How to descale my Kalorik TKG JK 1003 kettle?

To descale, fill the kettle halfway with a mixture of water and white vinegar (1:1) or use a commercial descaling agent. Bring to a boil, let sit for 15 minutes, rinse thoroughly with clean water. Repeat if necessary.

Why won't my kettle turn on?

Check that the base is properly plugged in and the kettle is correctly placed on the base. Make sure the switch is in the on position. If the problem persists, the dry boil safety system may be activated: let it cool down for a few minutes before trying again.

Can I boil water with milk or soups?

No, this kettle is designed only for heating water. Never boil milk, soup, or any other viscous liquids, as this could clog and damage the appliance.

How to clean the descaling filter?

USER MANUAL TKG JK 1003 KALORIK

Please read these instructions carefully before using the appliance, and always follow the safety and operating instructions.

Important: People (including children) who are not able to use the appliance in a safe way, due to their physical, sensorial or mental capacity or their lack of experience or knowledge, must never use the appliance except if they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or if they previously received instructions concerning the safe use of the appliance. Close supervision is necessary to prevent children from using the appliance as a toy.

☐ Check that your mains voltage corresponds to that stated on the appliance.
☐ Never leave the appliance unsupervised when in use.
From time to time check the appliance for damages. Never use the appliance if cord or appliance shows any signs of damage. In that case, repairs should be made by a competent qualified electrician ⁽¹⁾ . Should the cord be damaged, it must be replaced by a competent qualified electrician ⁽¹⁾ .
☐ Only use the appliance for domestic purposes and in the way indicated in these instructions.
☐ Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid for any reason whatsoever. Never put it in the dishwasher.

Before cleaning or storing the appliance, always unplug the appliance from the power supply and let it cool down.

FIELD OF APPLICATION/OF OPERATION

• Use the appliance for domestic purposes only and in the way indicated in these instructions.
• This appliance is intended to be used for domestic applications and similar applications such as:

Kitchen corners reserved for personnel in shops, offices and other professional environments.

Farms.

The use by clients of hotels, motels and other environments with a residential character.

Environments of the "bed and breakfast" type.

BEFORE THE FIRST OPERATION

For the perfect taste, operate the jug kettle with fresh water in order to clean any residue left from the manufacturing process. When the appliance has cooled down, repeat the process 3 times with fresh water, before rinsing.

OPERATION

• Always remove the jug from the power base before filling it or before any operation.
- Open the lid by pressing its release button and fill the jug with fresh water, paying attention not to fill under the minimum mark and above the maximum mark on the water level indicator.
- Close the lid by pressing it down until you hear a click. Make sure it closes correctly.
- Put the jug onto the power base, plug into the wall socket and switch on. The pilot light of the switch will come on, indicating that the appliance is operating. If it does not come on, check if the kettle is correctly positioned on the base and check if the base is plugged in.
- The jug kettle will switch off automatically when the water is boiling. However, you can stop the appliance any time by putting the switch in the off-position.
- Should you take the jug kettle from its base when it is still turned on, the appliance will remain switched on and will continue warming up automatically as soon as you put the jug kettle back on its base.
- For instant reboiling, wait until the water has cooled down and switch on the appliance again.

SAFETY CUT-OUT

• This jug kettle is protected with an automatic safety device which switches the appliance off when it is accidentally switched on without water. Please bear in mind that only the thermostat is switched off in case of overheat, whereas the switch stays in ON-position.
• In this case, unplug the appliance and wait about 10 minutes for the element to cool. Then pour in sufficient cold water to cover the element.
  • The kettle may then be used as normal.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

• Before attempting any cleaning operation, make sure the appliance is unplugged from the supply socket and fully cooled down.
• To clean the exterior surfaces, simply wipe over with a soft damp cloth and dry thoroughly. To remove scale from the inner walls of the kettle you can use a soft brush.
• Never use abrasive products.

- On no account must the jug kettle or its power base be immersed in water.

DESCALING

To remove scale from the jug kettle, use products made especially available for this purpose. Make sure to use a type recommended for plastic kettles.
