Frequently Asked Questions - PRC 9GS2 PRIVILEG

How to adjust the refrigerator temperature?
Use the thermostat knob inside. Turn it from 1 (highest temperature) to 5 (lowest temperature). For long-term storage, set it to 3 or 4. To freeze fresh food, set to 5, then return to previous position after freezing. Do not turn below 1 as this stops the appliance.
What does the indicator light on the handle mean?
The "Door open" indicator shows if the door is properly closed. If red, the door is open. If white, the door is closed. Always keep the freezer door closed to prevent thawing and ice buildup.
How to clean the interior of the refrigerator?
Unplug the appliance. Use a solution of warm water and baking soda (one teaspoon per liter). Do not use abrasive products. Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly. Do not pour water directly on the appliance. Also clean the water drain hole regularly with the drain rod.
How to defrost the freezer compartment?
The day before, set the thermostat to 5 to freeze food. On defrosting day, set thermostat to • (stop) and unplug. Wrap frozen food in paper and keep cool. Leave door open. To speed up, place bowls of hot water inside. Once defrosted, dry and set thermostat to MAX before plugging back in.
The appliance makes a gurgling noise, is it normal?
Yes, it is normal. The refrigerant gas circulating may produce a slight gurgling noise even when the compressor is not running. If a different noise occurs, check that the appliance is level, no objects touch the back, and interior items do not vibrate.
Water accumulates at the bottom of the refrigerator, what to do?
The drain hole is probably clogged. Use the supplied drain rod to clean it. You can also pour half a glass of water into the hole to clear it. Make sure the evaporation tray at the back is clean.
How to make ice cubes?
Fill the ice cube tray with drinking water (do not use other liquids). Place it in the freezer compartment. Once frozen, twist the tray to release the cubes. Do not touch cubes with wet hands as they may stick.
What are the tips to save energy?
Place the appliance in a cool room, away from sunlight and heat sources. Let food cool before storing. Defrost food in the refrigerator to benefit from cold. Keep doors closed as briefly as possible. Clean the condenser twice a year.
What is the minimum distance to respect around the appliance?
Leave a space of at least 150 mm above the appliance. Do not place anything on top. At the back and sides, allow enough space for ventilation (at least 5 cm from electric ovens, 50 cm from stoves or radiators). Do not cover the appliance.
What to do in case of R600a refrigerant gas leak?
R600a is explosive. If you suspect a leak (smell, damage), move the appliance away from any flame or heat source, ventilate the room for several minutes, and contact a professional. Never damage the refrigeration circuit.

BEFORE CALLING YOUR AFTER SALES SERVICE

If your refrigerator is not working properly, it may be a minor problem, therefore check the following.

The appliance does not operate,

Check if:

• There is a power failure,
• The mains plug is not plugged in properly, or is loose
- The thermostat setting is on position “•”,
- The socket is defective. To check this, plug in another appliance that you know is working into the same socket.

The appliance performs poorly,

Check if:

  • You have overloaded the appliance,
    • The doors are not closed properly,
  • There are not enough ventilation ducts on the kitchen unit as mentioned in the Installation Manual.

If there is noise:

The cooling gas which circulates in the refrigerator circuit may make a slight noise (bubbling sound) even when the compressor is not running. Do not worry, this is quite normal. If you hear a different sound,

check if:

  • The appliance is installed firmly as described in the Installation Manual.
    • The objects on the appliance are vibrating.

If there is water in the lower part of the refrigerator,

Check if:

  • The drain hole for the water is not clogged (use the defrost drain plug to clean the drain hole).
  • If your fridge is not cooling sufficiently:
  • Your fridge is designed to operate in the ambient temperature intervals stated in the standards, according to the climate class stated on the information label. We do not recommend operating your fridge out of stated temperatures value limits. This will reduce the cooling efficiency of the fridge.

Recommendations

  • Unplug the refrigerator during a power cut in order to prevent any damage to the compressor. Wait 5-10 minutes before plugging the appliance in once power returns.
  • If you unplug your refrigerator for any reason, wait at least 5 minutes before plugging it in. This will avoid damage to the refrigerator's components.
  • The cooling unit of your refrigerator is hidden at the rear of the appliance. Therefore, water droplets or icing may occur on the rear surface of your fridge due to the operation of the compressor at specified intervals. This is normal, there is no need to perform a defrosting operation unless the icing is excessive.
  • If you do not intend to use your fridge for a long period of time (e.g. in summer holidays), put the thermostat to “•” position. After defrosting, clean your fridge and leave the door open to prevent humidity and smells.
  • If a problem persists after you have followed all the instructions above, please consult the nearest Authorised Service Centre.
  • The appliance you have purchased is designed for domestic use and can only be used for the stated purposes. It is not suitable for commercial use. If the consumer uses the appliance in a way that does not comply with this, we emphasise that the manufacturer and dealer will not be responsible for any repair or failure within the guarantee period.

Tips for saving energy

  1. Install the appliance in a cool, well ventilated room, but not in direct sunlight and not near a heat source (radiator, cooker.. etc). Otherwise use an insulating plate.
  2. Allow warm food and drinks to cool down outside the appliance.
  3. When thawing frozen food, place it in the refrigerator compartment. The low temperature of the frozen food will help to cool the refrigerator compartment when it is thawing. This will help to save energy. If the frozen food is put out, it results in a waste of energy.
  4. Cover drinks or other liquids when placing them in the appliance Otherwise humidity increases in the appliance. Therefore, the working time gets longer. Also covering drinks and other liquids helps to preserve smell and taste.
  5. Try to avoid keeping the doors open for long periods or opening the doors too frequently as warm air will enter the cabinet and cause the compressor to switch on unnecessarily often.
  6. Keep the covers of the different temperature compartments (crisper, chiller ...etc) closed
  7. Door gasket must be clean and pliable. Replace gaskets if worn.
