Frequently Asked Questions - Elementi 16169 Lakeland

How do I adjust the browning level?
Turn the browning control dial clockwise from 1 (lightest) to 6 (darkest). The groove on the dial shows your selection. Start with a lower setting if unsure.
Can I toast frozen bread?
Yes, press the Defrost button after lowering the lever. The button will illuminate. For frozen bagels, also press the Bagel button.
How to use the bagel setting?
Place the cut surfaces of the bagel facing the central element. Lower the lever, then press the Bagel button. It illuminates when selected. Only the inner surfaces will be toasted.
Why won't the lever stay down?
Check the toaster is plugged in and switched on at the mains. The lever will only lock when power is supplied. If it still won't stay, contact Lakeland customer care.
What does the 'R' setting mean?
The R (Reheat) setting is for warming bread that has already been toasted. It uses a lower heat to gently reheat without further browning.
How to clean the toaster?
Unplug and allow to cool completely. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners. Slide out the crumb tray, empty, wipe dry, and replace. Never immerse in water.
Why is there a burning smell?
This is normal on first use as manufacturing residues burn off. If persistent, it may be trapped crumbs. Let cool, tap sides gently, and empty the crumb tray.
Can I toast different types of bread?
Yes, the wide slots accommodate various breads, bagels, crumpets, croissants, and rolls. Always cut bagels and muffins in half evenly.
How to store the cord?
Wind excess cord around the cable tidy on the base of the toaster. Ensure the plug does not hang over the counter edge. Never wrap the cord tightly around the toaster.
What if the toast is too dark?
Select a lower browning setting. Different breads brown at different rates. If your toast is already too dark, press the Cancel button to stop immediately.

The browning control allows you to select how light or dark your product will be. If you are unsure, select a lower setting. A groove on the control shows you what you have selected.

The R on the browning control means Reheat and should be used to warm bread which you have already toasted.

During toasting, you can stop toasting at any time by pressing Cancel button. The button is illuminated whenever the lever is pressed down to toast.

If you are toasting something straight from frozen, press down the lever to begin toasting, then press the Defrost button to give best results. The button illuminates when this programme is selected.
