How does the Ruggard PDC24-BB dehumidifier work?

The dehumidifier uses rechargeable silica gel that absorbs moisture from the air inside the case. The gel changes color from orange (dry) to green (saturated) to indicate moisture level. To regenerate, plug it into the AC adapter until the gel turns orange again.

How long does it take to charge the dehumidifier?

Charging can take up to 12 hours or until the gel status window shows orange. The power LED indicates when it is receiving power. Allow the unit to cool for 10-20 minutes before placing it in the case.

What is the optimal relative humidity level for storing camera equipment?

For most photographic and optical equipment like cameras, lenses, and telescopes, the recommended relative humidity level is between 40% and 50%.

Can I leave the dehumidifier inside the case while charging?

No. The dehumidifier becomes hot during charging. Always charge it outside the case in a well-ventilated area, and let it cool before placing it inside the case.

How do I know when the dehumidifier needs to be recharged?

The gel status window shows the saturation level. When the gel is green, it is saturated and needs recharging. When it is orange, it is dry and ready to use.

Can I use the case without the dehumidifier?

Yes, the case provides physical protection. However, without the dehumidifier, it will not actively reduce humidity. Using the dehumidifier is recommended to prevent mold and corrosion.

OVERVIEW

Dehumidifier

1. Gel status window: View the current moisture saturation level of the gels. Orange is low saturation, and green is high saturation. After completely charging the gels, let the dehumidifier cool for 10 to 20 minutes before use. Then, place it inside the Portable Dry Case along with the equipment you want to keep dry.

1. Power LED: Shows that the dehumidifier is receiving power. Charging can last up to 12 hours or until the gels turn orange.

Warning! When the dehumidifier is plugged into an outlet for charging, the unit can become hot to the touch.

NINETY-DAY LIMITED WARRANTY

This Ruggard product is warranted to the original purchaser to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal consumer use for a period of ninety (90) days from the original purchase date or thirty (30) days after replacement, whichever occurs later. The warranty provider's responsibility with respect to this limited warranty shall be limited solely to repair or replacement, at the provider's discretion, of any product that fails during normal use of this product in its intended manner and in its intended environment. Inoperability of the product or part(s) shall be determined by the warranty provider. If the product has been discontinued, the warranty provider reserves the right to replace it with a model of equivalent quality and function.

This warranty does not cover damage or defect caused by misuse, neglect, accident, alteration, abuse, improper installation or maintenance.
