To reset your ACER XC600 desktop computer running Windows 10 Home, you have two main methods depending on your needs. If you are experiencing software issues or want to perform a clean installation, resetting via the Settings menu is the simplest.
First method: reset from Windows (recommended)
- Click the Start button at the bottom left, then select the Settings icon (gear).
- Open System, then click on About in the left menu.
- Scroll down and click on Recovery options.
- Under the Reset this PC section, click the Get started button.
- Choose one of the two options: Keep my files keeps your personal documents and folders while reinstalling Windows, while Remove everything erases all your files, applications, and settings for a complete reset.
- Follow the on-screen instructions until the end of the process, which will take 20 to 60 minutes depending on your choice.
Second method: advanced reset via startup settings
- If your system does not start or is unresponsive, restart the computer.
- During startup, press the F11 or F12 key several times to access the Windows recovery environment.
- Select Troubleshoot, then Advanced options, and finally Reset this PC.
- Follow the same steps as the first method to choose your type of reset.
Important precautions before resetting
- Back up your essential data on an external drive or cloud service, as a complete reset will delete everything.
- Ensure that the power supply to the ACER XC600 is stable and that the computer will not be interrupted during the procedure (do not unplug the power cable).
- Plug the device into a reliable power outlet and ensure that the battery is not critical.
- Note your Windows login credentials and any important passwords before starting.
After the reset, your ACER XC600 will restart and you will need to set up Windows 10 Home again. The computer will return to a factory state with all software pre-installed by Acer, without your old files or applications (unless you chose to keep them).
