Frequently Asked Questions - JUICER CUISINART

How to assemble the Cuisinart citrus juicer?
Rinse the lid, press cone, extractor, and container with hot water. Fit the container onto the motor base by inserting the 3 tabs into the 3 holes. Position the press cone on the trigger, place the lid, then plug in the appliance.
How to use the citrus juicer?
Place the appliance on a flat surface. Put a glass under the spout in the open position. Cut the fruit horizontally, place it on the press cone and push firmly to activate the trigger. After about 3 oranges, remove the fruit, place the lid and press to activate the quick rotation.
What to do if the trigger does not activate?
Make sure the press cone is correctly positioned on the trigger. Push the fruit hard enough against the press cone to activate the mechanism. If the problem persists, check that the appliance is plugged in and that the container is properly engaged.
How to clean the appliance?
Always unplug the appliance before cleaning. Wash the lid, press cone, extractor, and container with warm soapy water or in the dishwasher. Wipe the motor base with a damp cloth, never immerse it.
Can I wash the parts in the dishwasher?
Yes, the lid, press cone, extractor, and container are dishwasher safe. The motor base should never be washed in the dishwasher or immersed.
How to store the appliance?
After cleaning and drying, put the accessories back in place. Leave the appliance on the counter or store it in a cupboard. Wind the cord using the cord storage located under the motor base.
What types of fruits can I juice?
This citrus juicer is designed for citrus fruits: oranges, lemons, grapefruits, etc. Use firm fruits at room temperature for better yield.
Does the juice keep for a long time?
No, the juice quickly loses its vitamins. It is recommended to juice at the last moment and consume immediately.
Is the appliance noisy?
The Cuisinart citrus juicer operates at a moderate noise level. The noise is mainly due to the rotation and pressing of the fruits.
How to avoid splashes?
Use the provided lid and ensure the spout is in the open position over the glass. After juicing, activate the quick rotation with the lid to release the juice without splashes.

3. USE

A. ASSEMBLING THE JUICER

  • Rinse the lid, the juicing cone, the sieve and the container in warm water. Do not rinse the motor base in water but simply wipe it using a damp cloth.
  • Fit the container onto the motor base. The three plastic notches located on the bottom of the container are inserted into the three holes located on top of the motor base.
  • Position the juicing cone on the top of the release mechanism.
  • Place the lid on the container.
  • Plug the unit in. The juicer is ready to be used.

B. USING THE JUICER

  • Place the unit on a horizontal, level surface.
  • Remove the lid.
  • Place a glass or other container under the spout.
  • Set the spout to the open position.
  • Cut the fruit horizontally.
  • Place the centre of the fruit on the centre of the juicer. Place your palm on the fruit.
  • Press the fruit down firmly enough to activate the release mechanism.
  • When you feel the juicing cone through the skin of the fruit, remove the fruit.
Take another piece of fruit and repeat.
  • After juicing approximately 200 gr of fruit (the equivalent of 3 oranges), the sieve will appear to be full.
  • Remove the fruit from the juicing cone and place the lid on the juicer. Press down on the cover to activate the 'fast spin'. This will release any juice remaining in the sieve.

  • Once the juice stops flowing, release the lid. The 'fast spin' function will stop.

  • Turn the drip spout to the closed position and remove the glass or container from under the spout.
  • Remove the lid and the juicing cone and empty the pulp from the sieve.
  • Rinse the juicing cone and repeat the above steps as often as required until you have the desired amount of juice.

C. TIPS FOR USING THE JUICER

  • Pressing the fruit firmly against the juicing cone will extract more juice.
  • Fresh fruit with firm flesh will yield more juice.
Always wash the fruit before handling.
  • Fruit at room temperature will yield more juice than refrigerated fruit.
  • Choose fruit with smooth, shiny and brightly coloured skin. The best fruit is firm, plump and heavy for its size.
  • Don't be afraid to use fruit whose skin has brown flecks. These flecks don't affect the flavour of the juice.
  • Once pressed, the juice quickly loses its vitamin content. We recommend juicing just before serving.

4. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  • The unit may be left on the kitchen counter.
  • Always unplug the unit when not using it and before cleaning it. Clean the lid, juicing cone and container before the first use and after every use. Use warm, soapy water to clean, then rinse and dry thoroughly. These parts are also dishwasher safe.
  • Do not try to dismantle the motor base.
  • To clean the motor base, use a damp cloth to remove

any residue and then dry. Never immerse the motor base in water or any other liquid and never place in the dishwasher.
- Place the accessories back on the unit before storing.
