Frequently Asked Questions - HDS 66 KATHREIN

How do I install the HDS 66 control unit?
Mount the HDS 66 on an inner wall of the vehicle near the jointed mast using the provided screws. Ensure the display is easily seen and the F-type female connectors face downward to read the display.
What is the power supply requirement for the HDS 66?
The HDS 66 is powered directly from the receiver, requiring no external power supply. It consumes an excess of 150 mA; ensure the receiver can supply this.
Which devices are compatible with the HDS 66?
It is compatible with any receiver or TV with an integrated tuner, but exclusively works with the HDZ 60/66 elevation indicator and BAS 60/66 planar antenna.
How do I attach the F-type connectors to the cable?
Remove 10 mm of the outer plastic jacket, pull back the braided shield, remove 7 mm of dielectric and aluminium foil from the inner conductor, then screw the F-type connector hand-tight onto the cable end. Ensure no contact between braided shield and inner conductor to avoid short circuit.
How do I connect the cables between receiver, HDS 66, and HDZ 60/66?
There are two options: either cut the cable between receiver and elevation indicator and attach F-type connectors to both ends (use solid inner conductor cable), then connect to HDS 66; or connect HDS 66 to HDZ 60/66 with one cable and use a separate coaxial cable (not included) from receiver to HDS 66.
What does the backlight do?
The backlight automatically turns off if there is no change in elevation (power saving mode) and automatically turns on when elevation changes.
Can I use the HDS 66 with any satellite antenna?
No, the HDS 66 is intended exclusively for use with the BAS 60/66 planar antenna in combination with the HDZ 60/66 elevation indicator. Other uses void the warranty.
What should I do if the display does not work?
Check that the cable connections are secure and the F-type connectors are properly attached. Ensure the receiver is supplying power and that the cable inner conductor is solid. If the issue persists, verify compatibility with HDZ 60/66 and BAS 60/66.
How should I dispose of the HDS 66 at the end of its life?
Do not dispose as household waste. According to the WEEE directive (2002/96/EC), take it to an appropriate official collection point for electronic waste.
What is included in the scope of delivery?
The package includes the HDS 66 control unit, 2 screws for wall mounting, and 2 F-type connectors.

NOTICE

The HDS 66 leads to an excess consumption of 150 mA. Make sure that the receiver is able to supply this excess consumption.

KATHREIN

The elevation indicator and the receiver are connected by means of a cable. The HDS 66 control unit has two F-type female connectors, i.e. two cables are necessary. There are two options to connect the HDS 66 to the receiver and the HDZ 60/66 elevation indicator:

  1. Cut the cable between the receiver and the elevation indicator and attach the provided F-type connectors onto both ends of the cable, see Attach the F-type connectors.
