What is Picross?

Picross is a picture crossword puzzle game. You fill in squares on a grid based on hint numbers at the top and left sides to reveal a hidden picture. The numbers indicate how many consecutive squares are filled in each row and column.

How do I save my progress?

Press the HOME button and select Suspend to save your current progress and return to the title screen. You can create one quick-save file. For Micross, progress per puzzle is saved automatically when suspending.

Can I erase my save data?

Yes, go to Settings from the title screen and select Clear Save Data. Please be careful, as erased data cannot be restored.

What happens if I exceed 60 minutes on a puzzle?

You will receive a time-over notice. You can continue playing, but the completed picture will not display in color once finished.

How do I use the Hint Roulette?

Before starting a puzzle, you are asked if you want to use Hint Roulette. If you select Yes, tap the lower screen or press A to stop the roulette. It will display hint words for a row and column.

What are the differences between Picross, Mega Picross, and Micross?

Picross is standard with simple hints. Mega Picross includes Mega Numbers that cross over multiple rows or columns, making it more challenging. Micross features an elaborate picture where you solve sub-puzzles within filled squares.

Does this game support Miiverse?

Yes, you can post messages and screenshots to Miiverse from the game. Parental Controls can restrict viewing or posting.

How do I change the control method?

Restricts users from viewing or posting content on Miiverse. When set to Restrict Posting, text and handwritten messages cannot be posted. When set to Restrict Viewing and Posting, text and handwritten messages cannot be posted or viewed.

What is Picross?

Picross is a "picture crossword" puzzle game in which you complete a picture by filling in only certain squares. You puzzle out which squares to fill in by looking at hint numbers shown on the puzzle's top and left sides.

Control Methods

You can change your control method for solving puzzles in the settings.

Stylus Controls

You can use your stylus to select options, icons, squares, and more.

Right-handed players can press up or down on +/◎ to switch between filling in squares or marking them with an "x." Left-handed players can use Ⓧ and Ⓑ to do the same.

Button Controls

You can use buttons to select options, icons, squares, and more.

Saving Data

Picross and Mega Picross

Pressa then select Suspend to save your current progress and return to the title screen. You can create one set of quick-save data, which you can select later from the title menu.

Micross

Press then select Suspend to save your progress and return to the Micross puzzle-selection screen. Progress for each puzzle within the Micross puzzle will be saved.

Erasing Data

Select Clear Save Data on the settings screen to erase all save data and reset the game.

◆ Please be careful when erasing data. Erased data cannot be restored.

These puzzles have rules for more experienced players involving Mega Numbers, which are numbers that cross over rows or columns.

Complete an elaborate picture by solving puzzles within squares you've filled in.

From this menu, you can change your control method, turn some features on and off, and adjust sound options. You can also erase your save data.
