1 Safety instructions

Remarks for safe use in hazardous areas.
- The product must only be installed, connected and set up by qualified staff. The qualified staff must have knowledge of types of protection, regulations and provisions for apparatus in hazardous areas.
- The classification and marking of the product must be suitable for the application.
- Adhere to the respective national regulations and provisions as well as the relevant installation regulations.
- Observe applicable documents.
2 Intended use
Use in hazardous areas according to the classification:

Ambient temperature range for connection cables and jumpers with angled M12 plug and angled M12 sockets.
Type examination certificate:
• EU: BVS 08 ATEX E109 U
• IEC: IECEx BVS 08.0041 U
The requirements of the following standards are met:
• EN IEC 60079-0:2018, EN IEC 60079-7:2015/A1:2018, EN 60079-31:2014
• IEC 60079-0:2017, IEC 60079-7:2015/A1:2017, IEC 60079-31:2013
3 Installation
▶ Protect the product from destruction.
▶ Avoid electrostatic charging on the product.
▶ Lay the cable firmly and protect it against damage.
▶ Avoid direct exposure to high levels of UV light (sunlight). Mount the product in a protected place.
▶ Only open or close M12 fittings in a sufficiently clean environment.
▶ Always close the connectors with a counterpart. They may be left open in the field only briefly for servicing purposes.
3.1 Special conditions for safe operation
▶ Always refer to the operating instructions for the marking, as it may not be fully applied to the product due to lack of space.
▶ Do not separate the connector when energized.
▶ Secure the connector by tightening the coupling nut sufficiently. Tightening torque 1.2...1.5 Nm.

Hand-fasten the coupling nut (0.4...0.5 Nm).

Then turn by 3 notches using a spanner across the flats 14.
The product has been tested in accordance with EN 60079-0 for group II and for a low mechanical risk with an impact energy of 4 joules.
The product conforms to the requirements for an M12 connector as set forth in EN 61076-2-101. The counterpart must also conform to this standard.
4 Maintenance, repair and disposal
No modifications or repairs may be made to the product.
