Introduction We congratulate you on the purchase of your new product. You have chosen a high quality product. Familiarise yourself with the product before using it for the first time. In addition, please carefully refer to the operating instructions and the safety advice below. Only use the product as instructed and only for the indicated field of application. Keep these instructions in a safe place. If you pass the product on to anyone else, please ensure that you also pass on all the documentation with it. Intended use This product is designed for preparing foods. It is suitable for use with gas, electric, halogen, induction and glass ceramic hobs. The product is intended exclusively for private use. Specifications Ovenproof to 240 °C.10 GB/IE Safety instructions SAVE ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE! Beware that the handles may become very hot during cooking. Use oven mitts or BBQ gloves for your protection. Place the product, when hot, on a heatproof base. Do not place the product on an unprotected countertop. During cooking it is extremely important not to lose sight of the product while you are heating grease in it. Grease can overheat very quickly and ignite. In case of a grease fire, never attempt to extinguish the fire with water! Smother the flames with a lid or a thick wool blanket. Never heat up the product while it is empty. Failure to do so may cause the enamel coating to crack. To avoid damage to the enamel coating, use kitchen utensils made of heat-resistant plastic or wood only. Do not cut any food directly in the product. Never put dripping wet meats in hot grease. The resulting splashing grease may come into contact with a glowing hob and start a fire. ATTENTION! Always lift the product when cooking in the oven or on stoves with a glass surface (e.g. glass ceramic, halogen and induction hobs). NEVER slide the product on surfaces such as these, as this may cause damage to the bottom of the product, the hob or the oven. Always adjust the size of gas flames to the bottom of the product — gas flames should NEVER burn past the product's sides.11 GB/IE The product is not microwave proof. The product is ovenproof! Place the product on an oven grate, not directly on the floor of the oven. The product is not dishwasher proof. Do not use the lid if its handle becomes loose. Retighten the lid when necessary. FOOD-SAFE! The flavour and aroma of your foods are not affected by this product. Use Before first use, boil out the product 2 to 3 times with water to remove any production residue. Then clean the product with warm soapy water, rinse with clear water and dry thoroughly. Brush a little oil or butter on the inside of the product. Slowly warm up the product at low temperature. Turn down the temperature as soon as the grease soaks in. Wait approx. 2 to 3 minutes until the product has cooled down and remove any excess grease. Do not cook or roast at high temperature. Cast iron is an excellent retainer of heat, so medium temperature is fully sufficient. Too high a temperature may lead to unsatisfactory cooking results or cause foods to stick, e.g. as with omelet. Do not heat up the product too quickly. Failure to do so may cause the enamel coating to crack, if the cast iron expands more quickly than the enamel.12 GB/IE Notes: The light enamel on the inside of the product is specially designed for slowly preparing food at low temperature or at medium oven temperature. The nubs on the bottom of the lid cause circulation inside the dish during cooking. Rising steam condenses on the lid and is distributed evenly to the food you are preparing via the nubs. This means that your food stays juicy during cooking and thus retains its natural flavour. The enamel surface is not suitable for dry cooking. Always use a little butter or cooking oil and make sure that the bottom of the product is fully covered before heating the dish. Information for use with induction hobs Select a hob size that corresponds to the size of the bottom of the product to prevent heat loss. Effective bottom size approx. 160 mm (314948 – oval pot) Effective bottom size approx. 150 mm (314949 – round pot) Effective bottom size approx. 126 mm (315931 – saucepan) Note: Under certain circumstances, the electromagnetic properties of the hob and the product may cause an odour to occur. This is normal and is not indicative of damage to your induction hob or the cooking dish. Place the product in the middle of the induction hob. CAUTION! High heating rate! When preheating the cooking dish, be careful not to overheat it. In case of overheating, air the room thoroughly.13 GB/IE Cleaning and care Always allow the product to cool down slightly before cleaning. Never submerge the product in cold water while it is still hot. The temperature shock may damage the enamel. Also, do not fill the product with cold water. Rinse your product with hot water and off-the-shelf detergent. First, soak any food residue and remove them using a wooden scraper, sponge or brush. Never use any hard objects, steel wool and / or abrasive or aggressive cleaning agents such as chlorine bleach — failure to do so may damage the enamel. Thoroughly dry the product after cleaning. From time to time, rub a little cooking oil into the rim of the product to prevent the eventual formation of rust bloom. Store the product in a dry, well-ventilated space. CAUTION! Please note that the enamel may be damaged if you drop or strike the product. Disposal The packaging is made entirely of recyclable materials, which you may dispose of at local recycling facilities. Contact your local refuse disposal authority for more details of how to dispose of your worn-out product.14 GB/IE Warranty The product has been manufactured to strict quality guidelines and meticulously examined before delivery.
