Frequently Asked Questions - EF-EOS R 0.71x CANON

What is the Canon EF-EOS R 0.71x lens adapter?
It is a mount adapter that allows you to use Canon EF lenses on Canon RF-mount cameras with a 0.71x focal length reduction, effectively increasing the lens's maximum aperture and providing autofocus and image stabilization support.
Which cameras are compatible with this adapter?
As per the manual, the adapter is compatible with the Canon EOS C70. For other RF-mount cameras, compatibility may vary; check Canon's website for updates.
How do I attach the adapter to the camera?
Turn the camera off, align the mount index on the adapter with the camera's mount index, then turn the adapter clockwise until it clicks. Then firmly attach the two lock plates using the supplied hex wrench. Finally, attach the lens similarly.
Can I use any EF lens with this adapter?
Most EF lenses can be used, but full functionality (autofocus, IS) is guaranteed only with full-function lenses listed in the manual (e.g., EF16-35mm f/2.8L III USM). For other lenses, manual exposure and focus are recommended, and some corrections may not be available.
How do I clean the contacts on the adapter?
If the contacts are soiled, clean them gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid scratching the contacts, as this can cause malfunctions.
What is the rubber ring for, and can it be replaced?
The rubber ring on the rear mount improves dust-resistance and water-resistance. It can be replaced at a Canon Service Center for a fee.
Is there any safety precaution I should follow?
Do not leave the adapter in extreme heat (e.g., car in direct sunlight) or cold. High temperatures can cause malfunction. Also, always attach front and rear caps when detaching the adapter to protect the contacts.
Does the adapter affect lens functionality like autofocus and IS?
Yes, when used with full-function lenses, the adapter supports autofocus and image stabilization. For non-full-function lenses, manual focus is recommended.
What are the dimensions and weight of the adapter?
The adapter dimensions are approximately 77.2 x 76.6 x 20.7 mm (3.04 x 3.02 x 0.81 in). It weighs about 200 g (7.05 oz) for the adapter alone, or 230 g (8.11 oz) including the lock plates.
Where can I find the latest list of full-function lenses?
Canon regularly updates the list. Check the Canon website for the most current information on full-function lenses compatible with this adapter.
