CAUTION

  1. Do not attempt to open the cabinet. There are no user serviceable parts inside. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
  2. Slots and openings in the cabinet and the sides or bottom are provided for ventilation. To ensure reliable operation and to protect the unit from overheating, these openings must not be blocked or covered. Avoid installation in enclosed spaces such as bookcases unless proper ventilation is provided.
  3. Keep the unit away from radiators and other heat sources.
  4. Do not push objects of any kind into the unit through the cabinet slots or openings as they could touch electrically live parts or short circuit parts resulting in a fire or electric shock.
  5. To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose this unit to dripping or splashing, no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, should be placed on the unit.
  6. Use the unit on a horizontal (flat) surface only.
  7. Do not place any combustible objects on the unit (candles, etc.).

  8. The LCD panel used in this unit is made of glass. Therefore, it can break when the unit is dropped or applied with impact. Be careful not to be injured by broken glass pieces in case the LCD panel breaks. The LCD panel is a very high technology product with 921,600 thin film transistors, giving you fine picture details. Occasionally, a few non-active pixels may appear on the TV screen as a fixed point of blue, green or red. Please note that this does not affect the performance of your unit.

  9. Disconnect the mains plug to switch off when the unit becomes faulty or not in use.
  10. The mains plug shall remain readily operable.
  11. Read the manual instructions to ensure correct and safe installation and interconnection of the unit in multimedia systems.
  12. Keep a distance of 20 cm around the ventilation openings of the unit.
  13. Batteries (battery pack or batteries installed) shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like.

Do not place the unit on the furniture that is capable of being tilted by a child or an adult leaning, pulling, standing or climbing on it. A falling unit can cause serious injury or even death.

The main power supply is engaged when the main plug is plugged in a 220-240 V\~, 50 Hz AC outlet. To operate the unit, press ⏻(power) to turn on the unit.

Attaching the Base

You must attach the base to the unit to have it as a table top unit. Be sure the front and rear of the base match the proper direction.

1 Spread a thick and soft cloth over a table as shown. Place the main unit face down onto it. Make sure not to damage the screen.

2 Align the 2 base hooks with the hooks under the bottom of the main unit (shown by arrow ①), then slide the base in the direction as shown by arrow ② until it stops and the 4 mounting holes are aligned. Make sure not to put the AC power cord between the base and the unit.

3 Drive Phillips pan screws into the 4 threaded holes at the bottom of the base until they are tight.

To remove the base from this unit

Unscrew the Phillips pan screws on step 3. After the screws are removed, pull the base up toward the rear of the unit. Be careful not to drop the base when you remove it.

Note: • When attaching the base, ensure that all screws are tightly fastened. If the base is not properly attached, it could cause the unit to fall, resulting in injuries as well as damage to the unit.
- Make sure to use the table which can support the weight of this unit and is larger than this unit.
• Make sure the table is in a stable location.

Tilt Stand

For 26" only

You can adjust the stand to change the angle of the unit (-2° to 10°).

Installing the Batteries

1 Open the battery compartment cover.
2 Insert R03/AAA 1.5V penlight batteries into battery compartment in the direction as indicated by the polarity (+/-) markings. Batteries installed with incorrect polarity may damage the remote unit.
3 Close the cover.
4 Push the cover on its top side until it clicks in order to fit the cover completely to the compartment.

Fixing the Unit on Your Furniture

Screw this unit on your furniture tightly using wood screws (not supplied) in the 2 holes at the back of the base as shown.

Recommended screw dimension : 5.1 × 20 mm

Note: When you remove this unit make sure to unscrew the wood screws from your Wood Stand, Furniture and other wood item.

1 Connect an RF cable to (aerial) Input jack at the rear of this unit.
2 Plug this unit into an AC outlet.
3 Turns on the main power switch.
4 When the STAND BY / POWER indicator on the front panel lights red, then press ⏻ to turn on the unit.

Note: If you like to connect an active DVB-T antenna, the antenna must have its own power supply.

It is not possible to power the antenna from the TV.

External Connection

HDMI connection

HDMI connection offers the highest picture quality. HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) transports high definition video and multi-channel digital audio through a single cable.

Connect the HDMI output jack of your video device and the HDMI (HDMI 1 / HDMI 2 / HDMI 3) Input jack of this unit. Use an HDMI cable.

By connecting an HDMI cable to your Funai LCD TV, you have to use only a certified HDMI cable to guarantee a sufficient immunity against parasitic frequency radiation. A certified HDMI cable can be identified by the HDMI logo on the cable or the cable package.

HIGH-DEFINITION MULTIMEDIA INTERFACE

Note: This unit accepts 480i / 480p / 576i / 576p / 720p / 1080i / 1080p video signals and 32 kHz / 44.1 kHz / 48 kHz audio signals for HDMI connection.
• This unit accepts only 2 channel audio signals (LPCM).
- You need to select "PCM" for the digital audio output of the device you connect. Make sure the device outputs the digital audio. Audio sometimes makes no sound if you select "Bitstream", etc.

Scart connection

Scart connection offers better picture quality.

Connect the scart jack of your video device and the Scart (Scart 1 / Scart 2) jack of this unit. Use a scart cable.

2 Connect the audio line out jack of your PC and the Audio Input jack for PC of this unit. Use a mini-plug audio cable.

Initial Setup

You need to set the followings to use the unit appropriately for the first time you turn on the unit.

1 Press ⏻ to turn on the unit.
2 Press ▲ / ▼ repeatedly to select the menu language you want, then press OK.

Note: If you select the country except [Spain], you can skip Step 4.

4 Press ▲ / ▼ to select the region you want, then press OK.

- Scan confirmation menu will appear.

5 Press OK to start scanning.

Note: • If you press MENU, you can skip to step 6.

  • If you press MENU during DTV channel scanning, this operation will be stopped and ATV channel scanning will start automatically.
  • If you press MENU during ATV channel scanning, this operation will be stopped and the lowest memorised channel will be displayed.
  • When no channel is registered, retry confirmation menu will appear.

6 Press ◀/▶ to select the location, then press OK.

Note: Selecting [at Home] reduces the backlight brightness for power saving. When "Initial Setup" is completed, you cannot change the location setting unless you restore this unit to "Factory Reset" (p. 27) and that restarts all over again such as channel scanning.

- If you select [Retailstore], the settings of picture and sound quality you adjusted will not be memorized after you turn off the unit.

To select a channel

Press PROG. ▲ / ▼ (control panel) or P ∧/∨ (remote control) repeatedly to select your desired channel.

Press the Number buttons to enter a channel number then OK for quicker access.

Colour System

You can change the TV colour system in video or scart mode.

Press COLOUR SYSTEM repeatedly to select the colour system you want, then press OK.

Note: When you select [Auto] by pressing COLOUR SYSTEM, this unit will distinguish the system automatically according to the input signal from the external devices.

ECO Mode

When you set [ECO Mode] to [On], backlight brightness will be reduced automatically which may save on power consumption.

On : The backlight is the lowest level.

Off : You can adjust the back light level at "Advance Picture Adjustment" (p. 17).

Channel Decode

ATV

Some TV stations transmit encoded TV signals which can only be viewed with a purchased or hired decoder. You can connect such a decoder to SCART jack of the unit. This function will automatically activate the connected decoder for the channel.

Auto Scan

You can scan the channels receivable in your area automatically.

• Auto Scan Confirmation message will appear.

Note: • Digital or analogue channels will be scanned depending on the TV mode (ATV mode or DTV mode) you selected.
- When the scanning is completed, the lowest memorised digital or analogue channel will be displayed.
- If you press MENU during the scanning, this operation will be stopped and the lowest memorised digital channel will be displayed.
- Please note that after tuning, the analogue channels will be stored in the order that they are broadcast by your local transmitter. This may not be in the same order in which you would like them to be stored. If this is the case, you can change the order according to your preference at "Channel Settings" (p. 19).

1 Press to turn on the teletext decoder. • [Teletext] information will appear.

C.I. (Common Interface)

DTV

This unit is equipped with a C.I. slot. You can enjoy additional services with this function, for example Pay TV. The access restrictions menu will appear on the TV screen when a CI module is installed.

1 Turn off the unit and unplug from an AC outlet.
2 Insert the CI module straight to the C.I. slot of this unit.
- Some CI modules may be a two-piece design consisting of a card reader with the viewing card. When using this kind of card, insert the card reader firmly into the C.I. slot on the unit first. Then, insert the viewing card into the reader.

3 Plug this unit into an AC outlet and press ⏻ to turn on the unit.

Auto Device Off

You can set your device to turn off by interlocking from this unit's power.
4 Press ▲ / ▼ to select [Auto Device Off], then press OK.
5 Press ▲ / ▼ to select [On] or [Off], then press OK.

On : Your connected FUN-LINK device turns off automatically when you turn off the unit.

Off : Your connected FUN-LINK device stays on even if you turn off the unit.

Auto TV On

This unit will turn on detected when the power on signal is sent from your connected FUN-LINK device.

4 Press ▲ / ▼ to select [Auto TV On], then press OK.
5 Press ▲ / ▼ to select [On] or [Off], then press OK.

On : This unit turns on automatically when you turn on your connected FUN-LINK device.

Off : This unit stays off even if you turn on your connected FUN-LINK device.

Device Control

You can operate some functions such as disc playback or call up the menu of the connected devices, by using this unit's remote control.

Device List

This function lets you see the product model number or name of connected devices.

Time Zone

You can set the time zone according to the resident area.

4 Press ▲ / ▼ to select [Time Zone], then press OK.

5 Press ▲ / ▼ to select the time difference you want, then press OK.

Auto : Automatically selects the time zone of your area to ensure the proper performance of the time.

Note: • Although you select [Auto], the correct time may not be displayed on the "TV Screen Information" (p. 13) depending on DTV broadcasting.
- Clock function in this unit is not available.

6 Press MENU to exit.

Auto Shut Off

You can set the unit to be shut down automatically if no activity is detected after the power is turned on for 4 hours. In spite of this setting, the unit is turned off automatically if there is no signal input from the antenna terminal and no user operation for 15 minutes.

5 Press ▲ / ▼ to select [On] or [Off], then press OK.
6 Press MENU to exit.

Software Download

DTV AT

1 Press MENU to display the menu.
2 Press ▲ / ▼ to select [OTHERS], then press OK.
3 Press ▲ / ▼ to select [Software], then press OK.

When you set to [On], this unit in stand-by mode detects and update a new version of software automatically.

4 Press ▲ / ▼ to select [Auto Update Search], then press OK.
5 Press ▲ / ▼ to select [On] or [Off], then press OK.

Search for new software

You can search for new version of software.

4 Press ▲ / ▼ to select [Search for new software], then press OK.

- When this unit found a new version of software, software update confirmation menu will appear.

5 Press ▲ / ▼ to select [Start] to update the software.

- Software updating will start.

Note: This process may take up to 60 minutes.

6 After the software update is completed, press ⏻ to restart this unit.

Factory Reset

You can restore this unit to factory settings.

1 Press MENU to display the menu.
2 Press ▲ / ▼ to select [OTHERS], then press OK.
3 Press ▲ / ▼ to select [Factory Reset], then press OK.
4 Press ▲ / ▼ to select [Reset], then press OK.
- All the settings are restored to the default even memorized channels, picture settings, and sound settings.

MAINTENANCE

Panel Cleaning

- If the LCD panel should require cleaning, wipe it with a cotton or soft cloth. Before cleaning the panel, disconnect the power cord.

Servicing

- Should your unit become inoperative, do not try to correct the problem by yourself. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Turn the unit off, unplug the power cord, and take the unit to a Service Centre for servicing.

Cabinet Cleaning

  • Wipe the front panel and other exterior surfaces of the unit with a soft cloth immersed in lukewarm water and wrung dry.
  • Never use a solvent or alcohol. Do not spray insecticide liquid near the unit. Such chemicals may cause damage and discoloration to the exposed surfaces.
