USER MANUAL Walkman WM-F2041 SONY

• Operate the unit only on 3 V DC.
- For AC operation, use the AC power adaptor recommended for this unit.
For car battery operation, use the car battery cord recommended by this unit.
- When the internal batteries are not to be used, remove them to use devices coated by battery insulating and corrosion.
• Do not leave the unit in a location near heat sources, in a
place subject to direct sunlight, sand or excessive dust, moisture, rain, or mechanical shock, or in a car with its windows closed.
- For the unit to operate at its best, it should not be subject to temperatures below 5°C (40°F).
- Should any solid object or liquid fall into the unit, remove the batteries and disconnect the AC power adaptor or the car battery cord, and have the unit checked by qualified personnel before operating it any further.
- If the unit has not been used for a long time, set it in the playback mode to warm it up for a few minutes before inserting a cassette
• Avoid listening with your headphones:
— while driving, cycling, etc.
— for an extended period of time at a high volume
- Remember not to disturb those close to you with the sounds coming from your headphones.
• To obtain the optimum sound, keep the plug of your headphones clean by wiping it with a dry soft cloth. • Never blow on the ear pieces
Note on caseries longer than 90 minutes
The use of cassettes longer than 90 minutes is not recommended except for long continuous playback.

Before operating the unit, please read this manual thoroughly and retain it for future reference.

Tape Playback

Note

To stop the tape, press is STOP To advance the tape rapidly, depress ◆ FF/CUE. To rewind the tape, depress ◆ REWREVIEW. After winding the tape with ◆ FF/CUE or ▶ REWREVIEW, be sure to press is STOP. When the tape comes to its end during playback, tape motion stops and the locked ◆ PLAY will be released by the automatic shutdown mechanism. In skip over or repeat a certain portion during playback. Keep ◆ FF/CUE or ▶ REWREVIEW pressed. When you release the button, playback will resume. To stop the tape for a moment in playback mode Slide PAUSE down (orange man). To improve receiving condition FM FM: Since the headphones cord serves as an FM antenna, extend it for better reception. AM: Since the reception is affected by the direction of the unit move the unit for optimum reception.

To Improve FM sensitivity While listening to FM programs, normally set FM SENS to DX. However, if a very strong station signal is distorted, set it to LOCAL. The nose will be reduced.

Recording from the Built-in Radio/Recording with the Supplied Microphone

Recording from Various Sound Sources

Cleaning

Cleaning the heads Clean the tape heads after every 10 hours of use. 1 White pressing the lever in the direction of the arrow as shown, depress REC to move the heads out for easier access. 2 Moaten a cotton swab or left cash with alcohol and gently wipe the parts shown in the illustration.

Note After the heads have been cleaned, be sure to press ■ STOP to move the heads back to their original positions.
