How to turn on the Kalorik EXC FH 2 fan heater?

Turn the rotary switch to the desired position: ventilation only (without heating), low heat or high heat. Then set the thermostat to the desired temperature.

What to do if the device turns off by itself?

This is probably due to the overheat protection. Unplug the device for at least 10 minutes, clear the ventilation grilles, then plug it back in and set it again.

Why does an odor occur on first use?

A slight odor is normal during first use. It disappears after a few minutes. Ensure adequate ventilation of the room.

How to clean the heater?

Always unplug the device before cleaning. Use a soft damp cloth for the exterior and a vacuum or brush for the air outlet grilles. Never immerse it in water.

What safety distance should be observed?

Maintain a minimum distance of 50 cm between the side panels of the device and any obstacle (furniture, wall, curtains). Avoid placing the device under a power outlet.

Can I use the device in a bathroom?

No, the device must not be used near a bathtub, shower, washbasin or swimming pool. It must not be possible to access the controls while in contact with water.

How does the thermostat work?

The manual thermostat allows you to select the desired temperature. When it is reached, the device automatically turns off. If the temperature drops, the thermostat turns it back on to maintain a constant temperature.

What does the frost protection setting mean?

The frost protection setting (marked with a * on the thermostat) keeps the device in standby. It will automatically start if the ambient temperature drops below 0°C, thus protecting the room from frost.

Can the device be left on unattended?

It is not recommended to leave the device unattended. Although it is equipped with overheat protection, for safety reasons do not leave it running in your absence.

How to recycle the device at the end of its life?

In accordance with directive 2002/96/EC, do not dispose of the device with household waste. Take it to an approved collection point or recycling center for recycling or reuse.

Please read these instructions carefully before using the appliance, and always follow the safety and operating instructions.

Important: People (including children) who are not able to use the appliance in a safe way, due to their physical, sensorial or mental capacity or their lack of experience or knowledge, must never use the appliance except if they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or if they previously received instructions concerning the safe use of the appliance. Close supervision is necessary to prevent children from using the appliance as a toy.

☐ Check that your mains voltage corresponds to that stated on the appliance.
□ Never leave the appliance unsupervised when in use.
From time to time check the cord for damages. Never use the appliance if cord or appliance shows any signs of damage but have it checked and repaired by a competent qualified service ^[1] . Should the cord be damaged, it must be replaced by a competent qualified service ^[2] .
☐ Only use the appliance for domestic purposes and in the way indicated in these instructions.
☐ Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid for any reason whatsoever. When cleaning the appliance, refer to the instructions in the paragraph "Cleaning and care" because water penetration through the openings can be very dangerous for your appliance.
□ Never use the appliance near hot surfaces.
Before cleaning and when you do not use the appliance, always unplug the appliance from the power supply. Do not attempt to remove the plug from the wall socket with wet hands.
□ Never use the appliance outside and always place it in a dry environment.
☐ Never use accessories that are not recommended by the producer. They could constitute a danger to the user and risk to damage the appliance.
☐ Never move the appliance by pulling the cord. Make sure the cord cannot get caught in any way. Do not wind the cord around the appliance and do not bend it.
☐ Stand the appliance on a stable surface so that it cannot fall.
☐ Do not place the appliance under a power socket. The power socket must not be in the hot airflow of the appliance in order to avoid overheating.
□ Always position the heater in such a way that inflammable materials (such as curtains) cannot be ignited. Ensure at all times that the unit is placed solidly on its base.
Make sure that the air inlet and outlet openings are not blocked. To avoid any risk of fire, do not cover the heater (e.g. with clothes).
☐ Warning: Do not operate the heater near baths, showers, washbasins, swimming pools or any other water container. It must be impossible to reach the commands of your appliance when you are in contact with water.
☐ Do not allow the power cord to touch any hot part of the appliance.
☐ The temperature of the grids may be very high when the appliance is in use. Avoid contact with the skin.
□ Never use the appliance near inflammable or explosive materials.
☐ Do not insert any objects through the grille or into the interior of the appliance.

^17 Competent qualified service: after-sales department of the producer or importer or any person who is qualified, approved and competent to perform this kind of repairs in order to avoid all danger. In case of need you should return the appliance to this service.

POSITIONING OF THE APPLIANCE

The heater should only be operated at a minimum distance of 50cm from any wall or other object. Position the air flow in order to optimise the heating of the room. Avoid corners, small volumes, floors and ceilings.

OPERATION

When the appliance is switched on for the first time, a slight smell may be emitted. Please ensure sufficient ventilation. This smell will disappear very quickly.

Using the steplessly adjustable thermostat control, the unit can be pre-set to a specific temperature. When the intended temperature is reached, the unit will automatically switch off. Once the temperature has fallen below the pre-set level, the heater will switch on again.

If the thermostat is set to its “*” position, the unit will switch on once the temperature has fallen below 0°C. Make sure the heat output is sufficient to keep the room temperature above freezing point.

OVERHEATING PROTECTION

This heater is protected with an overheating protection that switches off the appliance automatically in case of overheating, e.g. due to the total or partial obstruction of the grids. In this case, unplug the appliance, wait about 10 minutes for it to cool and remove the object that is obstructing the grids. Then switch it back on as described above. The appliance should operate normally. Should the problem persist, please contact the nearest customer service.

CLEANING AND CARE

• Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely.
• To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the heater with water and do not immerse it in water or any other liquid.
  • The housing may be wiped with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
• If necessary, dust particles accumulated in the air outlet openings may be removed with a vacuum cleaner.
