OVERVIEW
The Modular Managed L2 Switch is a versatile data center workhorse that features three slots, each supporting a hot-swappable 8-port copper or fiber Fast Ethernet module. The switch also has two dual-media ports that can support Gigabit Ethernet SFPs or function as a copper port. Models are available with one or two power supply slots (LB610A or LB611A).
Fully manageable
The switch is fully manageable through any standard Web browser over an IP network—even the Internet. It also supports SNMP v1 and v2 for easy integration into any managed network.
Bandwidth aggregation
MAC-based 802.3ad LACP Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) enables you to bundle multiple ports to create a single high-bandwidth pipeline. You can set up two Fast Ethernet groups plus one Gigabit Ethernet group, with a per-group maximum of four ports. The switch can aggregate destination addresses (DA), source addresses (SA), or both. Link failover automatically shifts network traffic onto remaining ports if a port fails.
QoS
802.1p Quality Of Service (QoS), helps to ensure that important network traffic gets through first. QoS enables you to set up to four priority levels so that, for instance, VoIP traffic gets priority over Web browsing. This feature prioritizes data at full wire speed and can operate based on strict priority, weighted round robin, or a mix of both.
Q-in-Q VLAN for performance and security
The VLAN feature in the switch offers the benefits of both security and performance. VLAN is used to isolate traffic between different users and thus provides better security. Limiting the broadcast traffic to within the same VLAN broadcast domain also enhances performance. VLAN support enabling advanced techniques such as "802.1Q-in-1Q" to be deployed.

Why Buy From Black Box? Exceptional Value. Exceptional Tech Support. Period.
Recognize any of these situations?
- You wait more than 30 minutes to get through to a vendor's tech support.
- The so-called "tech" can't help you or gives you the wrong answer.
- You don't have a purchase order number and the tech refuses to help you.
- It's 9 p.m. and you need help, but your vendor's tech support line is closed.
According to a survey by Data Communications magazine, 90% of network managers surveyed say that getting the technical support they need is extremely important when choosing a vendor. But even though network managers pay anywhere from 10 to 20% of their overall purchase price for a basic service and support contract, the technical support and service they receive falls far short of their expectations—and certainly isn't worth what they paid.
At Black Box, we guarantee the best value and the best support. You can even consult our Technical Support Experts before you buy if you need help selecting just the right component for your application. Don't waste time and money—call Black Box today.
