Frequently Asked Questions - ES Vemer

How do I install the Vemer ES electrode?
Installation must be performed by a qualified person. Disconnect power supply before wiring. Mount the electrode in the vessel ensuring proper immersion. Connect the terminal to the relay using a cable section of max 1.5 mm². Refer to the manual for tightening torques.
What is the maximum temperature for the ESL model?
The ESL electrode can operate at a maximum temperature of 80°C. For higher temperatures, use the EST model rated up to 200°C.
Can the ES electrode be used with relays other than Vemer LCR?
The electrodes are optimized for the Vemer LCR high-sensitivity relay. While they may work with other relays, performance is not guaranteed. Always check compatibility with the relay's sensitivity specifications.
What is the difference between ESL, ES, and EST models?
The ESL is a small electrode for basic level detection. The ES adds a ballast for stability in turbulent liquids. The EST features an extension rod and is designed for high temperature (200°C) and high pressure (80 bar) environments.
What type of cable should I use for connection?
Use 1.5 mm² silicon conductors for flexibility and heat resistance. For long distances, keep signal cables separate from power cables or use screened cables to avoid interference.
Is the electrode suitable for potable water?
The electrode is made of stainless steel, which is generally safe for potable water. However, verify local regulations and ensure the electrode is clean and free from contaminants before use.
How do I clean the electrode?
Clean the electrode with a damp cloth and mild detergent if needed. Avoid abrasive materials or solvents that could damage the stainless steel or nylon holder. Rinse with clean water and dry before reuse.
Can the electrode be fully submerged?
Only the sensing tip should be immersed in the conductive liquid. The terminal area must remain dry and above the liquid level to prevent short circuits and oxidation.
What is the warranty for Vemer ES electrodes?
Vemer typically offers a 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects. Check with your retailer for specific terms. The warranty does not cover damage from improper installation or misuse.
How do I know which model to choose for my application?
For standard wells or tanks up to 80°C, choose ESL or ES (with ballast if needed). For high-pressure or high-temperature applications like boilers (up to 200°C, 80 bar), select the EST model with extension rod.

User Manual

SINGLE-POLE ELECTRODES

Read all the instruction carefully

■ The single-pole electrodes series ES are designed to monitor fitting levels of electrically conductive liquids in well, storage tanks, boilers or surge tanks.
■ They can be coupled to the high sensitivity relay LCR, manufactured by VEMER.
■ The max operational voltage is 50 V AC.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

ESL

  • Stainless steel electrode of small dimensions, with nylon holder for protection against unintentional contact. A cable-bushing and a seal ring prevent the connection terminal coming in contact with the water and, consequently, oxidizing.
This electrode is used in metallic or non-metallic wells and storage tanks.

ES

• Electrode like type ESL, but provided with ballast.

EST

- Stainless steel electrode complete with extension rod and designed for use in boilers, surge tanks and, generally speaking, in all cases where conditions of high pressure and high temperature exist.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLATION

  • Do non install the electrode if a part of this is damaged.
  • Before carrying out any installation operation, follow the instructions in this leaflet carefully.
  • Always disconnect the supply before carrying out any connection, assembling or commissioning operations on the electrode and make sure that the conductors to connect or already connected to the terminals are not live.
  • The installation should take place in accordance with the accident prevention provisius in force.
  • The cable section is given in the “Technical Specifications” table, together with the tightening torque value.
  • We recommended using 1,5 mm ^2 silicon conductors for the connection of these electrodes to the associated level control relay.
  • The cable that interconnect the relay to the electrodes should if possible be kept separate from the supply cables, especially where long distances are involved. If this is not possible, we recommend using of screened cables.
