Frequently Asked Questions - Alpatec PRMB 1600 TAURUS

How to install the Alpatec PRMB 1600 heater?
The unit can be installed on the floor with the supplied castors or mounted on the wall. For wall mounting, mark the location at least 25 cm from the floor, drill the wall and screw in the plastic brackets. Then hang the unit on the brackets using the adhesive pads. For floor installation, turn the unit over and attach the feet with the supplied screws. Ensure a clearance of 50 cm around the unit.
Can I use this heater in a bathroom?
No, the unit must not be used in a damp room such as a bathroom, nor near a swimming pool or any water source. Moisture increases the risk of electric shock. Use it only in a dry location.
What to do if the appliance emits an odor during first use?
A slight smoke or odor may occur during first use, this is normal and stops after a few seconds. Ensure the room is well ventilated. If the odor persists, unplug the appliance and contact customer service.
How to clean the heater?
Always unplug the appliance and wait for it to cool completely before cleaning. Use a damp cloth (not wet) to wipe the surface. Never use abrasive products or immerse the appliance in water. Avoid water entering the air vents.
What to do in case of overheating?
The appliance is equipped with an overheat protection device that automatically turns it off in case of excessive heat. If this happens, unplug the appliance and let it cool completely before reuse. Check that the air vents are not blocked. If the problem persists, contact a qualified professional.
The appliance turns off by itself, is this normal?
Yes, the appliance is equipped with a thermostat that automatically cuts off the heating when the desired temperature is reached. It turns back on when the ambient temperature drops. This is normal operation to maintain a constant temperature. The appliance also turns off if it tips over (tip-over safety).
Can I cover the appliance?
No, never cover the appliance when it is plugged in or operating. This causes overheating and a fire risk. The air vents must remain clear. Do not use it to dry textiles or animals.
How to adjust the power and temperature?
Use the operating switch to select the power: position I = 600 W, II = 1000 W, III = 1600 W. Then turn the thermostat to select the desired temperature. The indicator light turns on when the appliance is heating. To turn off, set the switch to 0 and unplug.
Is the appliance equipped with a thermostat?
Yes, the appliance has an adjustable thermostat that controls the ambient temperature. It automatically turns off the heating when the selected temperature is reached and turns it back on if the temperature drops. However, the manual states that the appliance is not equipped with an ambient temperature control thermostat (sic), but there is indeed a thermostat. Use it with caution in small rooms.
What to do if the appliance does not turn on?
First check that the appliance is plugged into a working outlet and that the residual current device has not tripped. Make sure the switch is in a position other than 0. If the appliance still does not turn on, there may be a safety issue (tip-over or overheat). Unplug, wait for cooling and try again. If nothing works, contact customer service.
