Frequently Asked Questions - IDEA CABASSE

How do I connect my IDEA speaker?

IDEA speakers are passive (except Altura MC). Use a suitable external amplifier. Connect speaker cables to the terminals on the back, respecting polarity (+/-).

What is the impedance of IDEA speakers?

The nominal impedance is 8 ohms. The minimum impedance can drop to 3.1 ohms depending on the model (Iroise 3). Make sure your amplifier supports these values.

Can I use an 8 ohm amplifier?

Yes, an amplifier designed for 8 ohms is perfectly suitable. However, check the power output to avoid clipping. A power of 50 to 150 W RMS per channel is recommended.

What amplification power do you recommend?

For models like Bora or Egea 3, a power of 80 to 120 W RMS per channel is ideal. For Iroise 3, up to 150 W RMS. Avoid amplifiers that are too weak which could saturate.

How do I maintain the lacquered finishes?

Clean gently with a dry or slightly damp microfiber cloth. Never use abrasive products, alcohol, or solvents that could damage the lacquer.

Is the speaker compatible with a subwoofer?

Yes, you can add a subwoofer like the Santorin 30. Set the crossover frequency around 80 Hz for optimal integration with the main speakers.

What is the recommended crossover frequency?

For 3-way models, the internal filter is preset. If using a subwoofer, set the crossover between 50 and 80 Hz according to your taste and room acoustics.

Can I place the speaker near a wall?

It is better to keep a distance of at least 30 cm from the rear wall to avoid excessive bass reinforcement. Floor-standing models (Egea 3, Iroise 3) are more tolerant.

How to adjust the filters?

Passive models have no external filter adjustment. For Altura MC (active subwoofer), use the crossover frequency (40-200 Hz) and phase (0-180°) potentiometers on the back.

Where to find the serial number?

The serial number is located on a label on the back of the speaker, near the terminals. It is necessary for any after-sales service or spare parts request.

The new Bora, Egea 3 and Iroise 3 are fitted with a modified version of the BC13 coaxial midrange-tweeter used in the 4-way concentric driver of the "La Sphère" reference system. The coherency of the BC13 combined with the dynamic range and transparency of the Duocell woofers reproduces timbres with true fidelity, without fatigue and with a matchless realism and depth of soundstage.
