The base will remain in registration mode for 120 seconds.
On the handset:
2 If "UNREGISTERED" is displayed, press [OK] and then enter the 4 digit PIN code (default = 0000) and press [OK].

Use one handset to de-register another. The handset being used cannot de-register itself.

③ Use rechargeable Ni-MH batteries.
(Alkaline/Manganese/Ni-Cd batteries CANNOT be used.)
