How do I set the clock on my Soundmaster MCD-9700?

Press and hold the CLOCK button on the remote until the hour digits flash. Use the ▶ or ◀ buttons to set the hour, then press CLOCK again to set minutes using the same buttons. The clock operates in 24-hour mode.

How can I program a custom playlist of tracks on a CD?

Ensure the disc is loaded with the label facing up, and it's not scratched or dirty. Check that the system is in CD mode (press INPUT). If the disc is dirty, clean with a soft cloth from center to edge.

How do I connect an external audio device like a smartphone?

Use a 3.5mm audio cable to connect your device to the AUX socket on the front panel. Then press INPUT repeatedly until AUX mode is displayed.

How do I clean the unit properly?

Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use benzene, thinners, or aerosol sprays. For CDs, wipe in a straight line from the center outward.

How do I set the sleep timer to automatically turn off the system?

Repeatedly press the SLEEP button on the remote to cycle through times from 90 to 10 minutes in 10-minute intervals. The display will show the selected time. The system will turn off after that period.

What should I do if the remote control doesn't work?

First, check the batteries in the remote (2 x AAA, not included) and ensure they are inserted correctly (+/-). Also, make sure there are no obstacles between the remote and the unit's sensor.

Read instructions carefully before using the unit

1) Power source: It is applicable to AC source of 220V-240V and 50Hz/60Hz.

2) Temperature: The ideal surrounding temperature is over 5. Difficult operation may occur under 0. Keep away from heat source.

3) Protection: Protect the cable plug, cable cord and socket against stepping, extruding and dragging.

4) In case of no use for a long time

In case that you do not use for a long time by a trip or other, never fail to pull out the power plug out of the receptacles.

5) Insertion of foreign substance will be prohibited

It might cause fire or hindrance if any subjects such as coin, needle which may conduct electricity will be put into the unit. Particularly you have to pay attention to the children's mischief.

6) Water and moisture

The unit should not be used near water---for example, near bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink, in a wet basement, or near a swimming pool, and the like

7) Ventilation: Good ventilation is required.

Never put DISC or any fabric over the machine. Distance from wall shall be no less than 10cm for good ventilation..

8) Cleaning

Always use a soft, dry cloth to clean the unit. Do not use such liquid as benzene or thinners, or chemically-treated cloths. Also, do not spray aerosol type insecticides near the unit.

9) To prevent electric shocks

Never open the top cover, rear panel and touch internal parts. Doing so can result in malfunction. When moving the unit, always unplug the power cord and disconnect all connection cords to prevent short-circuits or damaged wires. If an object or water should enter the unit, unplug the unit immediately and contact your store of purchase or qualified service personnel.

2.2 Install the battery of the remote controller.

Press down on the compartment cover, and slide to remove the cover.

Place the two batteries (UM4), (AAA), (LR03) batteries in the remote control according to the polarity markings ("+" and "-") inside the compartment.

Place the cover over the compartment, press down lightly, and push it upward until it snaps on.

III. BASIC OPERATION.

1. POWER ON: From the back, press the power switch on, and the standby light is turned on.

2. STANDBY: Press the STANDBY button to resume.

3. SIGNAL SELECTION: Press "INPUT" button can be chose the RADIO/CD/AUX format, each time press the button can be chose one format.

a. Press "USB/SD" to converse to play Disc/USB/SD mode, when at the CD mode. (USB/SD Function only playing while have without disc appearance)
Note: If use the USB or SD function when please confirm without Disc in the unit. USB and SD function can not use at the same time
b. USB/SD Card socket: Press "▲" to catches out the disc, then in served the "USB/SD Card" and press "USB/SD" to converse to play "USB/SD" mode, when at the CD mode.
c. Press "BAND" to converse to play AM/FM mode, when at the radio mode.

4. Adjusting the volume

To increase the volume:

1. Press the VOL control on the front panel, or press and hold the VOL+ button On the remote control.
2. The LCD display will briefly show the selected setting.

To reduce the volume:

1. Press the VOL control on the front panel, or press and hold the VOL- button on the remote control.
2. The LCD display will briefly show the selected setting.

To mute the sound:

1. Press the MUTE button, the LCD displays 'Mute', press MUTE again to turn off, the LCD not displays Mute.

5. Adjusting the EQ

Press the "EQ" button, each time can choose one function (FLAT, JAZZ, CLASSIC, POP, ROCK)

6. SETTING THE CLOCK

The internal clock operates in 24-hour mode.

The clock may be set when the system is playing or when in standby mode.

To set the clock:

1). Press and hold the CLOCK button on the remote control until the LCD display briefly shows 'Clock Set' with the hour digits flashing.
2). Whilst the hour digits are flashing press the ▶ or ◀ buttons to set the hour.
3). To set minutes press the CLOCK button again, now press the ▶ or ◀ buttons to set the minute digits. After a brief time the LCD display returns to the previously selected mode.

Note: The clock time settings will be lost when the system is switched off with the POWER ON/OFF switch, or when the mains plug is removed.

Setting the sleep function

The Sleep function when set will automatically switch your system off after a preset time.

A range of sleep preset times are available from 90 minutes down to 10 minutes in 10 minute intervals.

To view the preset times:

1). Repeatedly press the SLEEP button on the remote control to cycle through the range:

90>80>70>60>50>40>30>20>10 minutes, the LCD display then returns to the previously selected mode.

To set a sleep preset time for 40 minutes:

1). Press the SLEEP button six times, the LCD display briefly shows 'Sleep Time' and '40 minutes'. The system will now automatically turn off after 40 minutes.

To view the set sleep time remaining:

1). Press the SLEEP button once, the LCD display shows the time remaining.

To cancel the sleep function:

1). Repeatedly press the SLEEP button until the SLEEP indicator disappears from the display.

Setting the timer function

The timer, when set, will automatically switch your System 'on' from standby then and 'off' at pre-selected times.

The timer function may be set when the system is playing or when in standby mode.

Before setting the timer make sure the clock is set to the correct time of day.

Tune in to a radio station or place a CD in the system. When the system is switched on by the timer the radio or CD will then play.

To set the timer on and off times:

1). Press and hold the TIMER button on the remote control until the LCD display briefly shows either a previously set timer setting or 'Timer On Set 12:00' with the hour digits flashing.

2). To set the timer 'on' time, whilst the hour digits are flashing press the ▶ or ◀ buttons to set the hour.

3). To set minutes press the TIMER button again, now press the ▶ or ▶ buttons to set the minute digits.

4). To set the 'off' time press the TIMER button again, the LCD display will show 'Set Off Timer' with the hour digits flashing. Follow the same procedure in steps 2 and 3 above to set the timer 'off' time. After a brief time the LCD display returns to the previously selected mode.

5). To activate the timer so that your Radio System will switch on at the set time, press the STANDBY button to put the unit in to standby mode.

To check your timer setting:

1. Press and hold the TIMER button until the LCD display shows 'Timer On Set'.

2. To show your previously set times repeatedly press the TIMER button to skip through your 'on' and 'off' times.

To disable a timer setting:

1. Press the TIMER button briefly until the LCD display shows 'Timer Function Disabled'.

After a brief time the LCD display returns to the previously selected mode, the timer is now disabled.

To enable a timer setting:

1. Press the TIMER button briefly until the LCD display shows 'Timer Function Enabled'.

After a brief time the LCD display returns to the previously selected mode, the timer is now enabled.

7. USING THE AM/FM RADIO

• Press "INPUT" button to select AM/FM.
  ● AM Frequency 522 to 1620KHz, FM Frequency 87.5 to 108MHz.
• The auto tune function provided will automatically scan for stations and stop on a station with a strong signal level.
• The audio function allow listening in stereo and mono, there are 2 options 'auto' and 'mono'. If mono is selected any radio station broadcasting in stereo will only be heard in mono sound. This can be useful because when listening to a weak station in stereo selecting mono can often improve the quality of reception.

Auto tune function

Note: Ensure the telescopic aerial is fully extended.

To start the auto tune function to scan for the next radio station:

1). If disc play mode is currently selected Press the INPUT button, the LCD will display the welcome screen:

xxxxx Radio

2). Press the BAND button until the LCD display shows
'Switching to FM'. The radio will then tune to the station that was previously selected.

3). Press the AUTO button, the LCD will show frequencies changing until a station is found, the station is then played.

Manual tune

1). Whilst listening to a station press the buttons TUNING '-' or '+' to tune up or down.
The LCD display will show the frequency changing.

Selecting audio function

To select audio function 'auto' (stereo and mono reception) or 'mono'(mono only reception):

1). Whilst listening to a station pressing the ENTER/ST/MO button will select 'auto' or 'mono' mode. The LCD display shows 'Audio mode: Mono' or 'Audio mode: auto'.

Store and recall a preset station

This unit has 30 presets for FM and 20 presets for AM. Please use the following steps to store favorite stations into the preset memories:

a. Press the BAND button to select the required AM/FM
b. Press "AUTO" button or "TUNING"-"/+"button to turning stations.

C. Press "MEM" button 3 sec, When have CH-XX' show on display and bicker, that press the number key of remote, to set the stations. And press this key every time will turn to the preset stations

CH-02 93.50MHz Auto (Stereo)

Select each of the tracks you wish to play using the numeric buttons. If you require to programmed a track above 10, use the 10+ button. Each press of this button will increase the selection by ten. For example:

To programmed track 12, press the 10+ button once and then press the 2 button. To programmed track 24, press the 10+ button twice and then press the 4 button.

Displaying data information

To display data information:

1. Whilst listening to a station repeatedly press the DISPLAY button to select the data information required, the display will show the data information in the bottom line of the LCD display.

Handling Compact Discs

To remove a CD from its storage case, press down on the centre of the case and lift the disc out.

Hold the disc by the edges. Avoid touching the recorded side of the disc.

Compatible Compact Discs

Only compact discs identified with the mark shown opposite can be used with your CD player.

For positions of the controls referred to in these instructions see the illustration.

Loading and playing CD discs

1. Press the Function button until CD/USB/CARD is displayed on the screen
2. To open the CD drawer press the ▲ button. The LCD display shows Open.
3. Place the CD in the compartment with the label side facing upwards.
4. To close the CD drawer press the ▲ button again. The LCD shows Closed, when fully closed the CD player starts to spin the disc, the LCD will display Reading Disc.
5. The CD starts to play, the LCD display will show track the number playing and time played, see example below.

Removing CDs

1. Press the ■ button, the CD will stop playing. The LCD will display Stop and the number of tracks and play time of the CD.
2. Wait until the CD stops spinning then press to open the CD drawer. Remove the disc then press to close the CD drawer.

CAUTION! Do not put anything other than a CD into the compartment.

Other objects may damage the CD mechanism. Do not force the lid to open further than the mechanism allows. Keep the lid closed when not in use to prevent dirt and dust from entering the mechanism.

Never insert more than one CD at a time. If a CD is deeply scratched or too dirty, it may not play.

Pause

1. To stop a track temporarily, press the Ⅱ button on the remote control. The CD will pause at the current play position. The LCD display shows the current track and the time played.
2. To resume play, press the II button on the remote control.

Skip forwards or backwards through tracks

1. To select the next track, press the ➤ button. If you are on the last track of the CD, the player will return to track 1.
2. To go back to the previous track press the 🎨 button. If you are on the track 1 of the CD, the player will go to the last track on the CD.
3. To play a particular track press either ▶ or ◀ buttons until the track number required is shown on the LCD display.

Programmed track selection

You can set your CD Player to play a preset selection of tracks.

1. Press the ■ so the CD is not playing then press the PROG button. The LCD display will show 00 P-00. The first two digits 00 are where the selected track number is entered, P-00 Is the program counter which will increment after a track is entered.
2. Press either ▶ or ◀ buttons until the required track number is shown. The LCD displays the selected track and the program counter which has incremented to P-01.
3. Press the PROG button again, the LCD will now display 00 P-02 and is ready for another track to be entered.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 above until all the tracks are stored.
5. To clear a program so the program counter is reset to 00 P-00 press the ■ button.
6. To play the programmed tracks press the ▶ button.
7. When playing a program you can skip through the programmed selection using the ▶ and ◀ buttons.
8. After all the programmed tracks have been played, the CD player stops automatically and your programmed selection is cleared.

Note: There can be up to a maximum of 20 tracks stored, the same track can be stored more than once.

Repeat disc play

You can set your CD player to repeat a single track, the whole CD or your programmed selection of tracks.

To repeat a single track during play mode:

1. Press either ▶ or ◀ buttons to select the track you wish to repeat. The LCD display shows the selected track and the track will play.
2. Press the REPEAT button until the LCD display shows 'Repeat One track' The selected track will play continuously until you press the ■ button.
3. To cancel the repeat function and to continue playing the CD press the REPEAT button until the LCD display shows 'Repeat Off'.

To repeat a single track during stop mode:

1. Press either ▶ or ◀ buttons to select the track you wish to repeat. The LCD display shows the selected track.
2. Press the REPEAT button until the LCD display shows Repeat One track.
3. Press the ▶ button to start repeat single play.

To repeat the entire CD during play mode:

1. Press the REPEAT button until the LCD display shows 'Repeat All Track'. The entire disc will play continuously until you press the ■ button.
2. To cancel the repeat function and to continue playing the CD press the REPEAT button until the LCD display shows 'Repeat Off'.

To repeat the entire CD during stop mode:

1. Press the REPEAT button until the LCD display shows 'Repeat All Track'.
2. Press the ▶ button to start repeat entire play.

To repeat a programmed selection:

Select your programmed tracks as described previously.

1. Whilst the programmed selection is playing press the REPEAT button until the LCD display shows Repeat All. The programmed tracks will play continuously until you press the ■ button.
2. To cancel the repeat function and to continue playing the CD press the REPEAT button until the LCD display shows 'Repeat Off'.

Repeat an MP3 folder

You can set your MP3 player to repeat a folder, this will repeatedly play all the tracks within the folder.

To repeat the currently playing folder:

1. Press the REPEAT button until the LCD display show 'Repeat Dir'. All tracks within the folder currently playing will now be repeated continuously.

2. To cancel the repeat folder function and to continue playing the CD press the REPEAT button until the LCD display shows 'Repeat Off'.

To select a folder for repeat in stop mode:

1. Press the REPEAT button until the LCD display shows 'Repeat Dir'.

2. Press the ▶ or ◀ buttons until the folder for repeat is shown on the LCD display.

3. Press the ▶ button to start play. All tracks within the folder currently playing will now be repeated continuously.

4. To cancel the repeat folder function and to continue playing the CD press the REPEAT button until the LCD display shows 'Repeat Off'.

9. USING THE RIPPING

Ripping main function is copy the CD mode date form CD and transform it to the MP3 mode date into the USB/CARD. When it under the CDDA display state, first to press the RIPPING button then the system will copy the CD mode date from one up. At one time the system will transform the CD format date to the MP3 format and leave it on the USB/CARD.(System will auto to detect the medium, first is the USB→CARD.(If not find the USB/CARD in ,this function couldn't go on . During the Ripping state press again the Ripping button then the ripping will stop. If the song not copy complete .It will lose it. But the song still goes on playing. If it's under MP3 format play state, the ripping function is like the same as copy function. Press the RIPPING button, then the system will copy the songs in the USB/CARD. During the copy if you press the RIPPING button again, then the Ripping function will stop and the currently will lose, but the disc playing not affect. Similarly is when you play the song in the USB ,then you press the RIPPING button ,the system will copy the song into the CARD ,and you press the button again ,then the copy will stop .And the currently song will lose to copy But the not affect the song playing. (This function is the same as the CARD)

■ CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Cleaning CDs

Use a soft cloth to remove fingerprints and dust from the disc surface. Wipe in a straight line from the centre to the outside of the disc.

● Never use chemicals such as record sprays, anti-static sprays, benzine or thinners to clean your CDs.
● To reduce the risk of scratches, always put CDs back in their cases after use.
- Do not expose CDs to direct sunlight, high humidity or high temperatures for long periods.
- Do not stick paper or write on either side of the CD.
