Frequently Asked Questions - WHR31TS4E WHIRLPOOL

How do I adjust the temperature in my Whirlpool refrigerator?
Locate the temperature control dial inside the fresh food compartment. Turn it to the middle setting initially, then adjust colder or warmer as needed. Allow 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize.
Why is my refrigerator not cooling properly?
Check that the unit is plugged in and the thermostat is set correctly. Clean the condenser coils if dirty, inspect the door seals for a tight closure, and ensure proper airflow inside the refrigerator.
What should I do if there is excessive frost in the freezer?
Excessive frost often indicates a door seal issue or leaving the door open too long. Check the gaskets for cracks, avoid overloading the freezer, and verify the defrost timer is working.
How often should I clean the condenser coils?
Clean the condenser coils every 6 months using a coil brush and vacuum. This helps maintain energy efficiency and prevents cooling issues.
How do I change the door swing from right to left?
Unplug the refrigerator and locate the hinges on the top and bottom of the door. Remove the screws, transfer the hinges to the opposite side, and reattach the door. Reverse the door handle and the door seal accordingly.
Why is there water pooling at the bottom of the refrigerator?
Check the defrost drain for clogs, ensure the refrigerator is level so water can flow to the drain, and inspect door seals for condensation that may drip down.
How do I level the refrigerator?
Adjust the front leveling legs using a wrench. Place a level on the top of the refrigerator and turn the legs until the unit is perfectly horizontal.
What are the recommended temperature settings for the refrigerator and freezer?
Set the refrigerator to 37°F (3°C) and the freezer to 0°F (-18°C) for safe food storage. Allow 24 hours after changing settings for temperatures to stabilize.
How do I replace the interior light bulb?
Unplug the refrigerator, remove the light shield covering the bulb, and replace it with an appliance bulb of the same wattage. Reinstall the shield and plug the unit back in.
Is an ice maker available for this model?
This model does not come with a built-in ice maker, but an optional ice maker kit may be available. Verify compatibility with your model number and contact Whirlpool for purchasing.
