How to cook rice with the Suntec RKO9974?

Measure the rice and wash it. Use the measuring cup: one cup of rice requires approximately one cup of water. Place the rice in the inner pot, close the lid, plug in the appliance and press the cooking switch. The cooking indicator lights up. After cooking, the switch automatically switches to keep warm mode.

How to use the steam function?

Add enough water to the inner pot. Place the pot in the unit, then put the food in the steamer basket. Cover with the lid. Plug in and press the switch to the 'Cook' position. When the water has evaporated, the appliance switches to keep warm. Check cooking and unplug after use.

What to do if the rice is overcooked or undercooked?

Check that you are following the water/rice proportions (1 cup of water for 1 cup of rice). Make sure the inner pot is correctly positioned on the heating plate and that no foreign object is between the pot and the plate. If the problem persists, contact your retailer.

How to clean the rice cooker?

After each use, wash the inner pot, steamer basket, lid, measuring cup and spatula in warm soapy water. Do not use scouring powder or a hard brush. If rice has stuck to the bottom, fill the pot with soapy water and let soak for 10 minutes before scraping with the spatula. Clean the exterior with a damp cloth and dry it.

Why is the indicator light off and the plate not heating?

Check that the power plug is correctly inserted. Make sure the fuse has not blown and the cord is not damaged. If these are in order, the problem may be a loose internal wire or a damaged heating element. In this case, contact your retailer.

How to reheat cold rice?

Place cold rice in the steamer basket (without adding water). Put the basket on the inner pot, cover, plug in and press the cooking switch. Monitor and unplug when the rice is reheated. Do not use the 'Keep warm' function to reheat.

Can I use the rice cooker without water?

No. Water is necessary for cooking and steam production. Using the appliance without water would damage the heating plate and could cause a fire. Always follow the recommended proportions.

What to do in case of electric shock when touching the appliance?

Unplug the appliance immediately. If slight shocks occur, this may indicate contact between the water and electrical components. Do not use the appliance again and contact your retailer for repair.

How to activate the keep warm function?

The keep warm function activates automatically after cooking. The corresponding indicator lights up. Do not manually switch from 'Keep warm' to 'Cook' while the rice is hot, as this could damage the appliance.

What is the warranty period for the Suntec RKO9974?

The appliance has a warranty of 24 months from the date of purchase, upon presentation of the invoice. The warranty covers manufacturing and material defects. Damage due to misuse, normal wear or consumable parts is not covered.

This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory and mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

Children of less than 3 years should be kept away unless continuously supervised.

Children aged from 3 years and less than 8 years shall only switch on/off the appliance provided that it has been placed or installed in its intended normal operating position and they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children aged from 3 years and less than 8 years shall not plug in, regulate and clean the appliance or perform user maintenance.

• Do not immerse or wash the appliance in water.
• Always place the device on a stable and level surface. Do

not place it in wet areas or near other thermal sources.

• Keep the surfaces of the cooker pot and electric hot plate clean and dry.
• Do not touch the cooker lid while the device is cooking and turning hot.
• Unplug the power plug, before taking out the cooker pot.
• Keep the appliance away from children.
• Unplug the appliance when not in use or during cleaning. Never yank cord to disconnect from power outlet; instead grasp the plug and pull it to disconnect. Allow the appliance to cool before installing or taking off parts.
• Do not place cloth on the lid while cooking.

• The cooker pots of other brands will not suit this cooker.
• Do not let cord hang over edge of the table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.

• Always attach the plug to the cooker first, then plug the cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn the control to "WARM" then remove the plug from the wall outlet.

Cooking”. Do not attempt to lock the switch in the “Rice Cooking” position.

Installation and first use

For cooking rice:

1. Measure the rice you need and wash it. A cup of rice requires approximately one cup of water.
2. Please put the rice into the inner pot. Rotate the inner pot slightly several times so that the bottom of the cooker pot contacts well with the hot plate.
3. Close the lid and ensure that the lid is connected well with the shell.
4. Please plug the power cable into the rice cooker and connect the power supply.
5. Press the rice cooking switch and the rice cooking indicator will be turned on, which indicates that the cooking has started.
6. When cooking is finished, the rice cooking switch auto trips. The warm keeping indicator will be turned on which indicates that the warm keeping has started.
7. Use the spatula included with the rice cooker to scoop out the rice.
8. Unplug the power plug after use to reduce power consumption.

How to steam:

1. Add enough water into the inner pan. Place the inner pan into the unit, making sure the surface of the pan is wiped dry and placed properly inside the cooker.
2. Place food to be steamed in the steaming plate. Place the steaming plate on top of the inner pan. Cover with the lid.
3. Plug in to supply. Press switch lever to "RICE COOKING" to start steaming.
4. When water evaporates, the unit automatically switches to "WARM" function. From here on, check the food periodically. When the food is cooked, turn the unit OFF by unplugging from supply outlet.
5. You may reheat rice using the steaming plate. To reheat, place the cold rice on the steaming plate (No need to add water). Proceed to instructions 2 and 3 and unplug unit when rice is warmed.

Cleaning and maintenance

1. After each use, wash the inner pan, the steaming plate, the lid, the measuring cup and the spatula in warm and soapy water. Do not use scouring powder or brush for washing. Avoid deforming or denting the bottom of the inner pan.
2. If rice has cooked onto the bottom of the inner pan, fill the pan with hot soapy water and let it stand for about 10 minutes. Scour the cooked rice using the spatula.
3. Clean exterior with cloth soaked in warm, soapy water then wipe with a dry cloth. Do not use chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

The dealer or repair service can perform the repair after the expiration of warranty against charge.
