SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS WARNING:

Before use, always check that the appliance, plug and power cord are in good condition. The appliance must be used under normal working conditions as defined in this notice. To avoid overheating, NEVER COVER THE APPLIANCE . Certain parts of this product may become very hot and could cause burns. Please be particularly vigilant in the presence of children and vulnerable people when the appliance is in use. It is recommended that children under three years of age keep a safe distance from the appliance, unless they are under continuous supervision. Children between 3 years and 8 years of age must only start or stop the appliance when it has been placed or installed in its normal standard operating position and if they are under supervision or have received instructions about using the appliance in complete safety and understand the potential dangers. Children aged between 3 years and 8 years of age must not plug in the appliance, adjust the settings, clean it or carry out maintenance. This appliance may be used by children aged eight or older and by persons lacking experience or knowledge or with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, provided they have received instructions and training on how to use the appliance safely and are fully aware of the dangers. Children should not be allowed to play with the appliance. Children aged 8 years or older may not clean or carry out maintenance unless they are supervised by an adult. This appliance is not designed to be used by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities, or lacking experience or knowledge, unless they are supervised, or given prior instructions relating to the use

of the appliance, by a person responsible for their safety.

Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Do not place the appliance just under an electrical wall socket. Do not use this appliance near a bath, shower, wash basin or swimming pool. Do not let water get into the machine. Do not touch the appliance with wet hands. Do not use your appliance near inflammable objects or products. In general, you should always place the appliance at least 50 cm away from any object (walls, curtains, aerosol, etc.). Unplug the appliance and let it cool down before carrying out any maintenance works. If the power cord is damaged it must be replaced by the manufacturer, the manufacturer's after-sales service department or a similarly qualified person, to avoid danger. For all maintenance and adjustments, please refer to the instruction manual provided with the appliance. For your safety, this appliance complies with all applicable standards and regulations (Low Voltage, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Environmental directives, etc.). This appliance is designed for indoor domestic household use only. In case of professional use, inappropriate use or failure to comply with the instructions, the manufacturer accepts no responsibility and the guarantee does not apply. Always unroll the power cord completely before use. Do not use the appliance in a dusty room or a location where there is a risk of fire. Never put objects inside the appliance (e.g. needles, etc.). Do not use an extension cord. The appliance must be positioned so that the mains plug is accessible. This appliance must not be used in a damp environment. The guarantee will not apply in cases of damage resulting from incorrect use.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS The electrical installation and use of the appliance must comply with the standards in force in your country.

Before first use, ensure that the voltage, frequency and power of your appliance are suitable for your electrical supply. Your appliance can function using an unearthed plug. It is a class II appliance (double electrical insulation ). Before switching on the appliance, please ensure: • the air intake and outlet screen are completely unobstructed; • the appliance is placed on a horizontal and stable support.

In the event of prolonged absence: stop and unplug the appliance.

NB : In the event abnormal heating, an automatic safety device turns the appliance off and then turns it on again when it has cooled down. If the fault persists or gets worse, a thermal cut-off fuse will stop the appliance from functioning completely; it must then be taken to an approved service centre.

• Indicator light C : the indicator light is lit when the appliance is operated using button A. • Thermostat : adjust the temperature according to your own comfort : button B • Cool Fan Setting : This setting enables you to use your fan heater as a cooling fan in summer. • Silence setting : Minimum Power setting 1200W ; regulated by the thermostat. • Max setting : Maximum Power setting 2400W ; regulated by the thermostat. • Frost-free setting : this setting enables you to automatically maintain the temperature above 0°C in a normally insulated room, whose volume corresponds to the power of your appliance.

Important : When using the appliance for the first time, it may temporarily release a mild odour and smoke (this is normal with all new appliances: it will disappear after a few minutes).

MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE

• You can clean your appliance with a slightly damp cloth. • IMPORTANT: never use abrasive products which could damage the surface of the appliance. • Clean the air intake and outlet screens regularly. • Store your appliance in a dry environment when not in use.

TROUBLESHOOTING Never dismantle the appliance yourself. A poorly repaired appliance may be dangerous for the user.

Do not use your appliance and contact an approved service centre if: • Your appliance has fallen to one side; • Your appliance or its power cable is damaged; • Your appliance is not functioning properly. You can find a list of approved service centres in the Rowenta International Guarantee leaflet included with your product.
