Frequently Asked Questions - Rattler Jam Pedals

What settings does the Rattler pedal offer?
The Rattler pedal has three knobs: Level (output level), Gain (distortion gain) and Tone (tone). A selector allows choosing between asymmetric and symmetric clipping modes, offering two distinct saturation profiles.
How does the Mid Boost function work?
The left footswitch activates a mid boost located before the distortion circuit. It is not simply a volume increase, but a tonal enrichment that adds presence and body to the sound.
What are the two available clipping types?
The selector allows choosing between asymmetric and symmetric clipping. Asymmetric mode reproduces the behavior of the original, while symmetric mode offers a richer and more even saturation.
What is the Rattler's custom operational amplifier?
The discrete op-amp was custom-designed by Jam Pedals to replace the legendary LM308, now unavailable. It preserves the open and dynamic character of the original while ensuring a reliable supply.
How to change the pedal's startup state?
To configure the default state (On/Off) of the Rattler and the Boost, unplug the power supply, then plug it back in while holding down the desired footswitches. The pedal memorizes the configuration during the power-up cycle.
What internal adjustments are available?
Inside there is a trimmer to adjust the boost output level (set to maximum at the factory) and a dip switch that applies a bass cut on the boost. It adds a tightening effect on the low end of the spectrum.
What power supply should be used for the Rattler?
Use a 9 V DC adapter with center negative polarity, capable of supplying at least 95 mA. Do not use higher voltages to avoid damage.
Is the Rattler true bypass?
Yes, the Rattler is equipped with True Bypass. When the pedal is off, the signal passes directly from input to output without alteration.
What are the dimensions and weight of the Rattler?
The pedal measures 12 cm in width, 7.5 cm in depth and 5.6 cm in height (jacks and knobs included), with a weight of 280 g.
How to maintain the Rattler pedal?
To clean the pedal, use a dry, soft cloth. Avoid solvents and liquids. Always unplug the power supply before any maintenance.

Rattle your audience off their feet!

Rattler

We have always prided ourselves on refining and delivering the iconic tones of early 80s distortion boxes with our Rattler. Now, the snake has shed its old skin to usher in a new era of decadent saturation!

Incorporating a custom-designed discrete component op-amp that maintains all the beloved characteristics of the original, adding a custom-voiced mid boost, and introducing a second clipping option, the new Rattler is here to claim a forever spot on your board.

KEY FEATURES:

  • Custom op-amp: With the LM308 chips being long discontinued and hard to find, we developed a custom op-amp to ensure a dependable supply. Our proprietary design, featuring discrete components, preserves the open, dynamic, and tube-amp feel that made the original Rattler so revered.
  • Clipping Options: Choose between new symmetrical and original asymmetrical clipping options for distinct feel and saturation profiles.
  • Mid Boost Footswitch: Use the second footswitch to engage a mid boost before the Rattler, adding new dimensions to your tone. Don't think of this as a volume boost but as a tone enhancer!

With the new Rattler, you can enjoy the same fat and creamy distortion as its predecessor, now with enhanced versatility and tonal options. Whether you're rocking modern or vintage rigs, this devious snake is ready to rattle your audience off their feet!
