Frequently Asked Questions - Compact C1 HomeCare MIELE

How to use the turbo brush?
Replace the two-position brush with the turbo brush in the suction tube. Make sure the turbo brush is compatible with your Miele vacuum cleaner (types STB 205 or STB 201 Vario).
Can I use the vacuum on thick carpets?
Yes, but if the turbo brush slows down, open the additional air slide to improve the suction flow. For very thick carpets, prefer a suitable brush.
How to maintain the turbo brush?
Turn off and unplug the vacuum. Use scissors to cut threads and hair wrapped around the roller. For deep cleaning, unlock the roller using a coin, remove it, and clean the interior.
Can the vacuum suck up liquids?
No, never vacuum liquids or damp items. Let carpets and rugs dry completely before vacuuming.
What to do if the turbo brush does not spin?
Check that the vacuum is on and that the hose is not clogged. If the turbo brush is blocked, clean the roller and remove any threads or hair.
How to change the filter?
Refer to the main instruction manual for the filter location. Generally, it is in the tank compartment. Clean it regularly and replace it every 6 to 12 months depending on usage.
Can I use the turbo brush on hard floors?
It is not recommended to use the turbo brush on highly structured or uneven floors. Instead, use the two-position brush or a parquet brush for hard floors.
What does the maintenance indicator mean?
The maintenance indicator means that the filter needs to be cleaned or that the tank is full. Refer to the instruction manual for details.
Is the vacuum suitable for allergy sufferers?
Yes, the Compact C1 HomeCare model is equipped with a HEPA filter that traps allergens, making it suitable for allergy sufferers.
Where to find spare parts?
Spare parts are available through Miele customer service or on their official website. Use only original parts.

Keep these instructions in a safe place and ensure that new users are familiar with the content. Pass them on to any future owner.

Always disconnect the vacuum cleaner from the mains supply when you have finished using it, before changing over accessories, as well as for maintenance work and cleaning. Switch the vacuum cleaner off at the wall socket and unplug it.

Correct application

The Turbobrush must only be used for household purposes to vacuum and brush dry floor surfaces. Do not use on people or animals. Any other use, modification or alteration to the Turbobrush is at the owner's risk and could be dangerous.

The vacuum cleaner and Turbobrush can only be used by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience or knowledge, if they are supervised whilst using them or have been shown how to use them in a safe way and understand and recognise the consequences of incorrect operation.

Safety with children

Danger of suffocation. Packaging, e.g. plastic wrappings, must be kept out of the reach of babies and children. Whilst playing, children could become entangled in packaging or pull it over their head and suffocate.
Children under 8 years of age must be kept away from the vacuum cleaner and Turbobrush unless they are constantly supervised.
Children 8 years and older may only use the vacuum cleaner and Turbobrush unsupervised if they have been shown how to use them safely and recognise and understand the consequences of incorrect operation.

The illustrations referred to in the text are shown on the fold-out pages at the end of these operating instructions.

Turbobrush features

The Turbobrush is operated by the suction power of the vacuum cleaner. It has a rotating roller brush which is very effective at picking up thread, hairs and fluff. Four rollers maintain the brush 1.5 mm away from the floor.

⚠️ The Turbobrush should not be used for vacuuming deep-pile rugs and carpets or valuable hand-knotted rugs and carpets, e.g. Persian and oriental rugs etc. There is a danger of the threads being pulled out.

⚠️ Do not use the Turbobrush to clean highly textured or uneven floors. The brush might come into contact with the floor and cause damage.

The Turbobrush is particularly suitable for vacuuming thread and hair from cut pile carpeting.

The standard floorhead or one of the Miele floorbrushes should be used for cleaning hard floors.

It is also important to observe the flooring manufacturer's cleaning and care instructions.

Fitting the Turbobrush

Model STB 205 (dia. 01)

This Turbobrush is intended for use with Miele vacuum cleaners.

■ Instead of the usual floor attachment, fit the Turbobrush to the suction tube by twisting it to the left and right. Ensure that the locking device engages.

Model STB 201 Vario (dia. 02)

This Turbobrush has an adjustable connector. It can be used on any suction tube with a diameter of between 30 and 38 mm. The Turbobrush should, however, only be used with the vacuum cleaner set to its highest power setting.

Open the air inlet valve (dia. 03)

The brush is operated by the suction power of the vacuum cleaner. With deeper, dense pile carpets the roller brush may rotate more slowly. This is caused by the carpet pile creating a seal around the mouth of the Turbobrush and hindering the flow of air. This will affect how well the carpet is brushed.

■ To increase the airflow, open the air inlet valve (left hand illustration).

In all other situations the air inlet valve should be closed, to benefit from the full suction power.

■ Close the air inlet valve (right hand illustration).

Maintenance

⚠️ Always disconnect the vacuum cleaner from the electrical supply for cleaning and maintenance work on the Turbobrush. Switch off at the wall socket and remove the plug.

Removing threads and hairs (dia. 04 -06)

■ Cut any threads or hairs that have become entangled on the roller brush with a pair of scissors (dia. 04).

Then run the vacuum cleaner to vacuum up the bits.

For more obstinate tangles or blockages inside the Turbobrush, the cover can be opened. Any large particles can then be easily removed.

■ Using a coin undo the roller cover on both sides and then remove the cover (dia. 05).
■ Remove any dirt in the brush compartment interior and from the roller brush.
■ Replace the cover and secure it (dia. 06).
