Frequently Asked Questions - LAM1803 Lamona

How to activate the child safety device?
Turn on the hob with without selecting a cooking level. Press for 4 seconds. The display shows L. Turn off the hob. To temporarily deactivate, turn on the hob and press ⑥ again for 4 seconds, then set the cooking level within 10 seconds.
What to do if the residual heat indicator does not light up?
If the zone has been operating long enough and the H indicator does not light up, the sensor may be damaged. Contact authorized after-sales service for a check.
How to clean the hob?
Clean after each use with a damp soft cloth and non-abrasive detergent. For stubborn dirt (melted plastic, sugar), use a special scraper by tilting the blade. Dry with a soft cloth.
Why does the cooking level oscillate between two levels?
This is due to the Power management function. If multiple zones are active, power is distributed automatically. The selected cooking level is prioritized; other zones may fluctuate. Wait until the display stops flashing or manually reduce the level.
What does the display 'F' mean?
The display F indicates that no cookware is detected on the cooking zone, the cookware is not suitable for induction, or its diameter is too small. Place suitable cookware, check compatibility (magnet sticks to the bottom) and its size.
How to use the PowerBoost function?
First select the cooking zone (front left or front right), set the cooking level to maximum, then press the PowerBoost key until P appears. The function lasts max 10 minutes for the front left zone and 4 minutes for the front right, then automatically returns to maximum level.
Which cookware to use for induction?
Use cookware made of cast iron, steel, enamelled steel, stainless steel or with a multi-layer base. Cookware made of aluminium, copper, brass, glass, ceramic or porcelain is not suitable. The base must be flat and clean, and a magnet must stick to it.
What to do if the hob does not turn on?
Check that the hob is properly plugged in and the fuse has not tripped. If you did not set the cooking level within 10 seconds after turning on, turn it on again and set quickly. Make sure no object is covering the touch controls.
How to lock the control panel?
While the hob is operating, first set the cooking level, then press the key. The display shows L for 4 seconds. To unlock, press ⑥ again. The function deactivates when you turn off the hob.
What to do in case of error code 'E' followed by a number?
Turn off the hob and turn it on again after 30 seconds. If the error persists, unplug it for 30 seconds then plug it back in. If the problem continues, contact authorized after-sales service providing the error code.

Power management

If multiple zones are active and the consumed power exceeds the limitation of the power supply, this function divides the available power between all cooking zones. The hob controls heat settings to protect the fuses of the house installation.

  • Cooking zones are grouped according to the location and number of the phases in the hob. Each phase has a maximum electricity loading (3300 W). If the hob reaches the limit of maximum available power within one phase, the power of the cooking zones will be automatically reduced.
  • The heat setting of the cooking zone selected last is always prioritised. The remaining power will be divided between the previously activated cooking zones in reverse order of selection.
  • The heat setting display of the reduced zones changes between the initially selected heat setting and the reduced heat setting.
  • Wait until the display stops flashing or reduce the heat setting of the cooking zone selected last. The cooking zones will continue operating with the reduced heat setting. Change the heat settings of the cooking zones manually, if necessary.

Refer to the illustration for possible combinations in which power can be distributed among the cooking zones.

Hints and tips

Lamona LAM1803 - Hints and tips - 1

WARNING! Refer to Safety chapters.

Cookware

Lamona LAM1803 - Cookware - 1

For induction cooking zones a strong electro-magnetic field creates the heat in the cookware very quickly.

Use the induction cooking zones with suitable cookware.

  • The bottom of the cookware must be as thick and flat as possible.
  • Ensure pan bases are clean and dry before placing on the hob surface.
  • In order to avoid scratches, do not slide or rub the pot across the ceramic glass.

Cookware material

  • correct: cast iron, steel, enamelled steel, stainless steel, multi-layer bottom (with a correct marking from a manufacturer).
  • not correct: aluminium, copper, brass, glass, ceramic, porcelain.

Cookware is suitable for an induction hob if:

  • water boils very quickly on a zone set to the highest heat setting.
  • a magnet pulls on to the bottom of the cookware.

Cookware dimensions

  • Induction cooking zones adapt to the dimension of the bottom of the cookware automatically.
  • The cooking zone efficiency is related to the diameter of the cookware. The cookware with a diameter smaller than the minimum receives only a part of the power generated by the cooking zone.
  • For both safety reasons and optimal cooking results, do not use cookware larger than indicated in "Cooking zones specification". Avoid keeping cookware close to the control panel during the cooking session. This might impact the functioning of the control panel or accidentally activate hob functions.

Lamona LAM1803 - Cookware dimensions - 1

Refer to "Technical data".

The noises during operation

If you can hear:

  • crack noise: cookware is made of different materials (a sandwich construction).
  • whistle sound: you use a cooking zone with a high power level and the cookware is made of different materials (a sandwich construction).
  • humming: you use a high power level.
  • clicking: electric switching occurs.
  • hissing, buzzing: the fan operates.

The noises are normal and do not indicate any malfunction.

Examples of cooking applications

The correlation between the heat setting of a zone and its consumption of power is not linear. When you increase the heat setting, it is not proportional to the increase of the consumption of power. It means that a cooking zone with the medium heat setting uses less than a half of its power.

Lamona LAM1803 - Examples of cooking applications - 1

Lamona LAM1803 - Care and cleaning - 1

WARNING! Refer to Safety chapters.

General information

  • Clean the hob after each use.
  • Always use cookware with a clean base.
  • Scratches or dark stains on the surface have no effect on how the hob operates.
  • Use a special cleaner suitable for the surface of the hob.
  • Use a special scraper for the glass.

Cleaning the hob

  • Remove immediately: melted plastic, plastic foil, sugar and food with sugar, otherwise, the dirt can cause damage to the hob. Take care to avoid burns. Use a special hob scraper on the glass surface at an acute angle and move the blade on the surface.
  • Remove when the hob is sufficiently cool: limescale rings, water rings, fat stains, shiny metallic discoloration. Clean the hob with a moist cloth and a non-abrasive detergent. After cleaning, wipe the hob dry with a soft cloth.
  • Remove shiny metallic discoloration: use a solution of water with vinegar and clean the glass surface with a cloth.
