Frequently Asked Questions - CA6501 PHILIPS

How to clean the thermos carafe of the Philips CA6501?
Clean the carafe with warm soapy water by hand. Rinse thoroughly with hot water and let dry. Do not put it in the dishwasher and do not use abrasive products.
Can I use the carafe in the microwave?
No, never put the carafe in the microwave. The carafe contains metal parts and could be damaged or cause sparks.
What to do if the 'Grounds bin full' indicator lights up during preparation?
Empty the coffee grounds bin and clean it. Then press the carafe button to resume the preparation cycle.
How to properly prepare 6 cups of coffee?
Make sure the water tank is filled to the MAX level and the bean container has enough beans (visible above the matte part). Place the carafe on the plate, the lid in 'Closed/Preparation' position, then press the carafe button. The machine grinds and automatically prepares 6 cups.
The preparation stops before 6 cups, what to check?
Check the indicators: if 'Water tank empty' is lit, fill with water. If 'Bean container empty' is lit, add beans. If 'Grounds bin full' is lit, empty the bin. Then press the carafe button to finish the cycle.
How to pour coffee without burning yourself?
Turn the lid of the carafe to the 'Pour' position (arrow on the handle pointing to the Pour symbol). After pouring, immediately return the lid to the 'Closed/Preparation' position to keep the coffee hot.
Can I put ice cubes in the carafe?
No, never put ice cubes or other solid objects in the carafe because the glass interior is fragile and could break.
How to prevent the coffee from cooling too quickly?
Before making coffee, rinse the carafe with hot water to preheat it. After pouring, always close the lid in the 'Closed/Preparation' position.
The carafe fell, is it dangerous?
If the carafe has fallen, do not use the contents because the inner glass wall could be cracked without visible signs. Discard the coffee and inspect the carafe. Do not use it if it is damaged.
How to store the carafe after use?
Let the carafe dry completely after cleaning, then store it without its lid to avoid odors.

1 Before you brew a jug of coffee, check if the water tank is filled to the MAX indication. If necessary, fill the water tank with water. 2 Make sure that the bean-pack is attached properly and contains enough beans to brew a jug of coffee. The coffee beans have to be visible above the matt section of the bean-pack. If this is not the case, there are not enough coffee beans in the bean-pack to brew six cups of coffee. Replace the bean-pack with a full one or one that contains enough coffee beans.

The coffeemaker grinds coffee beans and brews five more times to fill the jug. The activity light flashes once when the beans for the first cup are ground, twice when the beans for the second cup are ground etc. When the beans for the sixth cup are ground, the activity light flashes six times. The coffeemaker automatically stops after brewing the sixth cup and the activity light lights up continuously.
