With the purchase of the Pita King, you have chosen a quality product from BEEM. The Pita and Crêpe Maker has a triple non-stick coating and is ideally suited for making pita bread, crêpes and pancakes or for fat-free grilling of meat.
Read the information contained in this booklet to familiarise yourself quickly with the appliance and to be able to make full use of its functions.
The appliance will serve you for many years to come if you handle and treat it properly.

Unpacking
◆ Remove the appliance, all accessory parts and the instruction manual from the box.
- Remove all packaging materials and protective foils from the appliance and the accessories before using them for the first time.
NOTE
Do not remove the rating plate or any warning signs on the appliance.

Scope of supply and transport inspection

NOTE
Inspect the delivery for completeness and obvious signs of damage. Report an incomplete or damaged delivery to your supplier/dealer immediately.

Disposal of the packaging
The packaging protects the appliance from transport damage. The packaging materials have been selected according to environmental and waste disposal aspects and can therefore be recycled.

The return of the packaging to the material cycle helps conserve raw materials and reduces the production of waste. When no longer required, dispose of the packaging materials in accordance with the local regulations in force.
NOTE
▶ Keep the original packaging, if possible, during the warranty period in order to be able to pack the appliance properly in the event of a warranty claim. Transport damage will void all warranty claims.
Demands on the installation location
For safe and trouble-free operation of the appliance, the installation location has to satisfy the following requirements:
- Place the appliance on a dry, level, sturdy heat resistant surface where it is protected from splashing water.
■ Do not install the appliance in a hot, wet or very humid environment or in the vicinity of inflammable materials.
■ Select the installation location in such a way that children cannot touch the hot surfaces of the appliance.
The socket to be used has to be easily accessible in order to be able to disconnect the appliance from the electric circuit fast in case of an emergency.
Electrical connection
For safe and trouble-free operation of the appliance, the following instructions have to be observed for the electrical connection:

Before connecting the appliance, check the connection data (voltage and frequency) on the rating plate with those of your mains power supply. This data must correspond in order to avoid damage to the appliance. If in any doubt, ask your electrical appliance dealer.
The appliance may be connected to the mains power supply by an unwound extension lead not more than 3 metres long and with a cross-section of 1.5 mm2 . The use of multiway adapters or multiple socket outlets is forbidden due to the associated fire hazard.
■ Ensure that the connecting lead is undamaged and is not laid over hot surfaces or sharp edges.
The connecting lead must not be strained or kinked. ■
■ Lay the connecting lead in such a way that it does not pose a tripping hazard.
■ The electrical safety of the appliance is only assured when it is connected to a properly installed protective earth (PE) conductor system. Connection to a plug socket without PE conductor is forbidden. If in doubt, have the house installation checked by a qualified electrician. The manufacturer assumes no liability for injury or damage caused by a missing or interrupted protective earth conductor.

Operating element
The thermostat permits a stepless setting of the temperature.
Proceed as follows to set the temperature:
- Turn the control knob until the desired temperature level is aligned with the notch on the edge of the upper part.

Prior to first use

Heat up the appliance before using for the first time to remove any residues from the assembly process (greases). Proceed as follows:
Wipe the appliance with a moist cloth. ◆
- Turn the control knob in anti-clockwise direction as far as it will go (OFF).
Connect up the appliance by inserting the heating appliance plug into the jack on the appliance and the mains plug into a plug socket.
Turn the control knob to level 5 and wait until the green indicator light goes out.
Turn the control knob to the 2nd red mark (maximum level).
NOTE
▶ Slight smoke development is completely normal. Ensure sufficient ventilation.
- After 2 minutes, switch off the appliance by turning the control knob in anti-clockwise direction as far as it will go and pull the mains plug out of the plug socket.
Allow the appliance to cool down for around 15 minutes.
Wipe the appliance with a moist cloth. ◆
The appliance is now ready for use.
Operation and function
This chapter contains important information on the operation of the appliance.

Do not use sharp cutlery on the baking plate; use a wooden spatula.
Using the appliance
- Turn the control knob in anti-clockwise direction as far as it will go (OFF).
Connect up the appliance by inserting the heating appliance plug into the jack on the appliance and the mains plug into a plug socket.
The red indicator light signals that the appliance is ready for use.
Turn the control knob to the desired temperature level; see table in chapter Operating elements.
The green indicator light comes on and signals that the appliance is heating up. When the set temperature is reached, the green indicator light goes out automatically.
NOTE
If you have set the 2nd red mark (highest temperature level) it is possible that the green indicator light does not go out because the appliance is heating constantly.
Starting baking. ◆

NOTE
If the temperature drops, the thermostat and hence also the green indicator light switches on again automatically and brings the temperature up to the set level again.
Making pita bread
Turn the control knob to level 5. ◆
Wait until the green indicator light goes out. ◆
◆ Roll out the dough to not more than the diameter of the baking plate.
Place the dough onto the baking plate to bake.
Turn over the bread to see how well done it already is. ◆
As a rule the bread needs to be baked for roughly 1 minute on each side.
Making crêpes
Turn the control knob to level 4. ◆
Wait until the green indicator light goes out. ◆
Pour the crêpe mixture into the middle of the baking plate and spread it uniformly over the plate.
The size of the crêpe depends on the amount of mixture you use.
Turn over the crêpe as quickly as possible.
As a rule the crêpe only needs to be baked for a few seconds on each side.
Grilling of meat and sausages
Different temperatures are preferred for grilling.
Turn the control knob to the desired temperature level; see table in chapter Operating elements.
Wait until the green indicator light goes out. ◆
Place the food to be grilled onto the baking plate. ◆
NOTE
During grilling of meat or sausage, the fat runs into the recess provided around the edge of the baking plate. Remove the fat after grilling using a soft absorbent cloth after the appliance has cooled down.
Switch off appliance
After use, turn the control knob in anti-clockwise direction as far as it will go (OFF) and pull the mains plug out of the plug socket.

For regular care and also for removal of stubborn stains, we recommend the use of INOX METAL POLISH from Beem. This polish returns the original gloss to your appliances. It is available in tubes and is suitable not only for cooking utensils, but also for all other objects of stainless steel, chrome, brass, copper, aluminium, silver and even rigid plastics.

Should you not require the appliance for a prolonged period, remove the connecting lead and clean it as described in chapter Cleaning and care. Store the appliance in a dry, clean and frost-free place.
Disposal

Within the European Community, this product must not be disposed of in the domestic refuse.
Dispose of the appliance in accordance with the EC Directive 2002/96/EC-WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). Should you have any questions, please contact your local authority responsible for waste disposal.

Guarantee, service and repairs
This is a quality product from BEEM and was produced using the latest manufacturing methods.
We guarantee the perfect condition of this quality product. Within the warranty period, we will remedy any faults due to material flaws or manufacturing faults free of charge.
The warranty period for this appliance is two years.
For commercial or equivalent use, e.g. in hotels, guest houses or communal premises, warranty period is 6 months. This does not infringe the warranty disclaimer.
Warranty disclaimer: The warranty does not cover faults caused in particular by improper use, failure to observe the instruction manual and safety precautions, use of force, modifications, unauthorised attempted repairs and attempted repairs by unqualified third parties. Also excluded are faults caused by normal wear.
If we are obliged by law to provide a warranty we will – to the exclusion of the right to cancellation or price reduction – meet this obligation – at our discretion – by repairing or replacing the product free of charge. Should the remedy fail despite several attempts or should the replacement product exhibit faults attributable to us, the customer shall be entitled – at his/her discretion – to reduce the purchase price or to cancel the contract. Claims under warranty do not prolong the warranty period. For exchange or return of the appliance (withdrawal from the purchase contract) or reduction of the purchase price, the first contact is always the dealer from whom you purchased the product. This applies in particular to the return of the appliance or claims for reductions in the purchase price as these have to be settled in the light of the purchase price. Should - contrary to expectations - faults occur, please try to resolve the matter by telephone first. Should this not be successful, please send the carefully packed appliance to your dealer or to the After-sales Service address shown below. Please indicate your complete address, type and model number and the serial number of the appliance. This information can be found on the rating plate of the appliance. Please describe the fault or defect in as much detail as possible. The product or spare part order should be accompanied by a printed and dated receipt of purchase or invoice. Without a printed receipt of purchase or invoice, no services under warranty can be provided, whether for repairs, spare parts or other claims.
