4 Getting started

Please remove the kettle and the base plate from the packing and clean the unit with a damp cloth. Afterwards connect the kettle to a properly installed grounded socket. Before regular use, fill the water reservoir with cold water to its maximum level and boil according the following instructions. Thereafter discard the water in order to remove any residues of the production process. Repeat these process if necessary..

5 Usage

At first, open the kettle. To do this, pull the cover on the plastic-handle to the top. Please fill it with cold water. There is a scale on the exterior of the kettle. Please do not fill the case above the maximum mark. Then put the lid on the kettle.

Note: Please only use the kettle with the lid due to the fact that the automatic shutdown only works in closed position. Furthermore, when heated without the lid water can leak. There is a risk of scalding! Place the kettle on the base plate and press the on / off switch down. The water is heated. Once the water has reached the target temperature, the kettle shuts off automatically.

6 Decaling and cleaning

We recommend decalcifying the kettle in regular intervals, depending on the intensity of use. Before cleaning, it is essential to remove the power plug from the socket and wait until the device is completely cooled down. The scale filter is located in front of to the spout. To remove the filter, open the cover and push the plastic flap downwards. Then deep clean the filter with warm water and reinsert it into the holder. When inserting the filter, make sure that the retaining lug snaps into the guide rail. Only use conventional decaling agents based on citric acid. Please follow the manufacturer's instructions for dosing the respective product you have chosen. The base plate must not be cleaned and should not be processed with sharp or hard objects. For cleaning the outer surface of the kettle, only use a damp cloth. Never use hard or abrasive objects like a wire brush or a steel-sponge for cleaning. Please do not use any aggressive cleaning agents which could be harmful or unhealthy. It also could damage the surface.

7 Important safety instructions

• This device may only be used in accordance with its intended purpose and for private use.
• It is not for commercial use.
• This device is only designed for indoor use. Keep it away from heat sources (e.g. electric stove), high temperatures and direct sunlight.
• Do not place the kettle near waters sources like basins.
• Do not touch the kettle with wet hands.
• To keep the unit from dropping over, make sure that the support surface is even.
• Pull out the main plug from the socket when the machine is not in use or during cleaning.
• Please only operate the device using the electrical current indicated on the bottom base plate.
• This device is not intended to be used by persons (including children) with limited physical, sensory or mental aptitude or lack of experience and/or knowledge unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or have received instructions as to how the device is used properly.
• Children must be supervised in order to make sure that they do not play with this device.
• Keep packaging items (plastic bags, carton, styrofoam, etc.) out of reach of children, as they represent a potential source of danger.
• Only fill the water tank with fresh cold water and do not cook remaining water a second time.
• Do not move the machine while it is operating.
• Never open the cover during brewing process, this could lead to scaldings.
• Keep away from emitting water vapour during brewing process. Otherwise it can cause burns.
• After brewing the heating element stays hot for a while. Make sure that nobody touches the inside of the kettle to avoid burns!
• The unit may only be operated by using the provided base plate.
• Allow sufficient space between this kettle and other devices and walls to ensure proper ventilation. Do not cover the device.

• Do not cook any other liquids than water.

• Never operate this unit without inserted filter, otherwise hot water may spurt out.

• During the operation the housing becomes hot. Therefore only touch the unit by its handle

Never try to open the device to carry out repairs or conversions. Avoid contact with mains voltages. Do not short-circuit the product. The device is not certified for use in the open air; only use it in dry conditions. Protect it from high humidity, water and snow. Keep it away from high temperatures. Do not subject the device to sudden changes in temperature or heavy vibration as this might damage electronic components. Examine the device for damage before using it. The unit should not be used if it has received an impact or has been damaged in any other way. Please observe national regulations and restrictions. Do not use the device for purposes other than those described in the instructions. This product is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children or mentally impaired persons. Any repair or alteration to the device not carried out by the original supplier, will invalidate the warranty or guarantee. The product may only be used by persons who have read and understood these instructions. The device specifications may change without any separate prior notice to this effect.

9 Disposal Instructions

Electrical and electronic devices may only be disposed of in accordance with the European WEEE Directive and not with household rubbish. Components must be disposed of or recycled separately as dangerous, toxic elements can inflict sustained damage on the environment if they are disposed of incorrectly. As a consumer, you are bound by the Electrical and Electronic Devices Act (ElektroG) to return electrical and electronic goods free of charge at the end of their useful life to the manufacturer, the place of purchase or to specially set up, public collection points.
