Frequently Asked Questions - FSMT605XS FRANKE

What is the minimum height between the hood and the cooktop?
The minimum safety distance between the cooktop and the hood must be at least 650 mm. Some models can be installed at a lower height, refer to the Dimensions and Installation sections of the manual.
How to install the hood in extracting mode?
Connect the hood to the outlet duct using a rigid or flexible tube of diameter 150 or 120 mm. If using a 120 mm tube, insert the reduction flange provided on the hood body outlet. Secure the tube with appropriate clamps. Remove any activated carbon filters.
How to clean the grease filters?
The metal grease filters are dishwasher safe. They should be washed approximately every 2 months, or more frequently with heavy use. Remove them by pushing back and pulling down. Dry them before reinstalling, with the handle facing outward.
When should the activated carbon filter be replaced?
The activated carbon filter is not washable or reusable. It must be replaced at least every 4 months, or more often with heavy use. To replace, first remove the metal grease filters, then unclip the old carbon filter and install the new one.
What to do if the hood does not turn on?
First check the power supply: ensure the plug is connected and the main switch is on. Also check that the power cable connector is properly plugged into the diffuser socket (accessible after removing the grease filters). If the problem persists, contact a professional.
How to replace the hood bulb?
Remove the metal grease filters. Unscrew the defective lamps and replace them with new ones of the same specifications (incandescent lamp 40 W max). Reinstall the grease filters.
The hood is noisy, what to do?
Abnormal noise may be due to dirty filters, unstable installation, or blocked air duct. Clean the grease filters, check that the hood is securely fixed and the exhaust duct is not blocked. If the noise persists, consult a technician.
Can I use the hood without the carbon filter?
Yes, if you install the hood in extracting mode (air expelled outside), the carbon filter is not needed. In recirculating mode, the carbon filter is essential to purify the air before returning it to the room.
How to adjust the hood speed?
Use the control buttons: T1 for first speed (turns motor on and off), T2 for second speed, T3 for third speed. The L button controls the lighting. Note that T1 cuts off the motor always going through first speed.
Is the hood supplied with carbon filters?
The manual does not specify if carbon filters are included. Generally, they are optional and must be purchased separately. Check the package contents or consult your retailer.

The Instructions for Use apply to several versions of this appliance. Accordingly, you may find descriptions of individual features that do not apply to your specific appliance.

INSTALLATION

  • The manufacturer will not be held liable for any damages resulting from incorrect or improper installation.
  • The minimum safety distance between the cooker top and the extractor hood is 650 mm (some models can be installed at a lower height, please refer to the paragraphs on working dimensions and installation).
  • Check that the mains voltage corresponds to that indicated on the rating plate fixed to the inside of the hood.
  • For Class I appliances, check that the domestic power supply guarantees adequate earthing.
Connect the extractor to the exhaust flue through a pipe of minimum diameter 120 mm. The route of the flue must be as short as possible.
  • Do not connect the extractor hood to exhaust ducts carrying combustion fumes (boilers, fireplaces, etc.).
  • If the extractor is used in conjunction with non-electrical appliances (e.g. gas burning appliances), a sufficient degree of aeration must be guaranteed in the room in order to prevent the backflow of exhaust gas. The kitchen must have an opening communicating directly with the open air in order to guarantee the entry of clean air.

USE

  • The extractor hood has been designed exclusively for domestic use to eliminate kitchen smells.
  • Never use the hood for purposes other than for which it has been designed.
  • Never leave high naked flames under the hood when it is in operation.
  • Adjust the flame intensity to direct it onto the bottom of the pan only, making sure that it does not engulf the sides.
  • Deep fat fryers must be continuously monitored during use: overheated oil can burst into flames.
  • Do not flambè under the range hood; risk of fire
  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

MAINTENANCE

  • Switch off or unplug the appliance from the mains supply before carrying out any maintenance work.
  • Clean and/or replace the Filters after the specified time period (Fire hazard).
  • Clean the hood using a damp cloth and a neutral liquid detergent.
