Intramammary teat canal physical barrier sealant - For use in dairy cattle during the dry period. Allowed veterinary device, exempt from Item 15(r) drug labeling requirements under Pasteurized Milk Ordinance U.S. Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.

Please fully familiarize yourself with this document and all enclosures fully before using Cinnatube. Enclosures contained with Cinnatube may be more recent than this document.

Cinnatube does not contain antibiotic. Cinnatube is a yellowish smooth paste. It is presented in ready to use syringes. Each syringe contains 9ml of intramammary infusion. Cinnatube is indicated as an aid in the prevention of new intramammary infection throughout the dry period by providing a physical, malleable, barrier in the teat canal. This physical action has been scientifically demonstrated to reduce the incidence of clinical mastitis in the dry period.

It is recommended that Cinnatube be used as part of a whole herd approach to dry cow management and mastitis control.

WITHDRAWAL INFORMATION: Cinnatube has zero-day milk and meat withdrawal when used alone and stripped from the teats in accordance with the instructions. Cinnatube is not recommended for use following an antibiotic dry cow infusion.

(ii) Precautions

Keep out of reach of children. For animal treatment only. If Cinnatube gets on skin, wash with soap and warm water. If accidentally administered to a lactating cow, product should be stripped out by hand. A Safety Data Sheet may be obtained by contacting the manufacturer.

Adverse Reactions

Any Mastitis causing bacteria introduced into the teat at the time of infusion of Cinnatube may cause an adverse reaction. Every teat must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected prior to the infusion of Cinnatube. See below for instructions for administration of infusion products.

Storage

Cinnatube should be stored at room temperature 55°-85°F . In very cold temperatures Cinnatube may become very viscous and more difficult to administer, under these circumstances Cinnatube should be warmed to room temperature (no warmer than 105°F ). Individual tubes should not be immersed in water. The sealed Cinnatube bag can be floated on top of an appropriately sized bucket filled with warm water to warm the tubes.

Cinnatube Indications

Cinnatube is intended as an aid in the prevention of new intramammary infections of dairy cattle throughout the dry period.

(iii) Dosage and Administration

After last milking at dry-off, clean and disinfect the teats with alcohol swabs. Infuse the entire contents of one syringe of Cinnatube into each quarter by inserting the nozzle into the teat and applying gentle continuous pressure to the plunger until the paste is fully expressed. Do not massage teat or udder following infusion. A clean, disinfected and dry teat is essential. It is advisable to use an appropriate teat disinfectant following the infusion.

REMOVAL AT FRESHENING: Do not remove Cinnatube by action of the milking machine. To reduce the potential for Cinnatube accumulation in milking machines, aggressively hand-strip Cinnatube out of every quarter, 10 to 12 strips per quarter, before milking fresh cows. Bucket-milk fresh cows for a minimum of three milkings, if possible.

The following are simple steps to avoid introducing infections during administration of intramammary infusions.

Section 1 - Application of Cinnatube at Dry Off

1. Do not immerse individual syringes in warm/hot water during cold weather.
2. Cows should be dried off abruptly rather than gradually.
3. Clean teat ends as thoroughly as possible with alcohol and leave to air dry. Alternatively, though less preferred is to dip teats with an effective and approved germicidal product, wipe each teat with an individual disposable towel after 30 seconds.
4. To avoid contaminating earlier cleaned teats, clean the two teats furthest away first, followed by the two closer teats.
5. Ensure the teats are clean and dry before infusing Cinnatube.
6. Infuse the closest two teats first, followed by the two furthest away. This is the opposite order to cleansing.
7. Insert only the Cinnatube tip into the teat end. "Pinch off" the teat at the udder attachment between the thumb and forefinger and slowly infuse all of the tube contents. Use only one tube per quarter.
8. Do not massage the teats. Cinnatube is a teat sealant and must be in the teat canal to be effective.
9. After infusing, dip teats in teat dip or spray with disinfectant and leave cows standing in yard for at least half an hour to allow the teat canal to close.
10. Check cows regularly for signs of mastitis during the first week after drying off.

Section 2 - Removal of Cinnatube at freshening:

1. Remove remaining Cinnatube at freshening by wrapping the thumb and forefinger around the teat by the udder attachment and working the hand down the length of the teat. Strip about ten times per quarter.
2. Milk the first milking into a bucket to ensure that no Cinnatube goes into the bulk tank and to separate colostrum from commercial milk supply.
